One of the most widely used algorithms for enhancing a color-blind's color perception of images is Daltonization. Non-iterative Daltonization leaves the possibility of modifying imperceptible colors into colors that already exist in an image. Iterative Daltonization method provides better results by overcoming this problem. This paper presents a new iterative Daltonization method for protanopes which uses hue to ensure imperceptible colors are not modified into colors similar to existing perceptible ones. Experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms similar existing methods.","PeriodicalId":411099,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE Region 10 Humanitarian Technology Conference (R10-HTC)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126401324","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Driving the wheelchair by hand may not be feasible for a physically challenged person with limited hand movement and as an alternate, simple finger movement based control system can assist them a great deal. In this paper, a robust scheme of finger movement detection is proposed for the direction control of a wheelchair. In order to obtain the fingertip location, a finger movement detection scheme is developed based on background subtraction and some morphological operations, where computationally expensive classifiers with trainers are avoided. The proposed method is capable of identifying finger movement in real time from images captured even by a very low resolution off-the-shelf cell phone camera. The control operation between the cell-phone and wheelchair is carried out wirelessly with the help of bluetooth technology. It is found that the proposed method is suitable under varying light intensity and noise conditions. Extensive analyses of various effects, such as shade, camera position, and speed of finger movement have been performed and a very high level of accuracy with low computational cost in terms of real-time precise direction control is achieved. The proposed approach could have significant impact by providing means to the physically challenged section in the society to become self-reliant as well as contribute for the overall development and turn themselves into a strength of the society.","PeriodicalId":411099,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE Region 10 Humanitarian Technology Conference (R10-HTC)","volume":"2011 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127364605","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

But the use of prosthetic limbs and artificial organs are still not commercially available in most of the countries. Recently developed some other brainwave based systems are mostly expensive, immobile or task specific. In order to overcome these problems, analogous to the pen-drive, we have focused on developing a low cost control unit namely “Brain-drive” which transforms ones thoughts into output digital electric signal. Certain thoughts (mental tasks) with hard eye blinking (neural driven physical outcome) develops certain action potential, no matter the eye blinking is visible or not, it creates a significant change in electroencephalogram (EEG) or brain signal. Single channel EEG signal is collected from frontal lobe as it plays a vital role in voluntary movement using a wearable Mindwave Mobile from Neurosky. The EEG data thus recorded is preprocessed to reduce the effect of noise and artifacts and then analyzed in time domain. A grid of cells are displayed on a monitor in front of the subject, which is connected to individual digital output pin onboard an embedded system. To select a cell, a user just needs to look and generate a sustainable eye blink which can easily be identified from the raw value of brainwave. Since eye blinking can be both conscious and involuntary, automatic periodic eye blink of very low frequency oscillation is removed to avoid unwanted selection of command. Unlike webcam based eye blink detector, Brain-Drive captures the signal for blink rather than the visual output of blinking. The system can be trained for person specific customized performance, considering special needs of a disabled or handicapped people who cannot communicate with the outside world using voice, motion or other methods. With the help of cognitive command, the ‘Brain-Drive’ can be used to control wheelchair, home appliances and even industrial machines.","PeriodicalId":411099,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE Region 10 Humanitarian Technology Conference (R10-HTC)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125402550","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents a novel framework of an unmanned aerial vehicular networking signal jammer which is oriented to block incoming and outgoing signals of all frequencies transmitted from a specifically marginalized territory scanned and explored by the aerial vehicle. During such a cyber-vigilance operation, the aerial vehicle is equipped with a transmitter and an auto-tuning band-pass filter module with automatic regulation of center frequencies according to the surrounding networking signals, which are considered to be the suppressing noise parameters. In order to restrict the signal blocking operation within the militant hub, the aerial vehicle with the network terminator is controlled to navigate within a particular boundary of a residential area and its navigation is continuously mapped and stored for effective evacuation process directed to save the innocent stranded people. The implemented system is tested in certain practical arenas with particular dimensions for assessing the aerial exploration of the vehicle. The test arenas are provided with signals of different frequencies along with variation in dimensions of the testing environment to affirm the reliability and sustainability of the aerial vehicular auto-tuning signal jammer.","PeriodicalId":411099,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE Region 10 Humanitarian Technology Conference (R10-HTC)","volume":"164 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122784487","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It normally fluctuates slightly over time from its nominal value of 50 Hz/60 Hz. The ENF remain consistent across the entire power grid. This has led to the emergence of multiple forensic application like estimating the recording location and validating the time of recording. Recently an ENF based Machine Learning system was proposed which infers that the region of recording can be identified using ENF signal extracted from the recorded multimedia signal, with the help of relevant features. As supervised learning process requires ground truth to train classifier for identifying future unknown data, in this work-we report Power Recording data extraction process from the National Grid of Bangladesh. Furthermore, we used ENF data — derived from Power Recordings, to compare grids around the world and found out classification accuracy of Bangladesh National Grid. ENF derivation process from Power Recording data and set of features, which serve as identifying characteristics for detecting the region of origin of the multimedia recording are followed from published work. The ability to efficiently describe image patterns is of fundamental importance. Array Grammar models can be employed in generating patterns on a two — dimensional (2D) plane. Study of patterns generated by such grammar models form an important step in characterization and classification of images. Also, it is difficult to represent all connected patterns by proposing a model or pictorial representation. Basically a connected pattern of any neighborhood represents a shape. In this paper, we proposed a Connected Pattern Array Grammar (CPAG) model, a new model of array grammar capable of generating connected patterns. Generation of connected pattern on a 3 × 3 image neighborhood on a 2D plane is discussed as an example to demonstrate the capability of the proposed CPAG grammar model.","PeriodicalId":411099,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE Region 10 Humanitarian Technology Conference (R10-HTC)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129812384","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

After its discovery Li+ ion storage device has become the most preferred choice due to its high energy density. However, an ion storage device that can use Ca2+ ions instead of Li+ ions, will be much cheaper owing to the higher abundance of calcium. Realizing the need for developing novel ion storage devices, present study aims to investigate hexagonal boron (B<inf>6</inf>) cluster's ability to store divalent Ca2+ ions. The calculated values of adsorption energies show that Ca2+ ions are well adsorbed in B<inf>6</inf> cluster and it reaches the maximum storage capacity when two ions are adsorbed into it with bi-pyramidal shape. We have used density functional theory (DFT) for our investigations.
