This study aimed to determine the profiles of anthropometric characteristics and jumping ability of boys’ volleyball players who participated in the 2019 U19 World Championships from five different continents and compare these characteristics based on their technical position (blocker, spiker, opposite, setter, libero), continents, and team standings. Methods and Materials: An analysis was conducted on the anthropometric characteristics of volleyball players who participated in the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) U-19 World Championship for Boys 2019. Data, including spike height, height, weight, and block height, were obtained from the FIVB website for all teams and players who participated in the championship. The 348 players among 20 teams were divided into categories based on their playing position (five ranks), rank (20 ranks), class rank (five ranks), nation (20 countries), and class (five continents). Body mass index (BMI) was calculated using height (cm) and weight (kg). Results: This study presents data on the physical characteristics and jumping ability of boys’ volleyball players at different levels in the 2019 championship according to their final ranking and technical playing positions. The information can be used as an index of average weight, height, BMI, spike height, and block height to select talents and improve the selection and training process for various technical playing positions in volleyball. Conclusion: Our findings revealed a statistically significant correlation between height, weight, spike, and block of first-place teams. Boys’ volleyball players under the age of 19 at different locations had different anthropometric and jumping characteristics, with height being a factor that differs depending on the player’s location. Based on our findings, we conclude that jumping ability is essential in volleyball.","PeriodicalId":41505,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Complementary Medicine Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80774019","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At the same time, there are many reasons for recurrent laryngeal nerve injury. Therefore, the recurrent laryngeal nerve should be paid attention to before, during and after thyroid surgery. A 51-year-old woman was diagnosed with left papillary thyroid carcinoma. Unfortunately, the patient had a history of hoarseness following a patent ductus arteriosus ligation. We operated on her for thyroid cancer. Preoperative electronic laryngoscopy revealed paralysis of the left vocal cord, and intraoperative nerve monitor showed no signal of the left vagus nerve and recurrent laryngeal nerve. There was no improvement in hoarseness symptoms during postoperative follow-up three months. There are many causes of vocal cord paralysis. In addition to the central injury, any nerve injury of vagus nerve from the brainstem nucleus suspicius to the laryngeal muscle pathway it innervates can cause vocal cord paralysis. Paying attention to the recurrent laryngeal nerve before, during and after surgery can effectively reduce the vocalization of recurrent laryngeal nerve injury.","PeriodicalId":41505,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Complementary Medicine Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77602419","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The author notes that due to the high risk of death, thrombosis that occurs during surgical interventions of various types have a significant impact on the quality of medical care in the surgical environment. Accordingly, it is very important to determine the risk of postoperative venous thromboembolism and evaluate the features of its prevention. A particular risk is the development of venous thromboembolism (VTE), which combines deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE). Experts call it a multifactorial and serious disease. Accordingly, it is very important to study theoretical and practical approaches to the organization of prevention of thrombosis in particular and VTE in general in surgical practice, since even a competently and effectively performed operation can cause the death of a patient. Accordingly, the purpose of this work is to identify the features of surgical prevention of thrombosis and VTE in modern conditions.","PeriodicalId":41505,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Complementary Medicine Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81604074","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This approach is a collaboration of various medical specialists, the basis for the organization of work within the framework of this approach is the association of doctors of various specialties to carry out joint professional activities aimed at improving the quality of medical services. The use of an interdisciplinary approach makes it possible to effectively solve certain problems with the patient's health, especially if solving them by one specialist may not bring the desired result. This applies to various severe chronic diseases, oncological processes, etc., in the treatment of which it is necessary to unite different specialists to achieve the best results. It should also be said that within the framework of an interdisciplinary approach, medical workers can realize their knowledge and skills at a creative level, which significantly reduces the degree of burnout of doctors and increases the efficiency of their work. It can be argued that it is the interdisciplinary approach that plays a key role in modern medical practice, since its principle is to unite the forces of a number of specialists and provide the patient with the most effective and individual treatment. This approach in medical practice is becoming more widespread, and its potential is increasing.","PeriodicalId":41505,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Complementary Medicine Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85514315","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Coronavirus infection can affect the neurological system of the body, causing various symptoms and complications. The virus can enter the nervous system through blood vessels and neural pathways, causing inflammation and damage to nerve cells. Some of the most common neurological symptoms associated with coronavirus infection include headache, smell and taste, coordination disorders, weakness, fatigue, and sleep problems. It is also reported about rare cases when the coronavirus can cause encephalitis (inflammation of the brain), acute myelitis (inflammation of the spinal cord) and other serious neurological complications. The author notes that neurologists today face an unprecedented need to understand and treat the neurological consequences of the long-term development of COVID-19. Today, there is a need for international cooperation between medical societies, rapid and transparent transfer of research data, as well as further mandatory fundamental research to understand the pathophysiological correlates of the long-term development of COVID. It has a negative impact on the quality of life of affected females, leading to activity restrictions. Pelvic stability decreases in women with dysmenorrhea, leading to lumbar pelvic imbalance, resulting in impaired balance control. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Biodex balance (BBS) training on pain, postural stability and functional activities during dysmenorrhea. Methods: Thirty participants suffering from primary dysmenorrhea with a regular menstrual cycle were randomly assigned to experimental group (n=15) and control group (n=15). The experimental group received sessions in BBS training combined with traditional core stability exercises while the control group received only traditional core stability exercises for 4 weeks (three sessions per week). The BBS was used to assess postural stability and limit of stability, while the Visual analog scale (VAS) was used to assess pain intensity and Patient specific functional scale (PSFS) to assess the ability to perform activities. All measurements were obtained before, during the menstrual cycle, and after receiving the treatment. Results: The mean values of all variables showed no significant difference in the pre, mid menstrual cycle an d post-treatment assessments, p values were insignificant (P>0.05) between the 2 groups except for post-post treatment assessment for limit of stability (p<0.05). However, both groups showed improvement in all variables when comparing pre and post balance assessments.
