In this contribution, we focus on microwave tomography and the study is conducted on an equivalent scaled model of the comet. A simple vectorial-induced current reconstruction algorithm is exploited to obtain qualitative maps of the scene. The TA is realized as a non-uniform array of antenna-resonator-antenna (ARA) elements and the FSS is realized as a uniform array of ARA elements. Each ARA element is a three layer structure consisting of two patch antennas and a slot resonator. The ARA elementary cell is designed and verified using finite element method simulation. A free space Gaussian optics measurement system (GOMS) is utilized to characterize the elementary cell. To study such segmented waveguides, we use the concept of quasimodes associated to complex frequencies. The numerical determination of quasimodes is based on a finite element formulation completed with Perfectly Matched Layers (PMLs). These PMLs lead to non Hermitian matrices whose complex eigenvalues correspond to quasimode frequencies. Using Floquet-Bloch theory, a numerical model is set up that allows the spectral study of structures that are both open and periodic. The use of wireless sensor network technology allows the non-invasive integration of such monitoring functionalities in a great variety of complex museum scenarios, often hosted in historic buildings.
