Partner Interdepence Model extended to Mediation was applied. 3,190 people (1,595 couples) from the 21st year of the Korean National Happiness Survey conducted by the National Assembly Future Institute were used in the analysis. As a result of the analysis, in the relationship between the husband and wife's perception of gender equality, happiness, and satisfaction with family life, both husband and wife found that the perception of gender equality had a significant effect on satisfaction with family life in the actor effect, and that satisfaction with family life had a significant effect on happiness. It was confirmed that this was a factor. However, there was a gender difference between couples in the partner effect. For the wife, both perception of gender equality and satisfaction with family life had a significant impact on the husband's happiness, while for the husband, there was no significant partner effect. In the relationship between husband and wife's perception of gender equality and happiness, it was confirmed that the full mediating effect of family life satisfaction appeared for both husband and wife. Regarding the partner effect, the wife's perception of gender equality had a significant effect on the husband's happiness, but in the case of the husband, there was no statistically significant partner mediating effect.","PeriodicalId":409727,"journal":{"name":"Research Institute for Life and Culture Sogang University","volume":"51 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140420527","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Korean social welfare, like civil servants and teachers, takes a political neutralist stance. Political neutralism actually means uncritical acceptance of the regime's position and has a tendency to depoliticize it. In this context, Korean social welfare follows the position of residualism, and social welfare is practiced by providing services based on sympathy and charity. \u0000The purpose of this paper is to criticize Korea's social welfare from a political neutralist standpoint and seek alternatives to overcome it. To this end, this paper focuses on Freire's theory and seeks to develop discussions based on it. Freire criticized political neutralism as the logic of the oppressor, perpetuating an unjust order of inequality and class conflict, and subjecting citizens to a culture of silence and horizontal violence. In particular, social welfare was seen as a fictional tolerance and a strategy of the oppressor. \u0000This paper analyzed Freire's criticism by applying it to Korea's social welfare stance, that is, political neutralism and residualism. This paper proposed transforming social welfare into class politics toward institutionalism based on social rights and presented the content and direction of civic education.","PeriodicalId":409727,"journal":{"name":"Research Institute for Life and Culture Sogang University","volume":"325 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140417236","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This system comprises a birth notification system, a protected birth system, a pregnancy conflict counseling system, and related service delivery mechanisms. A comparative case study was conducted to explain the support social services and family policy system for women in pregnancy conflict situations, focusing on a pregnancy conflict counseling center in Germany. Following the revision of the Criminal Law in 1992, the German government began to partially legalize abortion and introduce pregnancy conflict counseling centers. This research found that the German government has supported women in pregnancy conflict situations through child-centered cash benefits and family policy programs aimed at promoting work-life balance. Our research underscores the need to establish a social service delivery system that acknowledges women as the primary stakeholders in childbirth. Additionally, this study proposes revisions to laws related to abortion penalties and the establishment of a comprehensive family policy system.","PeriodicalId":409727,"journal":{"name":"Research Institute for Life and Culture Sogang University","volume":"24 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140420467","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It explores how Agamben strives to connect with the inoperative community through the concept of civil war. In this analysis, it becomes evident that the concept of civil war can be understood as a crucial component of contemporary politics without endorsing real-life civil conflicts, terrorism, or violence. Civil war functions metaphorically as a tool for the sovereign to declare a state of exception, granting the power to perpetually maintain such a status. However, this declaration is always aimed at creating an operative community, reminiscent of the ideal envisioned by Nazism: a unified People overcoming internal divisions. Conversely, viewing civil war as a foundational element of politics leads us to consider an inoperative community─a community in constant division, lacking a fixed identity, akin to the refugee communities described by Arendt. This paper asserts that Agamben’s exploration of new communities encourages contemplation of civil war as a fundamental element, devoid of the endorsement of actualized violence.","PeriodicalId":409727,"journal":{"name":"Research Institute for Life and Culture Sogang University","volume":"234 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139202760","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Also, it examines the level of AIPI and AFE differences between age groups. The study uses data from the 2020 Korea Older Adults Survey of the Ministry of Health and Welfare and analyses 5,977 young-old, 3,333 old-old, and 610 oldest-old cases. The main results are as follows: First, choosing to live in the home(community) proportion is 63.3% in young-old, 61.4% in old-old, and 59.0% in oldest-old. Second, the AFE factors score shows the highest in the young-old group, followed by old-old and oldest-old. Third, the AFE factors influencing AIPI show different results in age groups. In the young-old group, AFE ‘housing,’ ‘civic participation,’ ‘perception of social service,’ and ‘need of social service’ factors significantly affect AIPI. In the old-old group, AFE factors of ‘safety,’ ‘housing,’ ‘leisure activity,’ ‘social relationship,’ and ‘communication and information’ influence AIPI. In the oldest-old, only the ‘housing’ AFE factor affects the AIPI. Based on the results, the study highlights that most older adults prefer to stay in their homes and community during their later life. And it discusses the policy and practice for supporting the AIP in each age group by improving the age-friendly environment.","PeriodicalId":409727,"journal":{"name":"Research Institute for Life and Culture Sogang University","volume":"120 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139200889","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this purpose, an online survey was conducted among junior high school and high school students aged 14~18 years through an online research company from February 16 to February 27, 2023, consisting of a total of 375 data were used for analysis. The mediating effects were analyzed using a structural equation model, and the statistical significance of the mediating effect was verified by applying the bootstrapping method. The main findings of the research are as follows. First, the companion animal interaction showed a statistically significant direct effect on adolescents’ smartphone overdependence and social withdrawal. Second, the companion animal interaction had a statistically significant direct effect on social withdrawal by mediating smartphone overdependence. In this process, a partial mediating effect was confirmed. Third, smartphone overdependence showed a statistically significant direct effect on social withdrawal. This study confirmed that interaction with companion animals is a factor that affects adolescents’ smartphone overdependence and social withdrawal. Based on these results, intervention plans to prevent adolescents’ smartphone overdependence and social withdrawal were discussed.","PeriodicalId":409727,"journal":{"name":"Research Institute for Life and Culture Sogang University","volume":"394 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139205562","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To fulfill these research objectives, an online survey was administered to a sample of 306 young adults. The findings suggested that while perceived fairness significantly influences relative deprivation across the entire young adult group. Moreover, the group's gender equality was found not to have a statistically significant impact on relative deprivation, indicating it does not serve as a mediator between perceived fairness and relative deprivation. Interestingly, for the male subset, although perceived fairness did not affect relative deprivation, The gender equality of young males mediated the relationship between perceived fairness and relative deprivation. In contrast, within the female subset, while perceived fairness significantly impacted relative deprivation, it did not influence gender equality consciousness. The gender equality of young females does not mediate the relationship between perceived fairness and relative deprivation. In light of these results, The study suggested social welfare strategies to address gender-based polarization within young generations.","PeriodicalId":409727,"journal":{"name":"Research Institute for Life and Culture Sogang University","volume":"22 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139206635","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
