The topology is realized by connecting the PSFB converter output in series with its input. The zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) is used to reduce switching losses. By analyzing the small signal model, the perfect dynamic response of the SCB converter is illustrated. Matlab/Simulink software is used and a prototype circuit is built. According to simulation and experimental waveform data, the effectiveness of the proposed topology is verified.","PeriodicalId":411916,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE 12th International Conference on Power Electronics and Drive Systems (PEDS)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128250898","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The GCSC is a circuit module that equivalently functions as a series variable capacitor by controlling semiconductor switches. The advantage of applying the GCSC to a primary side capacitor is giving a controllability of power factor for a high frequency inverter. Therefore, the optimum operation of the high frequency inverter can be achieved regardless of the coil parameters. Experimental results with an 1 kW laboratory prototype confirmed that the proposed system can achieve an optimum operation and high efficiencies of the high frequency inverter.","PeriodicalId":411916,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE 12th International Conference on Power Electronics and Drive Systems (PEDS)","volume":"144 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128614554","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To operate IPMSMs in the overmodulation region, it is necessary to deal with harmonic components. Generally, harmonics suppression method based on harmonics current model is utilized to deal with these components, however, it requires accurate motor parameters. In this paper, Band Stop Filter is utilized to suppress the harmonic components, and weight averaging method is applied to improve the current responses, without any motor parameter. Simulation results are demonstrated to show the current control performance and the operation range of proposed method.","PeriodicalId":411916,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE 12th International Conference on Power Electronics and Drive Systems (PEDS)","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129281377","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Today, one of the main reasons for module failure is the thermo-mechanically induced fatigue of bond wires as a result of strong load variations. A multitude of studies have been conducted to analyze the operational stress of bond wires based on thermal simulations using simple repetitive load patterns. This paper proposes a compact electro-thermal model for detailed time-efficient simulations of the thermal stress within bond wires. It incorporates the impact of parasitic electromagnetic coupling effects for an accurate loss determination over a wide frequency range. Finally, the bond wire model is embedded into a system simulation of the drive train of an electric vehicle. This allows to determine the realistic temperature distribution along the bond wires over time for specific mission profiles.","PeriodicalId":411916,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE 12th International Conference on Power Electronics and Drive Systems (PEDS)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126870633","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Accurate loss representation thus form an important part of loss model based (LMC) control. This paper deals with subject of loss model accuracy versus complexity of online implementation of such models for online maximum efficiency control. It is shown in this paper that the additional harmonic losses and stray losses can be conveniently neglected in loss models without deteriorating the accuracy of such control. To prove the above point, the induction motor losses are measured through no load and load tests and then are segregated into different loss components. The modelled losses are then compared against measurements to establish accuracy of different models. Then a reduced complexity model is proposed in this paper, which is much simpler to be used in online loss model based control and the parameters required for this model can be easily obtained through online identification procedures. The deviation of optimal flux reference for LMC control using reduced loss model is analyzed and it is shown that the optimal flux reference for minimum loss operation does not change even after neglecting additional harmonic and stray load losses for most of the operating load conditions.","PeriodicalId":411916,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE 12th International Conference on Power Electronics and Drive Systems (PEDS)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116178217","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The DC/DC converter steps up 12-V battery voltage to 420 V with an isolated high-frequency transformer. 12 ferrite toroidal cores are connected to the output of the DC/DC converter, and they are simultaneously excited by turning on 12 MOSFETs. The synchronous switching is achieved within only ±2-ns time deviation. The secondary high-voltage winding is placed through the 12 toroidal cores, and generates 10,000 V across the terminals in 50 ns. In order to make this high-speed and high-voltage pulse generation possible, the system has unique configuration and special appearance. In the paper, an experimental prototype and test results are demonstrated to show the performance of the proposed system.","PeriodicalId":411916,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE 12th International Conference on Power Electronics and Drive Systems (PEDS)","volume":"118 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116348660","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The design challenge with these machines is to find a suitable winding arrangement that does not generate additional losses in return. This paper presents a new two layer winding arrangement for ironless winding carriers that doubles the effective number of slots. Shifting the winding layers by half a slot pitch reduces the harmonic content of the magnetomotive force. In combination with a stacked winding carrier, the slots close, improving mechanical safety and thermal conduction capabilities. This paper discusses the calculation model for this winding arrangement as well as pros and cons of the design.","PeriodicalId":411916,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE 12th International Conference on Power Electronics and Drive Systems (PEDS)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121624551","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper explores the power quality improvement for grid-connected operation of the DS-BDFIG. An improved model predictive power control (MPPC) is proposed to reduce power ripple and lower current THD. A zero vector is applied along with an active vector in each control period. The duration of the selected active vector is optimized by power error minimization principle. Besides, the active vector selection and its duration are simultaneously considered in evaluating the cost function to ensure global minimization. The superiority of the proposed MPPC in power ripple reduction has been validated by a series of comparative simulations.","PeriodicalId":411916,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE 12th International Conference on Power Electronics and Drive Systems (PEDS)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128115118","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Depending on the application, certain degrees of performance must be maintained when a fault occurs. Fault-tolerance is mandatory at least for the time period until a secure state of the overall system is reached. In this work, two online sensor fault-compensation frameworks for current-controlled interior permanent magnet synchronous machine (IPM) drives are investigated, covering current-sensors and the position-transducer, respectively. Our propose method is based on FCS-MPC, the controller decides switching timing of each phase during control period directly by predicting future current behaviors at each prediction period and evaluate each behaviors. Shortening prediction period can improve steady current control performance, however, calculation amounts of prediction become huge and interfere with implementation. So, our method needs understanding the characteristics of voltage phase resolution and the necessary voltage phase resolution in each operation point for realizing a same level steady current control performance of PI base current vector control using PWM. In this paper, we describe the steady current characteristic of the voltage phase resolution of our method.","PeriodicalId":411916,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE 12th International Conference on Power Electronics and Drive Systems (PEDS)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128187343","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
