Its use in entertainment events such as music concert and sports games is easily noted. Thus, in this work, we investigate how these devices can increase engagement in entertainment events. For this, we developed a collaborative game called Cabo DIGuerra that uses motion and audio sensors in an interactive dynamic with the audience using concepts from Mobile Crowd Sensing and User eXperience. The game was evaluated through experimental studies both in a controlled environment and in real use scenarios of the application, highlighting its educational potential beyond entertainment.","PeriodicalId":413655,"journal":{"name":"2020 XLVI Latin American Computing Conference (CLEI)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132689331","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Current approaches of Process-Aware Information Systems (PAISs) for implementing and executing CBPs have shortcomings, not only related to the services offered, but also about issues typical of the technological solution chosen, such as portability, elasticity, and privacy when they are cloud-based. Portability refers to the dependency that is created due to the heterogeneity of the services offered by different cloud providers, elasticity defines the degree to which a system is able to adapt to workload changes by provisioning and de-provisioning resources in an autonomic manner, and privacy refers to sensitive information that is expected to be hidden from others. Then, the purpose of this work is to define an adequate cloud architecture for a CBPs management platform which faces these issues. To do so, starting from a definition of a cloud platform architecture that solves (almost all) the shortcomings for the CBPs services offered, an enhancement making use of the microservices paradigm is proposed, overcoming the identified difficulties.","PeriodicalId":413655,"journal":{"name":"2020 XLVI Latin American Computing Conference (CLEI)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134620872","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Network-based approaches permit to visualize associations between medical entities and to infer medical knowledge. This paper aims to apply such an approach to identify the graphs of obesity patients as well as relationships between diseases and treatments extracted from discharge summaries. Two experiments were designed. In the first experiment, a 412-node graph representing patients was constructed to identify patient groups. Graphs were obtained with the modularity function. In the second, some bipartite graphs were constructed to identify disease-treatment relationships from patient graphs. The results were congruent in both experiments. Patient graphs corresponding to obese patients with diseases derived from a metabolic problem were identified; some had infectious diseases, while others had diseases derived from a mechanical problem. Furthermore, graphs of diseases and treatments related to obesity could be observed. This work identified obesity-patient graphs and relationships between diseases and treatments based on a network approach, which took into account information extracted from clinical notes.","PeriodicalId":413655,"journal":{"name":"2020 XLVI Latin American Computing Conference (CLEI)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133998227","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This has caught the attention of researchers who seek to understand the behavior of students in these courses. However, despite the efforts, approval rates remain below 5%, so more efforts are needed to understand why students end a MOOC or not. The goal of this work is to study learner's behavior in a MOOC. Specifically, it seeks to understand student interaction sequences with course resources and characterize their study sessions throughout MOOC weeks. For this, using Process Mining techniques, data from N = 38,838 learners enrolled in a MOOC in Coursera were analyzed. As a result of the analysis of learner's interactions with MOOCs, two groups of students were observed as comprehensive and strategic. In addition, differences in learning sequences were found among students from both groups who approved the MOOC. These results help advance current literature and open the debate about whether MOOCs remain open courses or a digital book.","PeriodicalId":413655,"journal":{"name":"2020 XLVI Latin American Computing Conference (CLEI)","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124759610","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Three objective functions in steady state are minimized using a NSGA-II algorithm, these are: (1) moisture at the exit of the rotary dryer, (2) heat released to the environment through the dryer and (3) operating costs of the production process. Furthermore, the optimum operating conditions of the drying process are obtained and compared with the real process. Experimental results prove the ability of the proposed algorithm to decrease the moisture content of pozzolana by 28%, the heat released to the environment by 38% and the operating costs by 52%.","PeriodicalId":413655,"journal":{"name":"2020 XLVI Latin American Computing Conference (CLEI)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130187739","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many studies have been carried out in order to use this technology in the financial industry, but there are still issues regarding scalability that need to be resolved before the technology can be used. In the literature there are works that perform Blockchain performance analysis of the private model, making comparisons between different platforms. However, no work was found regarding the analysis of the impact that changing parameters has on the performance of private model Blockchain applications. In this context, this article introduces PriBB that contributes to the literature regarding the proposal of a benchmark to evaluate the performance of private model Blockchain applications. In particular, it focuses on the impact that the parameters of block size and interval between blocks have on the performance of applications, since no equivalent work has been found in the literature. The PriBB was evaluated in a real data center environment and aims to assist in the optimization of parameterization of Blockchain applications of the private model. The results are promising and demonstrate that a given parameter can impact more than 100 times the performance in running Blockchain applications.","PeriodicalId":413655,"journal":{"name":"2020 XLVI Latin American Computing Conference (CLEI)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129908437","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This tool will generate benefits for both the patient and the hospital's target staff, since by computerizing the processes, which is still done manually, there will be more time to dedicate better care to the patient and doctors could spend part of their time analyzing the statistics and information, that can be generated through the application to carry out investigations in the emergency care area, as well as optimize the resources of both, the staff and the logistics used in the Hospital. To achieve the main objective of this work, an application based on international health standards has been developed, as well as good practices in the care processes in an extremely sensitive area such as the Emergency Department. With this application it is possible to innovate in the Emergency Department, given that after more than 100 years of history of the Hospital, for the first time it intends to automate processes and generate online information quickly and efficiently from this modern tool optimizing attention to patients in the emergency area.","PeriodicalId":413655,"journal":{"name":"2020 XLVI Latin American Computing Conference (CLEI)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123002798","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, some current solutions are financially costly and inconsistent because of the unavailability of GPS signals or mobile data network. This paper describes a novel bus tracking solution based on the mobile crowd-sensing paradigm. Our proposed solution addresses the unavailability problems, cost-effectiveness, and security issues in collaborative sensing. As proof of concept, we implemented a prototype and evaluated its functionality, energy consumption, and performance. The obtained results show the use of crowd-sensing and low cost hardware are promising for real-time bus tracking.","PeriodicalId":413655,"journal":{"name":"2020 XLVI Latin American Computing Conference (CLEI)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115977387","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These images communicate the syllabus structure and elements to stakeholders. The curricula visualization area is growing interest in supporting description of competency-based curricula, curriculum analysis, and showing clear evidence of the relationship between the graduation profile and curriculum elements. This area also makes comparisons between curricula and international references; particularly in the case of computing programs, the ACM/IEEE Computing Curricula. So far, the vast majority of curriculum visualizations are static. These visualizations do not show all concepts and relationships of the curriculum, especially in the case of a competency-based curriculum. The visualization of a competency-based curriculum is a great challenge. Having so many concepts makes visualization more difficult to understand. All in all, it is necessary to develop: 1) a set of interactive visualizations with a filtering mechanism to facilitate navigation, understand concepts, and enlighten curriculum relationships, 2) visualizations that will check the relationship between competencies of the graduation profile and curriculum elements, and 3) visualizations that allow comparison with international references such as the ACM/IEEE Computing Curriculum. This work presents a prototype with nine interactive visualizations for competency-based curriculum in computing programs, which attend the above list of three needs. This prototype tool was tested and validated during the curricular reform of academic programs of the School of Systems Engineering and Computing (EISC) in the Universidad del Valle.","PeriodicalId":413655,"journal":{"name":"2020 XLVI Latin American Computing Conference (CLEI)","volume":"106 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131002951","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
