The power circuits of the D-STATCOM and the distribution network are modeled by specific blocks from the Power System Block set while the control system is modeled by Simulink blocks. A main feeder feeding a 10 MW load is abruptly disturbed by the inclusion of a sudden load of 10 MW thereby creating voltage sag. The work involves implementation of an Open loop control scheme for an induction motor. The technique is used extensively in the industry as it provides the accuracy required at minimal cost. Voltage/ frequency (v/f) controlled motors fall under the category of Variable Voltage Variable Frequency (VVVF) drives. To maintain maximum torque for a given working condition, the flux in the machine must be maintained constant. In other words, the ratio of Voltage to frequency must be held constant. For Variable Voltage Variable Frequency (VVVF) drives, there is a need to control the fundamental voltage of the inverter if its frequency (and therefore the frequency of the induction motor), need to be varied. To vary the fundamental component of the inverter, the Modulation Index of the carrier signal has to be changed. The speed at rated supply frequency is normally used as the base speed. At frequencies below the base speed, the supply magnitude needs to be reduced so as to maintain a constant Volt/Hertz. The FPGA controller is used to generate SPWM pulses based on the frequency input, that are used to control the inverter. The ability to automatically identify arrhythmias from ECG recordings is important for clinical diagnosis and treatment. In this paper we proposed an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) based cardiac arrhythmia disease diagnosis system using standard 12 lead ECG signal recordings data. In this study, we are mainly interested in classifying disease in normal and abnormal classes. We have used UCI ECG signal data to train and test three different ANN models. In arrhythmia analysis, it is unavoidable that some attribute values of a person would be missing. Therefore we have replaced these missing attributes by closest column value of the concern class. ANN models are trained by static backpropagation algorithm with momentum learning rule to diagnose cardiac arrhythmia. The classification performance is evaluated using measures such as mean squared error (MSE), classification specificity, sensitivity, accuracy, receiver operating characteristics (ROC) and area under curve (AUC). This paper also describes author defined algorithms for threshold detection for abnormality extraction, which gives excellent result compared to the threshold detection using Otsu's method. Different algorithms are used for T1 and T2 MRI Images. This paper does the comparison of different segmentation techniques. A swift action has to be taken in the relief work of the aftermath of earthquake affected areas, such that any delay in the rescue could lead the death toll to rise. The same can be applied to war fields too. The proposed research focuses on human beings who are alive and struggling for their lives either in the war field or due to natural disasters like earthquakes, to be recognized and rescued in a much faster pace. The robot senses the alive condition of human and sends a notification to the mobile to capture the images of the same. The captured image is then sent to the server to view and act accordingly. The method of multiplicative uncertainty has been employed to model the variations of the transmission line reactances. The design is carried out applying robustness criteria for improving stability and performance. A loop-shaping technique has been employed to select a suitable open-loop transfer function, from which the robust controller function is constructed. The controller is tested for a number of disturbances. The damping provided by the robust controller is compared with a fixed-parameter PID controller, whose gains were calculated through a pole-placement technique. It has been observed that the PID control is ineffective at operating points other than nominal. The robust design has been demonstrated to provide extremely good damping characteristics over a range of operating conditions. Here the H¡¿loop shaping technique is applied to design robust STATCOM controller. The designed robust STATCOM controller is implemented in Single Machine Infinite Bus power system. It is always desirable to deliver the entire load on a single optimal path depending upon the current network load status. This paper employs the use of ant colony optimization (ACO) for routing and wavelength assignment (RWA) problem of all-optical WDM networks along with survivability. Our algorithm proactively updates the changes in the network status and finds optimal and sub-optimal paths depending upon the number of free wavelengths available per link along the path from source to destination. When a connection request arrives at a node, the data is routed through the readily available optimal path thereby reducing the setup time. Furthermore, the approach is self-regulating i.e. it automatically adapts to traffic load variations across the network. Hence an intelligent sensor can be used in place of gas analyzer which is economical as well as provides information regarding the flue gas emissions based on the color of the furnace flame. The intelligent sensor is capable of classifying the flame images based on the various features that are extracted. The features extracted vary from complete combustion category to incomplete combustion category. The attributes are selected using the CFS method. The selected attributes are then classified by the Radial Basis Function (RBF) classifier so as to give the information about the flue gas emissions based on the color of the flame images at the furnace level itself.
