Search for new energy resources, increase the efficiency of the existing power plants, and cost minimization are actions to be taken. One way to reduce the cost is predicting the need for electricity. This problem is not new. This paper presents a low-cost method for short-term electric load prediction. After studying his stability, the algorithm is implemented in LabVIEW and a week of power data is used to test it and assess its performance.","PeriodicalId":414812,"journal":{"name":"2011 15th IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Engineering Systems","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131239591","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Representation of such data in continuous, Euclidean space usually does not reflect the true segments of data. As a crucial consequence, clustering algorithms working in continuous, Euclidean space may produce segmentations of poor quality. An alternative direction explores graph-based representation of data. In this paper, we show that graph-based data representation is well suitable for the case of categorical attributes. In particular, we offer the following contributions: i) we propose and analyze a flexible graph-based genetic clustering algorithm, where the ideal clusters can be characterized using external cluster quality functions, called kernels, ii) we study kernels, and define the crucial property of effective kernels, iii) we introduce a framework for distributed data-oriented graph clustering computations. In contrast of the complexity of our problem, which turns out to be NP-hard in our analysis, experiments show that in case of well clusterable data, our algorithm has attractive scalability properties. We also perform experiments on real medical data that provides us with further evidence about the practical applicability of our approach.","PeriodicalId":414812,"journal":{"name":"2011 15th IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Engineering Systems","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125437960","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The experimental studies compare the effectiveness of the computer based Minnesota Code applications to human usage of the code system, and the results showed that computers are as effective in the evaluation of ECG signal with the Minnesota Code as humans are with visual analysis. A fuzzy-based approach can be used to bypass known imperfections and imprecision of the existing Minnesota Code rules. A fuzzy-based approach also has issues with corner case inputs, which can lead to incorrect partial results and incorrect diagnostics outputs. The fuzzy environment provides more information for the medical expert or for the further levels of the whole hierarchically organized diagnostic structure. The authors of the paper present a possible solution for fine-tuning the diagnostic rules using neural networks. In this paper, the standard fuzzy-based approach is extended to a neuro-fuzzy solution.","PeriodicalId":414812,"journal":{"name":"2011 15th IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Engineering Systems","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114890452","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Industrial application of this character consists of many components providing the whole supervisory control system functionality. The most important issues in supervisory control are data acquisition from technological process level, visualization of process together with control function, alarm situations indication, display trend of process variables and other components. This model can be generalized for those engineering structures, where there are several types of structures and for each structure there are many components with many different types of deterioration options and duty uses. The condition of application is: the deterioration of certain components not only depends on time, but on the extent of use. In this paper we would like to present the development of Engineering Structures Management System, the different models, and furthermore a practical application — the deterioration model of car parts and the planning of their maintenance.","PeriodicalId":414812,"journal":{"name":"2011 15th IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Engineering Systems","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134301645","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

State space equations of asynchronous motor in d-q rotating frame are nonlinear with respect to rotor speed. Nonlinear equations are rewritten to parameter form describing dependency on rotor speed which is assumed to be known by measurement or by estimation. LPV controller is designed using H∞ theory to govern stator currents of synchronous motor. Simulation results presented in this paper show that current controller provides good current tracking over whole range of rotor speeds.","PeriodicalId":414812,"journal":{"name":"2011 15th IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Engineering Systems","volume":"108 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125572037","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
