In this way, each one of such figures are examined in order to show the peculiar way of givenness that they adopt when it comes to appearing and revealing. The question concerning “not-being-yet” implicitly contained in the concept of “possibility” is also broached, taking into account Kant´s “ontological” theory in which Being is identified with the absolute “position” of a thing. First, the historiographical construction of the Enlightenment is examined to distinguish topics that characterized the ruptures and continuities in the sucessive interpretations. Subsequently, the issue is discussed in the context of the debate between Modernity and Postmodernity. Finally, question about the Enlightenment is discussed in relation to the possibilities of the philosophy of history and language. A study in the origins of radical politics , Michael Walzer describes modern political subjectivity based on the analysis of puritan calvinism throughout the 17th century. In this article we propose a brief history of the term “Enthusiasm” ( Enthusiasmus , Schwarmerei ) in order to show in which ways the theoretical precautions elaborated on religious enthusiasm constitutes a reaction against some key discursive peculiarities also present in modern political practices.
