The CBR users and the VBR users are treated equally when assigning power and rate by the without-priority CPRC algorithm; while the CBR users are given higher priority by the priority-based CPRC algorithm. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithms can provide better performance than SPC (selective power control) algorithm proposed by S.-L.Kim. Comparing with the without-priority CPRC, the priority-based CPRC can provide lower outage probability for CBR users and less transmission power at the cost of throughput of VBR users under heavy system load.","PeriodicalId":408368,"journal":{"name":"2006 First International Conference on Communications and Networking in China","volume":"152 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132729371","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At the same time, according to the results of Min Dong, different MAC mechanisms should be applied to different SNR regimes. But no existing MAC schemes design exploiting spatial correlation take this into consideration. This paper tried to seamlessly adapt the MAC behavior between the above two medium access schemes in the process of exploiting spatial correlation. The design, implementation and performance evaluation of a hybrid MAC protocol, called HS-Sift, is presented in this paper. HS-Sift divided the entire sensing region into three sub-areas and applied different MAC mechanisms to each part. Under the proposed scheme, sensor nodes around the sensing region border sleep most of the time, sensor nodes near the event site are carefully scheduled to achieve high channel utilization and sensor nodes lie between competing for the shared channel with different transmitting probability and backoff time. Extensive simulation has been done to verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheme in terms of energy consumption, transmission delay while ensuring a maximum reconstruction distortion requirement.","PeriodicalId":408368,"journal":{"name":"2006 First International Conference on Communications and Networking in China","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121590785","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By presenting a mathematical model based on a packet-dropped setting, we extended the familiar LQG separation principle, proposed an optimal algorithm irrespective of the packet drop pattern of the networked robot. For the case of packet drops occurring according to a Markov chain, the stability analysis was carried out. We used the uncertainty threshold principle to show that under certain conditions there was a rate for dropped packets for which an undisturbed networked control system with imperfect state observation was mean square stable, used a sub-optimal method to simplify the calculation of the estimator and controller, got the solution to the Riccati-like equation and guaranteed the mean square stability of the NRS with perfect state information.","PeriodicalId":408368,"journal":{"name":"2006 First International Conference on Communications and Networking in China","volume":"112 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117281703","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The existing triggers do not consider whether the wavelength availability state is changing from free to busy or from busy to free. But these two kinds of changes do not affect the routing in the same way which is neglected in the previous works. DT takes this into consideration. We evaluate the existing triggers and our triggers by means of simulation. To be adaptive to the harsh environment, we propose an energy-aware, load-balancing and fault-tolerant routing scheme, termed as ELFR. We first present a network robustness model. Based on this model, we design the route discovery phase to make the sensors to construct into a hop-leveled network which is mesh structure. We adopt a cross-layer design to measure the transmission delay so as to detect the failed nodes. The routing scheme works with ACK feedback mechanism to transfer control messages to avoid producing extra control overhead messages. When nodes fail, the new healthy paths will be selected locally without rerouting. Simulation results show that our scheme is much robust, and it achieves better energy efficiency, load balancing and maintains good end-to-end delay.","PeriodicalId":408368,"journal":{"name":"2006 First International Conference on Communications and Networking in China","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116432043","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on a result from multivariate statistical theory, this paper shows that the statistically performance analysis for single-sided spatially correlated multiple-input multiple output (MIMO) Ricean fading channels can be replaced approximately by the corresponding analysis for single-sided correlated MIMO Rayleigh channels. In particular, an approximation closed-form expression for the Shannon capacity of single-sided correlated Ricean MIMO channels is given. It is shown by simulation that the approximation to the MIMO Shannon capacity is very accurate even for a small number of antenna elements, various correlation conditions, a wide range of Ricean K-factors, and low to high transmitting signal-to-noise ratio values. Based on the simulation results, it is guessed that the approximation is a lower bound on the MIMO Shannon capacity.","PeriodicalId":408368,"journal":{"name":"2006 First International Conference on Communications and Networking in China","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122030116","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
