Accordingly, there are various IoT devices. There is an extremely wide variety of data from IoT devices such as images, and sounds. It will become possible to construct a heterogeneous remote monitoring IoT system using various valuations of IoT devices. However, a heterogeneous remote monitoring IoT system cannot send data in completely because almost all mobile network services for the IoT system do not guarantee bandwidth. In this paper, we propose a priority control mechanism for a heterogeneous remote monitoring IoT system. The proposed mechanism enables a best-effort IoT system that guarantees only the minimum necessary data telecommunications. The proposed mechanism controls the priority by using application requirements. We implemented the proposed mechanism and evaluated its effectiveness with a sending ratio and average delay time of each priority. The sending ratio results of each priority increased to 29.2% in daytime. The average delay time results of each priority decreased by up to 96.0% in nighttime.","PeriodicalId":406787,"journal":{"name":"Adjunct Proceedings of the 13th International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous Systems: Computing Networking and Services","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132372042","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main problem in collecting data process is how to cover all segments the street sides and select a minimal number of participants in each street segment that preserves the energy of the mobile devices and prolongs the MCS network lifetime. To solve this problem, a new flow coverage scheme is proposed to cover a specific street and achieve the coverage requirements. The proposed scheme is based on using a modified localization method that uses a minimal usage of GPS and utilizes the Zig-bee technology to communicate with the neighbor nodes and estimate the distance between nodes by using the Time of Arrival method. Experimental results by using a real data show that the proposed localization and coverage scheme can achieve high localization accuracy, reduce the usage of location sensors, and prove that the proposed street coverage scheme achieves the coverage requirements.","PeriodicalId":406787,"journal":{"name":"Adjunct Proceedings of the 13th International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous Systems: Computing Networking and Services","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132701536","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the latter step, an external geographic database, which contains pairs of place/facility names and latitude/longitude values, is used. However, if former place/facility names are used in a historical document, it is impossible to assign latitude and longitude values to them, even though their current names are listed in the database. Furthermore, if there are multiple identical place/facility names in the geographical database, we will have to choose the correct one. In this paper, we propose a method to construct a database that contains current and former place/facility name pairs. We applied a machine learning-based information extraction method to some text corpora, and automatically extracted current and former place/facility name pairs. We also propose a method that disambiguates the same place/facility names. We conducted some experiments to confirm the effectiveness of our method.","PeriodicalId":406787,"journal":{"name":"Adjunct Proceedings of the 13th International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous Systems: Computing Networking and Services","volume":"131 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114861342","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to efficiently power sensor nodes from UAVs using wireless power transfer, an appropriate UAV navigation algorithm is necessary. UAVs can locate a certain sensor roughly, but they cannot find the exact location. In our proposed method, a UAV draws circles using each point as a center and each distance as a radius. Then, it counts the number of intersections of the circles and quickly approximates the exact location of the sensor with the densest intersections as a near-optimal point. There have been several studies of battery-less wireless sensor networks (WSNs) for agricultural sensing, and some recent studies have used optimal tracking methods for UAVs to wirelessly power sensor nodes. However, these proposed systems were designed without considering the time needed to complete the wireless power transfer to each node. Because a UAV's battery capacity is limited, the area coverable by a UAV is determined by the amount of time needed to power all the sensor nodes in the field. Thus, if a navigation algorithm can enable UAVs to reach the near-optimal point more quickly, fewer flight tasks will be needed to cover the fields, which will reduce system operating costs. We compared our proposed method to a conventional hill-climbing algorithm in terms of navigation accuracy and time needed to power the sensor nodes. The results showed that the proposed algorithm performed 30% better than the conventional algorithm.","PeriodicalId":406787,"journal":{"name":"Adjunct Proceedings of the 13th International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous Systems: Computing Networking and Services","volume":"136 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133531893","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Also, the device will not have the powerful computation and storage ability. Many studies have focused on the lightweight authentication between the cloud server and the client in this environment. They can use the cloud server to help sensors or proxies to finish the authentication. But in the client side, how to create the group session key without the cloud capability is the most important issue in IoT environments. The most popular application network of IoT environments is the wireless body area network (WBAN). In