PUCCH introduced a new format — format 3 — to accommodate the increase of Hybrid Automatic Repeat request (HARQ) bits resulting from Multi-carrier transmission. This format suffers from poor noise estimation accuracy problem that affects the detection probability and degrades the whole system throughput. Two independent algorithms for noise estimation are introduced in this paper for CDMA multiuser multicarrier PUCCH format 3. The first algorithm is based on noise detection from data symbols, while the second algorithm is based on noise estimation from pilot symbols. The proposed filter is composed of a second order tri-section SIRs loaded with a short stub resulting in four arbitrary frequency modes, three of them created by the TSSIR while the fourth is dependent on the TSSIR and the short stubs. The inclusion of the short stubs allows for creation of a much lower frequency band without sacrificing the filter size or insertion loss. As proof of concept, a quadband filter operating in the 0.75, 2.1, 3.5, and 5.2 GHz frequency bands is designed and implemented with 60% reduction in filter size. The fabricated filter achieves 3-dB fractional bandwidths of 38.6, 4.6, 10.14, and 5.3% while presenting an insertion loss of 0.65, 1.3, 1, and 1.8 dB, in the four bands, respectively. Out-of-band rejection better than 20dB is achieved up to a frequency 10.5 times the lowest operating frequency; this is attributed to the use of simple T-shaped feed lines both at the filter input and output. Discrimination between tampered images and authentic images is required to ensure the origin of the data carried by images. In this paper, high-pass filtering and histogram equalization are used as pre-processing stages to reinforce the details of the images prior to forgery detection. The detail reinforcement process can achieve high classification accuracy. Illumination histogram is estimated after pre-processing and the peak value of the histogram derivative is estimated and used as a metric for forgery detection. The philosophy behind this strategy is that in the case of forgery, the forged regions are subject to different illumination conditions, and hence this can be reflected in the illumination histogram peaks. A thresholding approach is adopted in this paper. Simulation results show that the PAPR performance for the proposed B-SLM technique is approximately the same as the PAPR performance of the Convectional Selective Mapping C-SLM but, B-SLM technique provides a reduction in bandwidth without a significant degradation in Bit-Error Rate (BER) performance. In Japan, the IoT Acceleration Consortium was established in June 2015 as an industry-university-government collaboration. To deploy various IoT services, it is important that the IoT platform provides information processing and communication network technologies. This study focuses on communication network technologies in the IoT platform. In IoT, a large number of data packets are transferred across communication networks. Therefore, some functions from conventional Internet technologies, such as access protocols and traffic control mechanisms, need to be enhanced for IoT. This study clarifies the network architecture, including wide area networks and area networks/proximity networks, for IoT. Then, it specifies the requirements of these networks and proposes technologies that can meet these requirements. Mammography is a low-dose x-ray procedure that allows visualization of the internal structure of the breast. Detection and diagnosis of breast cancer in its early stage increases the chances for successful treatment and complete recovery of the patient. Contrast enhancement of mammogram images is necessary to enable the radiologist to detect breast cancer in early stage. This paper presents contrast enhancement algorithm for assisting the analysis of digital mammograms. According to the radiologists' opinion, the best contrast enhancement method does not affect the normal breast tissue while enhances the suspicious regions. The proposed Selective Energy-Based Histogram Equalization (SEBHe) algorithm depends on this notice. The SEBHE algorithm uses only the image areas with high energy to build the histogram unlike conventional histogram equalization algorithm that enhances all pixels of the mammogram image as well as the background noise. Our approach is valid for time varying channel, which occur for example, in mobile WiMAX and DVB-T. For time invariant channels, our scheme yields perfect estimates. The proposed algorithm is based on the principle of basis expansion and relies on Legendre polynomials as bases functions. We are using the block-type pilot structure in our algorithm, in which a complete OFDM symbol is dedicated to pilots before transmitting the data symbols, which my vary in number according to channel conditions. Numerical simulations illustrate the gain in the performance, bandwidth, power efficiency, and complexity gains achieved by our schemes at high Doppler frequencies. The unit-cell element is a multilayered metamaterial structure of a graphene split ring resonator (SRR) with two variable gaps with tunable conductivity. The metamaterial properties of the unit-cell element are investigated from 0.74 THz to 0.94 THz for different conductivities of the graphene material. A parametric study of the transmission properties of the metamaterial unit-cell element is investigated. The radiation characteristics of 169 unit-cell elements of the three layers graphene metamaterial lenses are analyzed for different applied DC voltages. The gain and side-lobe level of the proposed lens are improved by using an averaging process on the transmission phase used for array construction. The lens introduces a high gain of about 18.5 dB at frequencies 0.83 THz, 0.85 THz, and 0.86 THz for chemical potentials = 0.4eV, 0.5 eV, and 0.8eV, respectively. However, OFDM suffers from high Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR) problem. Signals with high PAPR require Power Amplifier (PA) to work with large Input-Back-Off (IBO), which reduces the PA efficiency. On the other hand small IBO degrade BER performance and increases out-of-band (OOB) radiation. In literature, there are various PAPR reduction techniques. Among them deliberate clipping is the simplest, that has high deterministic PAPR reduction gain. In this paper, it will be shown that deliberate clipping is worsen the problem and cannot be used without Iterative Clipping Noise Cancellation (ICNC) in the receiver. This leads to inter-carrier interference (ICI) which degrades the system performance. In this paper, the time inversion and symbol time compression (TI-STC) scheme is proposed for ICI cancellation in high mobility OFDM systems. The proposed TI-STC scheme includes time inversion (TI) process and symbol time compression (STC) process. The proposed TI-STC scheme alleviates ICI without loss of the system throughput compared to Frank's windowing scheme. The proposed TI-STC scheme operates efficiently up to 40% of normalized Doppler frequency compared to Frank's windowing scheme. The proposed TI-STC scheme is investigated in digital video broadcasting terrestrial-2 (DVB-T2) system under COST 207 typical rural (Ru) environment multi-path fading channel for BPSK modulation scheme.
