The present study is based on numerical simulation data of a generic breast phantom, and a time domain FDTD based reconstruction method. In general, reconstruction results are be both application and algorithm dependent. The results show very different reconstructed images when using different polarization data. We conclude that polarization could be an important factor to consider when optimizing the design of a microwave imaging system.","PeriodicalId":409536,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE Conference on Antenna Measurements & Applications (CAMA)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125214604","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The system employs a unique electromagnetic energy coupling sensor/antenna and is also equipped with a mobile app to display the processed values in real time and facilitate use by mobile users. New RF components have been used and this eliminated the need for a costly and bulky network analyzers. The developed system is more suitable for clinical use and for remote monitoring of remote patients. Accuracy of the developed wireless system has been validated by comparing results with traditional network analyzer measurements and excellent agreement was observed.","PeriodicalId":409536,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE Conference on Antenna Measurements & Applications (CAMA)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125304633","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The traditional power grid needs new monitoring and control tools for the optimal management of producers and consumers through adaptive energy distribution schemes. The problem of energy consumption reduction can be addressed at different scales, ranging from the management of single appliances up to building, district, city level. In this paper, a wireless system architecture for the distributed monitoring and intelligent supervision of energy consumptions is proposed. The energy information related to a multi-user scenario are acquired by distributed wireless sensors and processed by a decision-making support tool aimed at the adaptive optimization of user energy-habits and successive energy cost reduction.","PeriodicalId":409536,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE Conference on Antenna Measurements & Applications (CAMA)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133753585","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Dielectric columns with a variable height are used as the lens elements for phase compensation. A matching layer at the air-dielectric interface is added to reduce the reflection and to enhance the lens antenna directivity. A low-cost three-dimensional (3D) printing technology is utilized to fabricate the proposed lens antenna. Both simulated and measured results are presented for a prototype working in terahertz region. This study shows that the proposed low-cost design methodology is well suited for high-gain THz antennas.","PeriodicalId":409536,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE Conference on Antenna Measurements & Applications (CAMA)","volume":"474 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133436883","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The determination of the 3D Impulse Response of Antenna (IRA) is performed starting from measured data. Using the Matrix Pencil method, we establish a compact model of the antenna. A new criterion is introduced to determine the minimal number of characteristic poles, this poles are determined in a particular direction and applied to 3D gain reconstruction. This model can give a complete representation of the antenna radiation characteristics.","PeriodicalId":409536,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE Conference on Antenna Measurements & Applications (CAMA)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129309877","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The numerical solution of these equations is hampered by some fundamental problems especially in the high frequency regime. Fine meshes have to be used in order to accurately represent the solution and also to avoid the pollution effect, which is very well known for the Helmholtz equations. We propose in this paper to address this problem by considering high order finite element approximations and in particular Whitney edge elements.","PeriodicalId":409536,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE Conference on Antenna Measurements & Applications (CAMA)","volume":"121 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132402179","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For miniature or very integrated antennae, the presence of a coaxial cable can alter drastically the impedance and radiation behaviors. In this paper a new broadband measurement method based on RF/optical transceivers device which avoid the coaxial cable disturbance is presented. A validation based on an arbitrary load and a canonical antenna measurement is proposed. An implemented use case is presented for a TETRA Pager.","PeriodicalId":409536,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE Conference on Antenna Measurements & Applications (CAMA)","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114990156","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A localization system, working in the SRD (Short Range Devices) frequency band of 863870MHz dedicated to the laboratory mice, is presented in this paper. It is constituted of a battery-less RFID tag implanted in a mouse phantom model, interrogated by an array of four cross printed dipoles used as emitting antennas connected to an external reader. The device is applied to a standard plexiglas rack cage for housing mice. The mouse phantom model localization in the cage is deduced from the Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI) level measurements of each antenna. Four zones are defined, one for each antenna and the position is determined by the highest received RSSI level. Two cases have been considered depending if there is one or four phantom models present simultaneously in the cage. Results show a good correlation between the real positions and the RSSI levels obtained by the four antennas.","PeriodicalId":409536,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE Conference on Antenna Measurements & Applications (CAMA)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115385132","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
