Kernel PCA has recently been proposed as a nonlinear extension of the popular PCA. The basic idea is to first map the input space into a feature space via a nonlinear map and then compute the principal components in that feature space. This paper illustrates the potential of kernel PCA for dimensionality reduction and feature extraction in multimedia retrieval. By the use of Gaussian kernels, the principal components were computed in the feature space of an image data set and they are used as new dimensions to approximate image features. Extensive experimental results show that kernel PCA performs better than linear PCA with respect to the retrieval quality as well as the retrieval precision in content-based image retrievals.","PeriodicalId":415182,"journal":{"name":"Global Journal on Technology","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127814158","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Self-regulation skills towards web based programming language education is discussed under three dimensions; learning skills, learning strategies and self-efficacy. Level of cognitive flexibility is reviewed by comparison of time and percentage of success. Causal-comparative research model is used in this study where five different class groups are compared in. Furthermore, a web based problem was given to this students and their success is calculates as the grades that they get from each step. As a result, this paper indicates that when the correlation between level of cognitive flexibility and students’ achievements is taken under consideration it is seen that there is a positive linear relationship between them. It can be said that students who have higher cognitive flexibility level also have advanced problem solving skills.","PeriodicalId":415182,"journal":{"name":"Global Journal on Technology","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122149972","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study attempts to examine the effects of PBL approach in pedagogical agent assisted learning environment on students' attitudes and achievements in human computer interaction (HCI) course. Project-Based Learning Attitude Scale, Pedagogical Agent Satisfaction Survey and Perception of Course Content Attitude Scale were applied to students in order to determine the students' achievements in and attitudes towards the activities of pedagogical agent assisted PBL approach. Furthermore, review tests were applied twice as pre-test and post-test before and after the pedagogical agent assisted learning. As a result, the paper indicates that pedagogical agent assisted PBL approach affects students' achievements and attitudes in HCI course in a good way.","PeriodicalId":415182,"journal":{"name":"Global Journal on Technology","volume":"241 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124379191","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The possible trends of applying computer technologies in musical education are analyzed. The changes in the society and the development of computer technologies promote a new approach to the process of musical education. The use of computer technologies in the process of musical education presents new opportunities: music can be recorded, created, it is possible to ply different instruments, learn the theory of music, develop one‘s hearing, search for new information by means of the internet resources. Computer technologies is significant for the professional competences of the trainee teachers of music and can complement tne training of teachers of music. The article presents the analysis of the future teachers’ attitudes to the application of computer technologies in musical education and highlights the characteristics of computer technologies use. The results of the survey demonstrate that there appear aspects of using computer technologies in the education process that need to be improved. Hence, it is important to look for ways to convey the knowledge of music and skills more efficiently.","PeriodicalId":415182,"journal":{"name":"Global Journal on Technology","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-01-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117195097","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Information Technology (IT) has evolved over time and has changed the way business is conducted. The way people conduct business has been made easier and more efficient. IT has opened many doors for new technologies that are used within business and for individual use; the Banking sector is of no exception. Mobile banking is the fastest growing channel of banking as a result few people are walking into bank branches nowadays. Banks now need to remain relevant by catering to the needs and expectations of the customers and to the technology advancements. By providing better services and products customers are able to utilise. The role of IT in the banking sector can be divided into two categories: Communication and connectivity, and individual and business transactions. IT enables for sophisticated products to be developed with better frameworks, execution of dependable strategies and help with communication so to connect with people from different countries, businesses across the globe, geographical distance and diverse markets. Using specialized online community software consisting of social networking technologies and project-based wikis, project teams are able to collaborate and interact as they progress towards project milestones. Our study underscores the importance of sustained engagement as a means for fostering high levels of community and how these levels relate to project motivation and, ultimately, project success. Guided by a theoretical model that explains how individuals collaborate within online communities, we measure member perceptions of the software before and after our intervention. Survey results found that online learning community (OLC) software can successfully support learning and social interaction. These results are supported by a social network analysis (SNA), which shows high levels of individual engagement across the project lifecycle.
