Identifying predictive markers is crucial for timely intervention. Serum β-HCG, known for its diverse role in pregnancy, is explored due to its potential involvement in vascular remodeling and angiogenesis. The prospective observational study involves 200 pregnant women, monitored from early gestation to delivery. Serum β-HCG levels are evaluated at different time points. Data collection includes clinical assessments, obstetric evaluations, and blood sample analysis. Statistical analysis is conducted using MedCalc software. Among 200 cases, elevated serum β-HCG levels (≥2 MoM) show a higher prevalence of hypertensive disorders (HDOP) compared to lower levels (<2 MoM). Maternal and fetal outcomes are explored, revealing adverse outcomes associated with elevated β-HCG levels. Age, religion, and parity distributions are analyzed for their correlation with HDOP. The study establishes a strong correlation between the onset of HDOP and increased β-HCG levels. There is no discernible relationship between age and HDOP, while religious variations and parity suggest potential relationships. The study also highlights a significant link between proteinuria and HDOP. For a thorough understanding, more studies with bigger sample numbers and controlled designs are advised.","PeriodicalId":404560,"journal":{"name":"Southeast Asian Journal of Health Professional","volume":"11 11","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138997747","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

But the incidence of paclitaxel-associated HFS is rare. Here, we present such a rare case of paclitaxel induced HFS in a 70-year-old female with advanced metastatic squamous cell carcinoma of the buccal mucosa. Clinical presentation was of grade 3 severity with blisters formation and ulceration requiring discontinuation of paclitaxel. The intent to present such a rare case is to create awareness about such occurrences while administering paclitaxel and for prompt action; as delay can lead to severe limitations of daily activities of the patient therein hampering the quality of life.","PeriodicalId":404560,"journal":{"name":"Southeast Asian Journal of Health Professional","volume":"15 13","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138970608","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Students are more vulnerable to this condition as a result of the high level of study demand and performance pressure, especially medical students, who are more prone to extreme stress. Despite this, there have been no recent, multicentre, quantassessing medical students’ greatest stressors. Thus, the aim of this study is to explore and identify the main causes of depression among medical students at Kabul University while examining corresponding data on depression among medical students. 129 medical students at Kabul Medical Sciences were assessed using an online questionnaire form. There are approximately 3000 students currently studying medicine at KUMS from the 1st year to the practical period for MD and DMD. Approximately 400 questionnaires were distributed among the students. 129 students filled out and returned the questionnaires either by hand or by email. 52.8% of students said that the contents of the university’s books cause depression. The total percentage of depression among the medical students was found to be 65.5%. Significance with gender was seen, but no change with age was seen. The study showed that the prevalence of depression among Kabul University of Medical Science students is due to the university’s curriculum. Therefore, attempts should be made to reform the curriculum and teaching methods of the instructors by providing a comprehensive educational program at the university that eliminates the causes and factors that have a direct relationship with educational stressors among medical students. Future research should seek to identify other stressors and suggest possible methods of eradicating them.","PeriodicalId":404560,"journal":{"name":"Southeast Asian Journal of Health Professional","volume":"25 58","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139000677","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Pregnant women attending the antenatal clinics, screened for possible participation in the present study after explaining the nature of the study. A patient was diagnosed to have PIH if there was a rise in systolic pressure of at least 30 mmHg or a diastolic of at least 15 mmHg over the previously known blood pressure or an absolute rise in the blood pressure of at least 140/90 mmHg was taken to diagnose women as a case of PIH. Out of the 100 cases, maximum 35 cases (35%) were low risk primigravidae, followed by cases with history of PIH (15%), obesity (14%), Anemia (10%),Essential hypertension (7%), IUGR (7%),Which constitute 53%. Rest of the cases was family history of hypertension (6%), oligohydromnios (5%) and Twin (1%).Maximum cases i.e. 40% were illiterate, 28% cases were educated up to primary school and only 20% were educated up to middle school and above. Total 60% cases were literate. 