Objectives: To assess the pre-test and post-test knowledge of mothers of under-five children, evaluate the effectiveness of the structured teaching programme on the knowledge of mothers of under-five children, and to find the association of their pre-test knowledge scores regarding the management of febrile convulsions with their selected demographic variables. Methodology: A quantitative research approach with pre-experimental one-group pre-test post-test design was used in this study conducted on 50 mothers at SKIMS, Soura, Srinagar. The assessment of knowledge was done by using a self-structured interview schedule. Results: The pre-test showed that 88% of respondents had inadequate knowledge, 12% had moderate knowledge, and none had adequate knowledge. Post-test showed that 78% had adequate knowledge, 22% had moderate knowledge, and none had inadequate knowledge. The mean post-test knowledge score of the study subjects was significantly higher than the mean pre-test knowledge score at 0.05 level of significance. There was a non-significant association of pre-test knowledge scores of study subjects regarding the management of febrile convulsions with their selected demographic variables. Conclusion: Majority of the study subjects had inadequate knowledge regarding the management of febrile convulsions which indicates that they need to gain awareness about the management of febrile convulsions. An increase in the knowledge of participants was seen after the administration of the structured teaching programme.","PeriodicalId":408166,"journal":{"name":"Indian Journal of Holistic Nursing","volume":"79 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123934766","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The more an individual adopts coping strategies, the less his or her stress, the better his or her mental health. The present study aimed to assess the level of stress and coping mechanism adopted by primigravida women. Objectives: The objectives of the study were to assess the level of stress and coping mechanism adopted by the primigravida women, find the association of their stress and coping mechanism with selected demographic variables. Methodology: A quantitative research approach with descriptive design was used. 100 primigravida women were selected by non-probability purposive sampling. Assessment of stress and coping mechanism was done by using a modified -structured PSS checklist and coping checklist respectively. Results: Findings of the present study showed that majority of the study subjects (81%) had mild level of stress whereas, 17% of study subjects had moderate level of stress and very few (2%) had severe level of stress. Maximum of study subjects (60%) had average coping whereas, 38% had good coping and very few (2%) had poor coping. The (Mean±SD) for stress and coping mechanism of study subjects was 7.04±2.93 and 24.42±2.59 respectively. Conclusion: Majority of the study subjects had mild level of stress during pregnancy. Methodology: Quantitative research approach in SMHS Hospital Srinagar, purposive sampling technique was used on 100 family members of drug-addicted patients. The obtained data was analysed by using descriptive and inferential statistics. Result: The findings of the study revealed that the mean, median, standard deviation and mean percentage of burden score of family members is 90.58; 91; 7.54.; with maximum score 105 and minimum score 72, range 33 with mean percentage 75.48 respectively. The present study indicates that maximum of respondents 90 (90%) had severe burden, 10 (10%) had moderate burden. The Chi-square value shows that there is significant association between the burden score level and demographic variables [Gender (P=0.4), type of family (P=0.28) and relation with patient (P=0.000)]. Conclusion: Majority of the subjects whose relatives were seeking treatment at drug de-addiction centre experienced severe burden, as they were less social. Both genders experienced moderate to severe burden but females had more burden than males. There was significant association of the level of perceived social burden with selected demographic variables such as gender, type of family and relation with patient.
