Besides the tree, another popular network topology is the tree of rings which is obtained by interconnecting rings in a tree structure such that any two rings share at most one node. A polynomial-time optimal algorithm and an approximation algorithm are given for the RWA problem in bounded-degree tree and tree of rings networks, respectively.","PeriodicalId":408368,"journal":{"name":"2006 First International Conference on Communications and Networking in China","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129184233","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In pilot symbol aided channel estimation methods, the LS channel estimation can be viewed as a noisy observation of the true channel frequency response, so the noise component can be compressed through signal subspace projecting. In this paper, we focus on parametric channel estimation method combined with subspace projecting. First, we estimate the signal space of the OFDM system, and then we can use ESPRIT method to estimate the multipath delay of wireless channel, finally we use subspace projecting to get more accurate channel estimation. When the channel multipath delays vary with time, the signal subspace should be tracked to keep the efficiency of channel estimation. Computer simulations show that the performance of our method is much better than traditional channel estimation methods and its nonparametric counterpart.","PeriodicalId":408368,"journal":{"name":"2006 First International Conference on Communications and Networking in China","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116351238","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The ratio of rms delay spread to symbol period is from 0.02 to 0.2. The average bit-error-rate (BER) and throughput are investigated subject to the instantaneous BER constraint and the average BER constraint. Results show that an increase in power or a reduction in delay spread will lead to the increase of the average throughput under the two constraints, whereas they will not necessarily result in a decrease in the average BER under the instantaneous BER constraint. The superiority to individual QPSK mode is investigated in the delay spread immunity at last.","PeriodicalId":408368,"journal":{"name":"2006 First International Conference on Communications and Networking in China","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116360921","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In a PSN, because the nodes are constantly moving and their communication abilities are limited, the design of networking protocols and applications is challenging. This paper presents a new communications scheme for PSN, called Osmosis, based on the biological phenomenon. We show how this scheme can be applied to file sharing. This scheme uses epidemic routing to perform file lookup and achieves controlled flooding for file transfer. The flooding requires very little state information, which is collected during the lookup. This paper analyzes the performance of Osmosis in simulation studies based on real mobility traces.","PeriodicalId":408368,"journal":{"name":"2006 First International Conference on Communications and Networking in China","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115618582","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To improve the utilization of on-board buffer resources and satellite downlink, a cross-layer discarding strategy, ECTD (erroneous cell tail drop), has been suggested and theoretically analyzed by the authors. In this paper, ECTD is further studied through simulations. Unlike most other studies that use only one performance metric, we adopt two metrics - goodput and effective throughput, to respectively measure the transmission efficiency of higher-layer packets and downlink utilization. Simulation results show that ECTD could improve the transferring performance of on-board switch in measurement of goodput and effective throughput, and the improvement of effective throughput is much greater than that of Goodput.","PeriodicalId":408368,"journal":{"name":"2006 First International Conference on Communications and Networking in China","volume":"22 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114130280","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

But as the game between attackers and defenders goes further into payload confusion, the approximate string matching technology is needed, especially large-scale approximate multiple string matching technology. In this paper, we propose one practical algorithm, LargePEX, for large scale approximate multiple string matching based on edit distance. The algorithm is basically extended from PEX, an algorithm of approximate single string matching, with the idea of filtering and verification. LargePEX is finely designed to fit for large-scale matching using fine grain steps analyses. Some experiments are presented to verify the efficiency of LargePEX. As the results show, for the set of 10k strings, the average network payload checking speed using this algorithm can achieve 25 MBps-40 MBps, enough for 100 Mbps Ethernet. With hardware upgrading, the algorithm is also practical for Gigabit Ethernet. So LargePEX provides a new way for defenders to develop more effective methods to protect valuable resources and prevent intrusions by payload checking.","PeriodicalId":408368,"journal":{"name":"2006 First International Conference on Communications and Networking in China","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114226749","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This interpolator is based on the discrepancy in the predictability between NBI and the spread spectrum signal (SS), and then uses a linear interpolation of the received signal to estimate NBI. Because of QR-decomposition operation instead of inverting the correlation matrix and a novel variable with a small dynamic range, the performances of QRD-LSL interpolators outperform ones of LSL predictors and LSL interpolators. It was shown that the QRD-LSL interpolators can obtain more 4 dB processing gain than LSL predictors and LSL predictors, and its total computational complexity scales linearly with the interpolation order.","PeriodicalId":408368,"journal":{"name":"2006 First International Conference on Communications and Networking in China","volume":"179 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114847482","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
