Therefore, the purpose of this study is to identify the causes of young adults’ risky investments and to suggest policy alternatives. To achieve the purpose of the study, 151 cases were extracted from 87 media articles in which young adults’ risky asset market investment cases were specifically revealed. The collected data were analyzed using the inductive content analysis method proposed by Elo and Kingäs (2008). As a result of the analysis, a total of 7 subcategories were derived, including “FOMO syndrome,” “overconfidence,” “aspiration,” “reference group,” “economic difficulties,” “liquidity expansion,” and “high accessibility.” In addition, considering the relationship among the derived categories, the researchers assumed that the main category that integrates the entire category is “social, economic, and technological conditions that lead to investing like gambling by stimulating feelings of anxiety, deprivation, confidence, and aspiration.” Based on the research results mentioned above, the researchers suggested policy alternatives: Expansion of financial education that can prevent young adults from risky investments, development of campaigns to create a healthy investment culture, expansion of the role of financial-welfare counseling centers for those who suffering from investment failure, and establishment of an integrated case management model based on the public-private cooperation.","PeriodicalId":409727,"journal":{"name":"Research Institute for Life and Culture Sogang University","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128489343","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To address these issues, members of religious communities may seek civic engagement based on their social capital and social identity within their communities. This study aims to examine the processes through which members of the Catholic Church can demonstrate civic engagement for environmental, human rights, and pro-life issues by focusing on the inherent role of the church community in realizing the common good. The results of the dual mediating analysis of responses collected from a Catholic parish showed that religious community participation had a positive effect on religious knowledge and religiosity, and religious knowledge had a positive effect on religiosity and civic engagement intention. Religiosity also had a significant positive effect on civic engagement. In the relationship between religious community participation and civic engagement intention, the dual mediation effect of religious knowledge and religiosity was statistically significant. In particular, the magnitude of the indirect effect from religious community participation to civic engagement intention through religious knowledge was the largest. Based on its results, this study discusses the role and importance of religious factors in the civic engagement of Catholic Church laypeople. Specifically, it can be expected that bridging social capital can be created through the dual mediating role of religious knowledge and religiosity.회적정체성, 신앙지식, 종교성, 시민참여, 생명수호","PeriodicalId":409727,"journal":{"name":"Research Institute for Life and Culture Sogang University","volume":"93 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126094266","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this purpose, phenomenology was implemented while GA gatherings were observed, in-depth interviews were conducted with five GA members, and then the essential meaning of addiction recovery in G.A. was reviewed. The addiction recovery mechanism of GA group is to replace gambling behaviors with non-gambling behaviors, recover true-self, and connect with others, with relentless cognitive and behavioral effort in an affective atmosphere. The ultimate goal of GA is a personality change and recovery from gambling addiction is a by-product of this process. As a therapeutic mechanism, sustainability, expertise, and availability are the strengths of the GA group, so it is suggested that institutional and policy support is needed to further vitalize GA meetings.","PeriodicalId":409727,"journal":{"name":"Research Institute for Life and Culture Sogang University","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132730710","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Clinical ethics consultation is an activity to support informed, deliberative decision making on the part of patients, families, and the health care team in the patient care. In Korea, clinical ethics consultation was regulated as an activity of the institutional ethics committee with the enforcement of the 「Act on Hospice and Palliative Care and Decisions on Life-sustaining Treatment for Patients at the End of Life」 in 2018, However, most health care institutions in Korea do not provide clinical ethics consultation, and this situation is the same even for Catholic health care institutions, which account for 8 percent of health care in Korea. In particular, Catholic health care institutions should be able to provide effective ethical consultation with specific ethical guidelines and activation plans that are consistent with Catholic spirituality, even in the midst of rapid medical development and social/institutional changes. Therefore, it is judged appropriate to apply the 『Ethics and Religious Directive for catholic Health Care Service : ERDs』 published by United Conference of Catholic Bishops as an appropriate model for the corresponding ethical guidelines. In addition, the specific case of the Catholic Medical Center, which is making progress in activating clinical ethics consultation, can suggest a direction for the activation of clinical ethics consultation in other Catholic healthcare institutions and can be a exemple worth sharing with all medical institutions pursuing holistic health care. If clinical ethics advice is activated and properly operated in Catholic health care institutions, it will become