It has been the focus of geopolitical competition between Turkey and Greece, especially in the early 19th century. The dispute between the Greeks and the Ottoman Caliphate over independence culminated in 1829 is persisting until now. Using data from the Internet and written sources, this descriptive-analytical study aims to identify the possible causes of the geopolitical rivalries between Turkey and Greece in the Eastern Mediterranean. First, we identified the sources and extracted the content, and finally processed data. The conflict between the two countries dates back to the Ottoman Caliphate. In 1821, the Greeks revolted against the Ottomans and became independent in 1829. The second confrontation between the two countries took place after the First World War and the occupation of Turkey by Greece. The Greeks sought to annex Western Anatolia to Greece because, according to the Treaty of Sèvres, in addition to Western Thrace, Greece gained Eastern Thrace, which is located about forty kilometers from Istanbul. After the signing of the Treaty of Lausanne and the departure of the Greeks, the Republic of Turkey declared independence in 1924. After the Second World War, the rivalry between the two countries entered a new phase. Competition over territorial sea boundaries, ownership over Cyprus and Kastelorizo islands, the exploitation of energy resources, the issue of Western Thrace, Greece's support for the Turkish opposition, the security of the official borders between the two countries, and the crossing of refugees are among these disputes. Thus, historical issues and competition over territorial, border, maritime, energy, and ethnic issues have caused a permanent conflict between the two countries. In recent years, despite the diplomatic activities between the two countries, most of the disputes have remained unresolved.","PeriodicalId":410077,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of European Studies","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124176671","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is \"Europeanism\". In this article \"Europeanism\" is examined as an internally contradictory combination of irrational and rational considerations, officially presented as part of the paradigm of the European Enlightenment. After the expulsion of rival ideologies, neoliberalism builds the basis of today's Europeanism, which claims to be scientific, together with the several integration theories. Practice refutes most of these rational constructions after the 2008 crisis, both economically and politically. Integration theories cannot explain why the free market is failing. The crisis in the Eurozone 2011 revitalized economic nationalism and contributed to the erosion of the dominant paradigm. In the political field Europeanism has failed in its attempt to transform the EU's immediate environment in a positive way. The enforcement of multiculturalism, despite acknowledgments that it “has failed”, has split the Union internally. The reaction is a collapse of the belief in neoliberalism and hence the rise of Euroscepticism. In an attempt to organize some kind of \"Counter-Reformation\" in search of the lost loyalty, the European elite is trying to renew and supplement the ideological basis of the integration with one of the directions of (delete ‘the’) left-wing neoliberalism, namely \"ecologism\". It tries to impose - both domestically and internationally, the fight against \"global warming\" as an irrational cause that will give a new impetus to social development and integration in particular, as well as (delete ‘to’) solve specific problems of the energy poor European Union. The ecological ingredient in Europeanism is very suitable psychologically - \"alarmism\" is very well received by some rich and “anxious” societies. Economically it could help the energy poor Union to restrain its competitors on the world market. But the success of this attempt does not seem certain.","PeriodicalId":410077,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of European Studies","volume":"84 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133766631","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Meanwhile, smart governance has been regarded as a vital cornerstone of the smart city and one of its key dimensions and starting point. In this research, the dimensions and components of smart governance in Tehran are discussed. The research method in this study is descriptive-analytical. Research data collection is based on documentary and survey method. The data collection tool in this study consists of a researcher-made questionnaire with closed-ended questions (Likert's five-choice range). The sampling method is cluster random sampling. The statistical population of this study is all residents of Tehran based on population and housing census of 2016 which includes 8693706 population. The number of samples was estimated to be 384 according to Cochran formula. The number of samples based on four main clusters of the population between class was divided into five districts. To analyze the data from objective statistics as well as to analyze the citizens' views of the one-sample t-test to assess the status of the indicators, the Friedman test for ranking the indicators in different neighbourhoods, and then on the total constraints studied in Tehran and from Kruskal-Wallis test was used to compare indices in different neighbourhoods. The results of this research on smart governance indicators (decision making, partnership, collaboration, internal and external coordination, innovation capacity, technology, e-government and public services) in Tehran show that two basic dimensions of governance (partnership)., Partnerships, and decision making systems) are below average, which indicates the weak role and status of citizens in the decision-making system. The situation of other smart governance indicators in Tehran is also moderate.","PeriodicalId":410077,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of European Studies","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-04-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132265515","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To demonstrate this dual force, the author traces the Figure of a sand-glass which visualizes the first migrating compositional flow from the wide plains of Scandinavia, through sedentarized Gaul and on to the battlefield of Roncevaux Pass, and the second propagating flow from the oldest extant Oxford version to the eight variants which, although scattered over different countries, are very much inter-related since they all drew inspiration from Roland's heroic death at the eventful battle of Roncevaux. The nine versions of the Chanson de Roland founded the mediaeval western European poetic koine.","PeriodicalId":410077,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of European Studies","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122585661","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is believed that without adequate knowledge of vocabulary, one cannot express him/herself appropriately even if he/she master the grammar of the language and if it is implemented effectively when teaching vocabulary using task based instructions. Communicative language teaching approach was introduced as a main language teaching approach in our country (Ethiopia) two decades ago. However, the vocabulary skill of our high school students is not expected at their level. For example; sometimes students fail to use basic words for communication and even cannot express themselves clearly. The researchers employed descriptive research design in order to gather the needed information to achieve the stated objective and answer the research question. All of eight teachers were selected for this study through convenience sampling technique. To collect valuable and relevant data, interview and classroom observation were used. The semi-structured data transcribed and transformed into textual data form. The observation checklist data were changed to frequency of the numbers. Data was analyzed through cross tabulation and its analysis focused on the thematic expression. The study divulged that majority of English language teachers’ they face problem in teaching vocabulary via the task based instruction. The enlisted factors can be grouped into related themes: teacher related, student and facility related factors. Finlay, bearing in mind that divulged in the findings, the respondents listed different factors that affect teaching vocabulary through the task based instruction. Hence, the concerned bodies should fulfill he facility related factors that can affect the teaching of vocabulary via task based instruction, and the student and teacher related factors should mitigate through well-built mobilization.","PeriodicalId":410077,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of European Studies","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125906255","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
