With the help of an example of designing an architecture for mobile robot mapping system, it will be shown how formal domain knowledge can be used at multiple abstraction levels in a model-driven engineering approach. The solution pool for a particular problem is modeled using Solution Space Modeling Language. An eclipse based tool-suite is developed for modeling the solution space and for deriving a concrete operational model by explicitly defining the non-functional properties of the constituent components.","PeriodicalId":409799,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Collaboration Technologies and Systems (CTS)","volume":"59 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128831906","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Patients living in rural and medically underserved communities are further disadvantaged due to their geographic isolation and lack of specialty care clinicians providing service in their communities. The problem spans screening opportunities through treatment, follow-up, support and education. Telemedicine can help remove some of these barriers and provide specialty care across the spectrum of clinical specialties, improving cancer-related healthcare for all patients regardless of their location.","PeriodicalId":409799,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Collaboration Technologies and Systems (CTS)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133738562","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We propose a web crawler, based on an automatic ontology-based documents classifier, developed to explore (possibly huge amount of) Web pages, and identify a weighted set of concepts (Ontology-based Feature Vector - OFV) from the available domain ontologies that characterize the content of the document at best. In this way, annotated resources are semantically analyzed and matched with user profiles, to enable smart routing of knowledge fragments to VE participants.","PeriodicalId":409799,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Collaboration Technologies and Systems (CTS)","volume":"110 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133521027","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The ISPs nowadays provide the smart TV access over the Internet connectivity, where the users can access the real-time contents adjoining to the trendy contents like web browsing, email and downloading. The multimedia applications, specifically video streaming contains delay, bandwidth and packets loss requirements. The congestion over the network is a critical factor that creates packets loss, consequently the quality of streaming video is degraded. In this paper, evaluation of the video streaming performance has been performed by applying different simulation scenarios over IP-based network. The core objective is to analyse the network behaviour and video quality. The network behaviour includes packets loss, end-to-end delay and throughput. The received video quality is compared and analysed using application level values, which include Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) method and Mean Opinion Score (MOS) scale. In this paper, each experiment performed in simulation, shows different network behaviour and quality of received video depending on the network congestion and sent with dummy background traffic.","PeriodicalId":409799,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Collaboration Technologies and Systems (CTS)","volume":"42 ","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114094118","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Timely feedback on the user's household energy consumption and energy saving advisory is the key to energy saving. In this paper, the concept of a mobile application which displays real-time energy consumption information in a household is presented. The goal is to increase energy awareness amongst the users, encourage energy savings and make the user avoid using larger amounts of energy during the energy peaks. A prototype using techniques such as visualization, gamification and social networking was developed and tested in regards to its goals and usability.","PeriodicalId":409799,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Collaboration Technologies and Systems (CTS)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121979639","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such information enables a series of data-driven optimizations: filtering, aggregation, and speculation, that go beyond the well-researched benefit of mobile outsourcing. These optimizations can improve performance, reliability, and energy usage. A novel aspect of our approach is to exploit the unique ability of the cloud to collect and analyze large amounts of user profile data, cache shared data, and even enable sharing of computations, across different mobile users. We present results for two exemplar mobile-cloud applications, driven by workload traces derived from Twitter feeds and Wikipedia document editing, to illustrate these opportunities.","PeriodicalId":409799,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Collaboration Technologies and Systems (CTS)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127668737","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This transformation requires a shift in the services IT provides and a solid understanding of the expectations that employees have of both their technology and the larger environment in which collaboration happens. At the same time, we have been given the mandate to Be Bold, and Act Fast, leaving little time for upfront user research and requiring us as UX professionals to rethink how we enable project teams to be more effective within this new reality. One approach that is being used within IT to help product design teams move more quickly is experience themes, which package available user research for easier reuse. The collaboration portfolio has been an early adopter and used experience themes for the last year to help define the desired collaboration experience from upfront strategy and back-end architecture to the design of individual products. We will share learnings on how to best use these concepts and discuss the benefits of having a re-usable, over-arching experience vision in guiding product decision-making.","PeriodicalId":409799,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Collaboration Technologies and Systems (CTS)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129276388","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Existing awareness solutions work only for relatively small-scale collaboration in traditional workplace, and they suffer from either inflexibility or lack of scalability if applied to pervasive computing environment. Based on our analysis of awareness life cycle, we propose a model of event-based awareness promotion mechanism. Our model extends focus-nimbus model and reaction-diffusion model with computational reasoning of dependencies and diffusion paths. The model is partially validated through implementation of our experimental environment, DACE (Dependency-based Awareness and Coordination Environment), which supports belief tracking, updates, and reasoning tasks and enhance the cognitive capability in awareness interpretation and use. Key principles of the DACE system are explained through a hypothetical scenario of search and rescue exercise typical in emergency response applications.","PeriodicalId":409799,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Collaboration Technologies and Systems (CTS)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131940226","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aspiration of this paper is to explore a solution that may influence individual users to a more sustainable behaviour by combining data collected from advanced measurement instruments, together with social media. By creating a low fidelity prototype incorporating the idea of social media, collaboration, competition and eco-visualization, the paper aims to assess the users reaction and sentiment towards an unconventional visualization of energy consumption, collaboration for creating art and competing amongst other participants in a social network to lower the users energy consumption. An evaluation of the prototype design shows two interesting results: the need for flexible and individual feedback as well as positive feedback for collaborative art approach.","PeriodicalId":409799,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Collaboration Technologies and Systems (CTS)","volume":"68 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132148929","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Compared to personal mobile subscribers, enterprises have more concerns about mobile device security. The challenges an enterprise may face include unlimited access to corporate resources, lack of encryption on corporate data, unwillingness to backup data, etc. Many of these issues have been resolved by auditing and enforcing security policies in enterprise networks. However, it is difficult to audit and enforce security policies on mobile devices. A substantial discrepancy exists between enterprise security policy administration and security policy enforcement. In this paper, we propose a framework, MobileGuardian, for security policy enforcement on mobile devices. Security policy enforcement is further divided into four issues, i.e., sensitive data isolation, security policy formulation, security policy testing, and security policy execution. The proposed framework is secure, flexible, and scalable. It can be adopted on any mobile platforms to implement access control, data confidentiality, security, and integrity.","PeriodicalId":409799,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Collaboration Technologies and Systems (CTS)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132315713","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
