This circular seems to align with international school safety policies, where additional regulations and safety guidelines are put into practice in school programs such as physical education. Despite this, studies that have applied a critical discourse perspective on regulative texts in physical education seem scarce. The purpose of this article is to examine how teachers’ risk and safety management in physical education is constructed in five regulative documents governing primary and secondary schools in Norway. Norman Fairclough’s critical discourse methodology has been applied to conduct a linguistic and contextual analysis of language. The analysis seems to reveal a discourse that challenge teachers’ autonomy and position. Because the discourse can appear to be neutral and imperative, it might be taken for granted in the field. The entrancement of a controller in examining teachers’ water competence seems to reflect ideals of revision and central control. This article therefore contributes to the understanding of regulative discourses and their power, in education and physical education.","PeriodicalId":403522,"journal":{"name":"Journal for Research in Arts and Sports Education","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123185780","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Gjennom en kreativ refleksiv analyse som plasserer seg kunnskapsteoretisk under performativ forskning, skapes ulike mulighetsrom mellom inkludering og estetisk tilnærming til læring. Disse mulighetsrommene er: fredskultur, kreativitet, kulturell bevissthet, følelsesmessig engasjement, utvikling og likeverdighet. Med fag og forskningsteori som velges og leses ut fra sosiale dimensjoner og performativ tenkning, bygges mulighetsrommene videre ut med områder. Deretter kobles de utbygde mulighetsrommene opp mot en pedagogisk og didaktisk sammenheng. Til slutt løfter artikkelen frem hvilke nye muligheter en tenkning om inkludering og estetisk tilnærming til læring kan ha, for gradvis å skape et nytt skolerom for alle elevene i skolen.","PeriodicalId":403522,"journal":{"name":"Journal for Research in Arts and Sports Education","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126304606","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The curriculum in Norway for compulsory education emphasizes the development of creativity in the art and crafts field more than in the other core subjects. However, the curriculum does not offer a clear definition of creativity or how creativity-related goals should be reached. According to prior research, teachers express different ideas about what creativity involves, and their conceptual understanding can affect their teaching practices. Results indicate that teachers hold beliefs that are in misalignment with recent literature, and a better conceptual understanding could support them in emphasizing creativity in the classroom. This applies especially to individual creative capacity, assessment, and the role played by domain knowledge in education.","PeriodicalId":403522,"journal":{"name":"Journal for Research in Arts and Sports Education","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132474570","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The academisation of arts education means that classical performance programmes are now marked by strong expectations of research paths, publications, and the standardisation of courses, grades and positions. Drawing on interviews with ten teachers and leaders within the field of higher music education, this article discusses notions of mandate, knowledge and research in classical performance music education in Norway. Against the backdrop of academisation, the aim of this article is to illuminate central tensions and negotiations concerning mandate, knowledge and research within higher music education. The problem concerns issues of who should be judged as qualified and who should have the authority to speak on behalf of the performing music expertise community. The study is part of the larger study Discourses of Academisation and the Music Profession in Higher Music Education (DAPHME), conducted by a team of senior researchers in Sweden, Norway and Germany. Through an analytic-theoretical reading of the empirical data, informed by Foucault’s power/knowledge concept, two discourses on mandate are identified (the awakening discourse and the Bildung discourse) as well as three discourses on knowledge (the handicraft discourse, the entrepreneurship discourse and the discourse of critical reflection) and two discourses on research (the collaborative discourse and the ‘perforesearch’ discourse). The latter of the two research discourses pinpoints a subject position as a musician/researcher with knowledge, craft and skills in both music performing and research.","PeriodicalId":403522,"journal":{"name":"Journal for Research in Arts and Sports Education","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125829155","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

De kreative mulighetene i spillet har gjort at lærere over hele verden har tatt det i bruk i undervisning. En skoleversjon av spillet har også blitt utviklet, der læreren har mulighet til å planlegge, styre og overvåke elevaktiviteten. Det overordnede målet med denne studien er å forstå bedre hvordan spillerens frihet endres når spillet går fra å være et mål i seg selv til å bli et verktøy for læring. I denne artikkelen ser jeg på fem ulike spillelementer som bare finnes i skoleversjonen av Minecraft, og som er laget for å hjelpe læreren til å kontrollere og styre elevaktivitet i spillet. Med utgangspunkt i Foucaults begrep maktens mikrofysikk, analyserer jeg hvordan de fem spillelementene er foreslått brukt i en hjelpetekst fra utvikleren og hvordan de faktisk blir brukt i tre undervisningsopplegg. Endelig forsøker jeg, å beskrive hvilke subjektsposisjoner som spillet og undervisningsoppleggene tilbyr lærere som bruker spillet i klasserommet.","PeriodicalId":403522,"journal":{"name":"Journal for Research in Arts and Sports Education","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124720328","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Den nye rammeplan for kulturskolen (Norsk kulturskoleråd, 2016) styrker og justerer retningen for kulturskolenes samfunnsoppdrag, og gir dermed også føringer for hva som bør finnes både av formell og realkompetanse. Denne artikkelen undersøker hvordan kulturskolerektorer i Buskerud, Telemark og Vestfold (BTV) tolker kompetansesituasjonen i sine institusjoner i relasjon til rammeplanens krav og intensjoner. Forskningsprosjektet som ligger til grunn for denne artikkelen viser at rektorene erfarer et behov for justert og styrket kompetanse hos kulturskolepedagogene innenfor den delen av kulturskolens samfunnsoppdrag som er tettest på sosiale perspektiver, og at de formelle kompetansene som de ansatte har ikke nødvendigvis sikrer dette. I artikkelens siste og mer eksplorerende del, foreslås forklaringer på hvordan dette har oppstått og hvordan dette kan løses.","PeriodicalId":403522,"journal":{"name":"Journal for Research in Arts and Sports Education","volume":"124 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115560788","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