WBAN, the proxy usually needs to control and monitor user's health data transmitted from the sensors. In this situation, the group authentication and group session key generation is needed. In this paper, in order to provide an efficient and robust group authentication and group session key generation in the client side of IoT environments, we propose a lightweight authentication scheme with dynamic group members in IoT environments. Our proposed scheme can satisfy the properties including the flexible generation of shared group keys, the dynamic participation, the active revocation, the low communication and computation cost, and no time synchronization problem. Also our scheme can achieve the security requirements including the mutual authentication, the group session key agreement, and prevent all various well-known attacks.","PeriodicalId":406787,"journal":{"name":"Adjunct Proceedings of the 13th International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous Systems: Computing Networking and Services","volume":"42 5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126752079","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The presented scheme efficiently estimates the available bandwidth based on a proxy technique that conveys application data by piggybacking inside the probing packets, which results in a significantly fewer overheads of native active measurement. At the same time, since the scheme is accomplished without relying on superuser (root) privileges on off-the-shelf Android smart-phones and without any changes to the existing client applications and legacy servers, it has considerable potential for general acceptance. Through the preliminary experiments with the prototype implementation on the Internet, we confirmed the feasibility and the effectiveness of the proposed scheme where \"deployability\" is the chief concern.","PeriodicalId":406787,"journal":{"name":"Adjunct Proceedings of the 13th International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous Systems: Computing Networking and Services","volume":" 5","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120832072","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is important that smart grid users be able to estimate surplus battery energy and/or surplus capacity in advance of deploying EVs. We constructed a database, the Energy COnsumption LOG (ECOLOG) Database System, to store vehicle daily logs acquired by smartphones placed in vehicles. The electrical energy consumption is estimated from GPS coordinate data using an EV energy-consumption model. This research specifically examines commuting with a vehicle used for same route every day. We corrected GPS coordinate data by map matching, and input the data to the EV energy consumption model. We regard the remaining battery capacity data acquired by the EV CAN as correct data. Then we evaluate the accuracy of driving energy consumption logs as estimated using the corrected GPS coordinate data.","PeriodicalId":406787,"journal":{"name":"Adjunct Proceedings of the 13th International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous Systems: Computing Networking and Services","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115284759","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed sensor is based on an energy harvesting technique and consists of an antenna and a rectification circuit of a Cockcroft-Walton multiplier. From the fact that a human body is dielectric and couples with a close antenna, the strength of the environmental noise captured by the antenna and the output of the sensor change according to the distance between the sensor and the body. This paper reports the results of some experiments that explores the parameters of the sensor under several conditions and show its feasibility as well as an example application. As a result, the proposed human detection sensor is confirmed to be quite promising to achieve a sensor node that reports the presence of a person to an external system through wireless communication and works without a battery.","PeriodicalId":406787,"journal":{"name":"Adjunct Proceedings of the 13th International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous Systems: Computing Networking and Services","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130202965","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we propose a method that estimates the walking speed and walked section of a pedestrian by using a smartphone equipped with a magnetometer. To grasp people flow velocity, the walking speed of a pedestrian is an important scale. Besides this, to grasp low flow velocity spots such as an intersection and an area in front of a door, we need to estimate the walked section, that is, the area between two points that a pedestrian walked within a period of time. In our proposed method, first we measure magnetic field data series while a participant is walking, and we generate magnetic signatures by relating each magnetic field datum to the corresponding position. Secondly, we detect partial magnetic signature that is similar to the magnetic field data series of an unknown walked section by using DTW (Dynamic Time Warping), and we obtain the walked section from the detected partial magnetic signature. Finally, we calculate walking speed from the distance of walked section and walked time. We conducted an experiment to evaluate the accuracy of walking speed estimation and walked section estimation. The results in a crowded passage showed that the average error of walking speed estimation was 0.09 m/s and the average error of walked section estimation was 0.7 m in the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":406787,"journal":{"name":"Adjunct Proceedings of the 13th International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous Systems: Computing Networking and Services","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127202444","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