77.2% babies were alive, Abortion were 5.3% and 16.76% cases were with poor perinatal outcome. Study shows that 22% cases showed abnormal waveform in colour Doppler, out of which 90.90% developed PIH, while 78% cases were with normal waveform out of which only 10.25% developed PIH later. For prediction of IUGR out of 22% of abnormal waveform 86.36 developed IUGR and out of 78% of normal waveform 20.51% developed IUGR. We conclude that a women with high risk factor (nulliparity and others) having abnormal uterine artery waveforms between 16-28 weeks of gestation (presence of diastolic notch with/without high resistance) are at higher risk of development of PIH (90.90%) and IUGR (95%). An important aspect is the high negative predictive value for PIH (89.74%) and IUGR (78.66%) which helps to detect those patient who will not develop PIH and IUGR early positive prediction enables, one to take preventive measures early thus improving both maternal and perinatal prognosis.","PeriodicalId":404560,"journal":{"name":"Southeast Asian Journal of Health Professional","volume":"268 9","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138996909","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To study the undergraduate medical students' perspectives towards online medical education programs during the COVID -19 pandemic. A descriptive cross-sectional research was conducted in which MBBS students who had undergone one year of online classes from four different medical colleges of central India. Participated students were administered a validated questionnaire consisting of 24 questions through Google forms. The data of 426 undergraduate medical students across four medical colleges in Central India was analysed. The percentage of male and female students were 52.8 and 47.2 respectively and the majority who attended online classes lived in urban areas (68.1%). Learning during the pandemic was heavily dependent on online classes (77.7%), which were accessed through smartphones (80%). There was a significant difference seen in time spent on digital education (p<0.001). Upon analysing the teaching methods, live tutorials (48.8%) and video tutorials (50.4%) scored high. The benefits of online education were its flexibility regarding time and pace of learning whereas internet connectivity and lack of interaction were its greatest disadvantagesThough introduced only as a stopgap arrangement to tide over the present crisis, technology enhanced learning is here to stay especially with advent of e-health platforms and teleconsultation.","PeriodicalId":404560,"journal":{"name":"Southeast Asian Journal of Health Professional","volume":"64 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138996258","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

He was asked to explain his fears by putting it on paper in the form of art. He chose to draw a few figures and explained his art with total clarity of thought. In such psychiatric cases where it is difficult to understand the personality of patient because of overcrowding of disease symptoms, art helped us as physicians to understand his personality in a much better way to prescribe the perfect similimum and experience the power of Homoeopathic medicines in bringing about gentle, rapid cure. In this particular case, we could also find that the pace of achieving cure after administration of correct homeopathic remedy is magical.","PeriodicalId":404560,"journal":{"name":"Southeast Asian Journal of Health Professional","volume":"69 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138997537","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Pigtail catheters are widely used as it is less invasive, less traumatic, and easier to perform and allows more ambulation. When compared to the chest thoracostomy tube, pig tail catheters are better tolerated. Here we present a case of a 43 year old man with multiple splenic abscesses in sepsis and left sided hydropneumothorax which was drained with a pigtail catheter. The plan initially was to perform the procedure under high thoracic epidural with ICD on standby. Half an hour into the procedure, due to incessant cough and movement, there was a need to supplement with general anaesthesia using a supraglottic airway (Proseal LMA size 3). The patient was on spontaneous ventilation with Propofol sedation using TCI pump. Procedure was conducted without further complications. The human bacteria from the endogenous organ microflora and the extrinsic environment continue to have a role in the development of wound infections. The development of postoperative wound infection has been linked to several different perioperative variables that have been studied in detail.  Numerous studies have shown that several surgical procedures are more susceptible to postoperative infection complications because of individual risk factors. The majority of patient- and procedure-related variables have been identified to influence the likelihood of surgical site infections in univariate or multivariate analysis. Preexisting infection, older age, and other dangerous pathogens, smoking, and diabetes is also possible patient-related variables.  Procedure-related variables include the length of the surgery, the quality of preoperative skin preparation and poor surgical skill. The goal of this study was to recognize the incidence of postoperative surgical wound infections, which is influenced by patient and surgical technique parameters.","PeriodicalId":404560,"journal":{"name":"Southeast Asian Journal of Health Professional","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130503473","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
