Romagnoli","doi":"10.1109/CDC.2013.6760087","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/CDC.2013.6760087","url":null,"abstract":"This paper considers the problem of computing the input u(t) of an internally asymptotically stable, possibly non minimum phase, linear, continuous-time system Σ yielding a very accurate tracking of a pre-specified desired output trajectory ỹ(t). The main purpose of the new approach proposed here is to alleviate some limitations inherent the classical methods developed in the framework of the preview based stable inversion, which represents an important reference context for this class of control problems. In particular the new method allows one to deal with arbitrary and possibly uncertain initial conditions and does not require a pre-actuation. The desired output ỹs(t) to be exactly tracked in steady-state is here assumed to belong to the set of polynomials, exponential and sinusoidal time functions. The desired transient response ỹt(t) is specified to obtain a fast and smooth transition towards the steady-state trajectory ỹs(t), without under and/or overshoot in the case of a set point reset. The transient control input ut(t) is “a priori” assumed to be given by a piecewise polynomial function. Once ỹ(t) has been specified, this allows the computation of the unknown ut(t) as the approximate least-squares solution of the Fredholm's integral equation corresponding to the explicit formula of the output forced response. The steady-state input us(t) is analytically computed exploiting the steady-state output response expressions for inputs belonging to the same set of ỹs(t).","PeriodicalId":415568,"journal":{"name":"52nd IEEE Conference on Decision and Control","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130421680","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

During the JET 2012 experimental campaigns, the XSC has been used to improve the shape control during the transient phases of plasma current ramp-up and ramp-down. In order to avoid the saturation of the actuators with these transient phases, a Current Limit Avoidance system (CLA) has been designed and implemented. This paper discusses the CLA algorithm and presents the experimental results achieved at JET during the 2012 campaigns using the XSC.","PeriodicalId":415568,"journal":{"name":"52nd IEEE Conference on Decision and Control","volume":"465 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123899632","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

State equations are then obtained by solving a system of linear equations involving the system trajectories and the computed state ones. If a factorization of only a principal submatrix of the Pick matrix is performed, our procedure yields a lower-order conservative port-Hamiltonian model obtained by projection of the full-order one. We also describe a similar approach to identification and model-order reduction for self-adjoint Hamiltonian systems.","PeriodicalId":415568,"journal":{"name":"52nd IEEE Conference on Decision and Control","volume":"197 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123367515","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To this aim, the present paper addresses the problem of improving the voltage profile regulation in distribution networks with DG. According to a decentralized approach, the set-point of a reactive power regulation scheme of the DG is designed in an optimal sense by solving a constrained minimization problem. Since the proposed design uses only local measurements new investments on the existing networks are limited. The results of numerical simulations are provided for a MV multiple-feeder distribution system with multiple DGs with reference to two different optimization objectives.","PeriodicalId":415568,"journal":{"name":"52nd IEEE Conference on Decision and Control","volume":"184 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123370376","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our method does not require any information on dynamics of the other nodes as well as network structure among the other nodes. We also extend this method to the case in which the dynamics of the two nodes whose edge is identified is changed instead of the knock-out operation, i.e., to a knock-down-based identification method.","PeriodicalId":415568,"journal":{"name":"52nd IEEE Conference on Decision and Control","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123489749","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The problem is addressed in a scenario where measurements of meteorological variables (i.e., irradiance and temperature) at the plant site are not available. The proposed approach efficiently exploits only power generation measurements and theoretical clear-sky irradiance, and is characterized by very low computational effort. A real-world application is presented to validate the procedure, which is also currently in pre-deployment phase at a Distribution System Operator control center in Northern Italy.","PeriodicalId":415568,"journal":{"name":"52nd IEEE Conference on Decision and Control","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121282526","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The controller design is based on the complete nonlinear average model of the power converter and takes into account that the controlled inputs -duty-ratio signals- should be saturated in a disk area on the input phase portrait while the grid voltages constitute the uncontrolled inputs. The proposed design approach fully satisfies the input constraint while simultaneously achieves precise DC bus voltage regulation and unity power factor operation. In addition, opposite to the conventional controllers, the present development is totally independent from the system parameters. A detailed nonlinear analysis shows that the closed-loop system operating under the uncontrolled external inputs has the input to state stability (ISS) property while the analysis is further extended to prove convergence to the desired nonzero equilibrium when constant external inputs act on the system. Simulation results verify the effectiveness of the controller under sudden DC bus voltage reference and load variations.","PeriodicalId":415568,"journal":{"name":"52nd IEEE Conference on Decision and Control","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121298292","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We show that designing therapy concentrations can be cast as an H∞ state feedback synthesis problem, where the feedback gain is constrained to not only be strictly diagonal, but also that its diagonal elements satisfy an overdetermined set of linear equations.
