These tests have allowed for evaluation of the accuracy and measurement methodology for a large number of commercially available instruments. This paper presents the laboratory test results for the performance of the different instruments. All of the instruments were simultaneously fed the same voltage signal. Lab tests were conducted which included most common power quality indices such as: steady state voltage, frequency variation, unbalance voltage, voltage fluctuation and short duration voltage variation (sag).","PeriodicalId":406398,"journal":{"name":"2004 11th International Conference on Harmonics and Quality of Power (IEEE Cat. These approaches are based on power splitting using several identical active filter modules, or on frequency splitting where each module is dedicated to take car of a specific current harmonic. In this paper, the constraints related to their control blocks allowing to generate the current reference and to drive gating signals for the IGBTs or GTOs are analysed. A pq algorithm associated with resonant current control loops (RCC) are successfully used to control the active power filters. The RCC uses a high dynamic feedback loop with analogy components. For all approaches, the same voltage IP controller is used to regulate the DC bus voltages. Therefore, efforts are being made so that power electronic system or any other load drawing reactive volt-amperes is made to appear as linear load drawing current in-phase with the utility voltage. One of the solutions towards this end is to employ active power filters (APF). This paper presents a control technique for unified power quality conditioner (UPQC), which is a combination of series APF and shunt APF. A control strategy based on unit vector template generation is discussed in this paper with the focus on the mitigation of voltage harmonics present in the utility voltage. Particular attention is paid to show the influence of the neutral conductor configuration on the cable ampacity. Voltage sags are the most common power quality disturbances causing disruption of consumer equipment. The paper therefore, focuses on voltage sags and discusses economic assessment of power quality. By combining the probabilistic assessment of voltage sags with the voltage tolerance curves of electrical equipment an estimate can be made of the sag events responsible for tripping of the equipment over a specified period of time. If the tripping costs per event of the equipment are available, the assessment of customer financial losses due to the inadequate quality of supply can be made. The effect of sensitive load composition, i.e., type of the industrial process on the customer financial losses (damage costs) due to expected voltage sags at a bus has been investigated in the paper.
