It played a significant role in introducing punk music to the festival scene and was initially larger and better organized than the Glastonbury Festival. While Glastonbury became the largest greenfield festival in the world, Deeply Vale did not achieve the same financial success. However Deeply Vale's impact and legacy can be considered as significant as Glastonbury's. This article explores the factors that enabled Glastonbury's success and prevented Deeply Vale from achieving the same level of recognition.","PeriodicalId":411779,"journal":{"name":"Rock Music Studies","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115175281","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is not a statistical anomaly nor an artifact of one national chart; records in those periods spent less time at their peaks, thus scoring less than records in closely matched comparator high-scoring adjacent periods. The lack of enduring peak popularity, churn at the top of the chart, and the absence of a dominant genre indicate a lack of public consensus as to “what’s good right now,” accounting for the anomalously low scores in those eras.","PeriodicalId":411779,"journal":{"name":"Rock Music Studies","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127361612","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
