The solution is accurate, fast, and especially best suited for all realtime applications where pedestrians may appear in many distances to the camera, like in cars and CCTV. Two proposed training methods of the classifier, namely full-scale and partial-scale training were deeply tested. Results show increased efficiency of the classification process (by up to 3 %) with similar processing time in comparison to a single classifier. All tests were conducted using Adaboost classifier, but generally, the results should be consistent for other classifiers.","PeriodicalId":413894,"journal":{"name":"2016 Signal Processing: Algorithms, Architectures, Arrangements, and Applications (SPA)","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125679788","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Automatic phonemic transcription application required: phonemic transcription rules formulation and implementation, and automatic phonemic transcription algorithm implementation. As the implementation result, automatic phonemic transcription application was developed by the author, which enables to execute automatic phonemic transcription of any orthographic text files in Polish. The use of large language corpus files, as source orthographic text input files for automatic phonemic transcription enables to create large phonemic language corpora for further speech and language processing research. The developed phonemic language corpus for Polish, opens up further opportunities to continue research on improving automatic speech recognition. The large phonemic language corpus enables to perform statistical analysis of the language and to develop statistical phonemic language models for improving automatic speech recognition by statistical methods.","PeriodicalId":413894,"journal":{"name":"2016 Signal Processing: Algorithms, Architectures, Arrangements, and Applications (SPA)","volume":"83 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126185414","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The uttermost objective of the software creation was to reduce a time needed to perform laborious data extraction process from medical images (necessary for the model reconstruction), without the need of purchasing expensive licenses for already existing programs. Obtained data can be used in any CAD software to recreate the spatial object. Generated 3D models of vascular systems can be used in numerical simulations so as to investigate the physical phenomena occurring in the circulatory system. Additionally, MeMoS is capable of creating datasets for texture analysis — that can be directly fed to the input of texture analysis software. Several results of the possible program output along with preliminary validation of implemented algorithms are outlined as well.","PeriodicalId":413894,"journal":{"name":"2016 Signal Processing: Algorithms, Architectures, Arrangements, and Applications (SPA)","volume":"126 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129351044","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The algorithm works on initially adjusted CT scans divided into segments. Obtained binary segmentation results were next checked manually and corrected if needed. The final reconstruction was used for preparation of a numerical grid and for further calculation of blood hemodynamic. The collected data composed of blood velocity and blood flow rate in function of time were compared with USG-Doppler data. Preliminary results demonstrate that proposed algorithm may be useful for initial reconstruction of human cardiac system, however its accuracy needs to be improved as further manual corrections are still needed.","PeriodicalId":413894,"journal":{"name":"2016 Signal Processing: Algorithms, Architectures, Arrangements, and Applications (SPA)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131816805","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The maps are extracted from DCE MRI images which, in turn, visualize blood perfusion in tissue by means of a contrast medium. Each voxel of a DCE image is characterised by a curve in time domain (enhancement signal). The shape of such curves is characteristic to different tissues and is quantified by fitting a proposed parameterized signal model. Different-modality MR images were acquired for a small number of patients, prior to diagnosed cancer surgical extraction. Six images were collected for each patient, four of them were distributions of blood pharmacokinetic model parameters and two — ADC and VIBE MR images. The extracted carcinoma tissue for each patient was investigated by pathologists. This histological grade provided labels to images for supervised data exploration. Both unsupervised (clustering) and supervised (LDA) experiments demonstrated the image texture can be a promising biomarker to reflect correlations between tumour tissue appearance at structural and functional MRI and the corresponding histological characteristics.","PeriodicalId":413894,"journal":{"name":"2016 Signal Processing: Algorithms, Architectures, Arrangements, and Applications (SPA)","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130071733","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"Signal-to-noise ratio in power electronic digital control circuits","authors":"K. Sozański","doi":"10.1109/SPA.2016.7763606","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/SPA.2016.7763606","url":null,"abstract":"This article presents selected aspects relating to digital signal processing in digital control circuits in power electronics. The following typical problems are discussed in this paper: signal sampling rate (phenomena of aliasing, synchronization) coherent sampling, jitter of sampling pulse, sequential vs. simultaneous sampling in a multichannel system, signal resolution (signal-to-noise ratio, noise shaping circuit, changing of sampling speed) interpolation and decimation, and conversion of analog circuits to digital form. In this paper a new formula for calculation of the resultant signal-to-noise ratio for three stages digital control circuit is presented. Consideration of these sources of error and their subsequent correction allows for a greater signal-to-noise ratio and minimization of distortion components, which in turn results in improved parameters of output/input currents and voltages, which can further affect the quality of energy processing in power electronic circuits.","PeriodicalId":413894,"journal":{"name":"2016 Signal Processing: Algorithms, Architectures, Arrangements, and Applications (SPA)","volume":"339 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116127079","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed approach utilizes adaptive synthesis aided by evolutionary algorithm. One of the main advantages of the presented method is that no spectral leakages can appear when time-domain description is transformed to the frequency-domain. Other superiorities of the proposed algorithm over the classical techniques have been presented in [9, 10]. In this paper, details concerning the most essential problems encountered during practical applications of the evolutionary algorithm to deal with signals of physical nature are considered. It has been shown that the proposed method can work successfully if some necessary conditions are fulfilled. Examples of applying with good results the evolutionary algorithms for building the frequency domain picture of discrete time signals are demonstrated. The obtained results of the performed analysis with the use of the evolutionary technique are promising and further investigation in this field is in progress.","PeriodicalId":413894,"journal":{"name":"2016 Signal Processing: Algorithms, Architectures, Arrangements, and Applications (SPA)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127717415","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As the skeletonisation process often generates redundant skeleton branches that may seriously disturb the skeleton matching and cause high computational complexity, skeleton pruning is required to remove the inaccurate or redundant branches while preserving the essential topology of the original skeleton. However, pruning approaches normally require manual intervention to produce visually complete skeletons. As different people may have different perceptions for identifying visually complete skeletons, it is unclear how much the accuracy of skeleton-based shape matching is influenced by human selection. Moreover, it is also unclear how skeleton completeness impacts the accuracy of skeleton-based shape matching. We investigate here these two questions in a structured way. In addition, we present experimental evidence to show that it is possible to do automatic skeleton pruning while maintaining the matching accuracy by estimating the approximate pruning power of each shape.","PeriodicalId":413894,"journal":{"name":"2016 Signal Processing: Algorithms, Architectures, Arrangements, and Applications (SPA)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132061703","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