the conscience of the institution communicating to realize the best interests of patients, and high quality health care services will be achieved by protecting the rights and conscience of medical staff. This will be of great help in protecting the identity of a Catholic health care institution serving human dignity and value in the increasingly industrialized medical field.","PeriodicalId":409727,"journal":{"name":"Research Institute for Life and Culture Sogang University","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115060091","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study utilized 190 questionnaires from 6th to 9th grade public servants in 25 boroughs of Seoul to analyze the data and conducted multiple regression analysis. The results showed that the three functions of supervision-administrative, educational, and supportive supervision-as well as the frequency and duration of supervision in practice were positively related to the job performance of social welfare workers in Seoul and affected job performance. The regression coefficient significance test revealed that among the three functions and practices of supervision set as independent variables, only the lower dimension, supportive supervision, is statistically significant and has a strong influence on the dependent variable, job performance. The implications of this study are, first, that all three functions of supervision are important, but that supportive supervision is a particularly necessary function of supervision for social welfare employees who are experiencing a lot of burnout due to the nature of their work, and that it is most important to enhance the function of supportive supervision in the organization to improve job performance. In addition, the study suggested the necessity and importance of supervision for social welfare workers as a profession that provides human services and suggested the need to expand the infrastructure for systematizing supervision.","PeriodicalId":409727,"journal":{"name":"Research Institute for Life and Culture Sogang University","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133265147","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to the moral breakdown that calls for caring for others while setting aside the health and safety of oneself and their family. This study details a conversation with a care worker who struggled to work while moderating and abstaining from politicizing the above-mentioned issues. In this process, the ontological, ethical, and political struggles of the care worker are tracked, mapped, analyzed from the perspective of affect. Accordingly, this study exposes invisible techniques of neo-liberalism that are internalized in her daily life and labor. Furthermore, the trajectory of affective desires as an ontological force was analyzed. In doing so, it is possible to suggest connection and solidarity with other affective beings, which are fragile, but are constantly revealed with generative differences in the process of co-corresponding and attuning, rather than being tamed by absence.","PeriodicalId":409727,"journal":{"name":"Research Institute for Life and Culture Sogang University","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124741863","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To this end, the factors affecting the time deficit of unmarried young people aged 19 to 34 were analyzed using the 2019 Time Use Survey data. Sleep, personal care, and leisure time were set as sub-dimensions of time deprivation, and the criteria for time deficit were 75% and 90% of the sample median. Tobit regression analysis was performed because the left truncated problem appeared in the distribution of the dependent variables. As a result of the analysis, the degree of time deprivation of young women was more serious, and when the time burden for other essential activities such as paid work, unpaid work, and study was high, the degree of time deprivation of young adults increased. Life-related cognitive variables such as life satisfaction and lack of time were also variables that had a significant effect. In the case of young people living with their parents, the statistical significance of household head-related variables was also confirmed. These results raise the need for youth policies that can alleviate the time deficit of young people.","PeriodicalId":409727,"journal":{"name":"Research Institute for Life and Culture Sogang University","volume":"61 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128010433","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is important and urgent to apply the concept of hopeless death in a Korean context to the concept that seems to have accumulated influence over a long period of time, although it is somewhat unfamiliar. As a result of examining theoretical discussions on the derivation of the concept of despair and previous studies on despair conducted in the United States and Europe, many scholars agreed that socioeconomic changes lead to cumulative deprivation and unhealthy behavior. On the other hand, there was an important discovery in that countries such as Germany did not have a pattern of despair due to a stable social security system compared to the United States. Based on statistics on the cause of death or social survey data in Korea, the rate of suicide, drinking, and drug deaths over the past decade reached 12.4% of the total death data. Dangerous drinking and suicidal thoughts were on the decline, but negative responses to social isolation and overall life conditions were increasing. Based on this empirical analysis, diagnosis and policy implications for Korean society related to despair were discussed.","PeriodicalId":409727,"journal":{"name":"Research Institute for Life and Culture Sogang University","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126107346","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
