This paper we used a full year time-series of MODIS imagers with 1km spatial resolution to produce a land cover map with emphasis on sparse vegetation as an indicator of detecting desertification. The best classification results were obtained by combines both MODIS images and geophysical datasets. We first select training data using 125 sense ASTER images from 2005 to 2007, and the cloud free one-year MODIS data in 2008 were classified using Decision Tree Method. The result show that major desertification risk areas were: (1) Oasis-desert ecotone, which is easily damaged by human activities. (2) The lower reaches of Tarim River, which is affected by inappropriate water utilization. (3) The overgrazing land in semi-arid regions.","PeriodicalId":412601,"journal":{"name":"2010 International Conference on Multimedia Technology","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130211117","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the advantages of large-scale and simultaneous observation at a low cost, the potential role of ocean color remote sensing in detecting HABs is highlighted. In this paper, firstly, true color image derived from MODIS L1B data was composited for visual interpretation of suspect HAB areas. Secondly, based on the spectral characteristics of different waters, two bands ratio algorithm was developed to extract water classification information, especially Algal Bloom Water. Furthermore, Chlorophyll-a concentration inverted by OC3 algorithm and SST by split windows algorithm supplemented the results gained from the previous research. Finally, based on a comprehensive threshold method we analyzed the marine environment of the Skeleton costatum bloom area.","PeriodicalId":412601,"journal":{"name":"2010 International Conference on Multimedia Technology","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130256392","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to maintain the advantages of the existing layered architecture and to preserve the modularity of protocol stacks to the great extent possible, a novel cross-layer design, where information exchanged by sharing global network status and optimization controlled outside of protocol stacks, is proposed in this paper. The information manager, combined with the local connector and the adaptation adaptor, standardizes the interface to access the internal state of a protocol data structure and manipulates the global network status for cross layer interactions. The optimization coordinate controller separates the optimization algorithms from the existing protocol stack and actively schedules the optimization process. These two components are incorporated into a unified cross layer optimization framework.","PeriodicalId":412601,"journal":{"name":"2010 International Conference on Multimedia Technology","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130282426","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed method is depended on three decision rules which are the attribute of gray level and the feature of frequent flicker rate of steam injection, and the similarity structure between background image and current frame. The block-based approach is applied to all three decision rules. The experimental results show that the algorithm provides a reliable detection method which is useful in many cases such as the alarm on the leakage of a heating pipe.","PeriodicalId":412601,"journal":{"name":"2010 International Conference on Multimedia Technology","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134559900","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Heavy metal research is thus an important topic in environmental sciences for soil eco-toxicological diagnosis and ecological risk assessment. In this chapter, Transmission Electron Microscope(TEM)was used to investigate the damage of wheat seedlings caused by lead and copper and the distribution of Pb2+ and Cu2+ in different parts of wheat seedlings was discussed. Experiments showed that both Pb and Cu do damages to the wheat cells and the metals showed strong wall penetrating ability and migration ability . In addition, many abnormal symptoms were observed, including black electronic sediments surrounded by swelling mitochondria and cristae at the root-tip cells and swelling of chloroplast in leaves cells. The damage to nuleus was relatively small and low concentrations of Pb-Cu could inhibit cell division while high concentration reduced the nucleoplasm. All of the results are in agreement with the changes in plant's appearance and the physicochemical experiments.","PeriodicalId":412601,"journal":{"name":"2010 International Conference on Multimedia Technology","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131486000","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although delay-independence is an appealing characteristic, the EMKC system developed in exhibits undesirable equilibrium properties and slow fairness convergence behavior. To overcome these drawbacks, we propose a new method called MEMKC (Modified Exponential Max-Min Kelly Control). In this paper, we investigate MEMKC, prove its stability with homogeneous delay and also study the convergence behavior of MEMKC. Extensive simulations confirm that MEMKC eliminates stationary packet loss while speeding up the fairness convergence rate. Simulations also show that MEMKC preserves the good properties of EMKC, such as delay-independent stability and max-min fairness in steady state.","PeriodicalId":412601,"journal":{"name":"2010 International Conference on Multimedia Technology","volume":"105 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132979068","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
