The objective of this research was to implement and evaluate the performance of an intelligent dual-axis solar tracking system in the Peruvian highlands. The solar tracker was implemented with double axis (two degrees of freedom), the movement of both axes was driven by two linear actuators, so that, this system was controlled by a programmable logic controller (PLC), following the trajectory of the sun during the day. The results showed that on completely sunny days the solar tracker has a photovoltaic performance 29.48% higher than a fixed system in capturing solar irradiation, on the contrary, on partially cloudy days the solar tracker has a similar performance to a fixed system with no significant increase in photovoltaic performance. Therefore, the Peruvian highlands have a high potential for solar photovoltaic energy on sunny days, which can be better exploited with solar tracking systems, however, the capture of solar irradiance is affected by transient cloud blockage.","PeriodicalId":403519,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE Engineering International Research Conference (EIRCON)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127934202","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this context, it is necessary to have systems that help to control the correct use of the face shield, techniques such as Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) can be used to implement these systems through the use of supervised learning applied to images obtaining a great performance in classification tasks. This work focuses mainly on the training and deployment of a CNN capable of identifying the correct use of the face shield. Two approaches were tested: training the CNN from scratch and using the transfer learning technique using as input data images collected in a real scenario as well as freely available repositories. The results obtained in terms of accuracy showed superior performance for the model trained from scratch compared to the model trained using the transfer learning technique.","PeriodicalId":403519,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE Engineering International Research Conference (EIRCON)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132790392","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The procedures of the PRISM methodology were used for the making of this paper. After an exhaustive search in scientific databases, 24 articles were selected, using as search criteria the previously mentioned period of time and terms such as “software applications”, “diagnosis”, “chronic diseases” and other related terms. As a result, we obtained that there are various approaches in the use of software applications in the diagnosis of chronic diseases and these can be organized into three categories: support for medical professionals, optimization of resources used in diagnosis and training for new doctors or practitioners. Finally, we conclude that in recent years a large amount of research has been published on the use of software applications in the diagnosis of chronic diseases, which do not try to replace medical professionals, but rather seek to complement their work to make it more efficient and accurate.","PeriodicalId":403519,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE Engineering International Research Conference (EIRCON)","volume":"76 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133651806","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The system consists of an intelligent head based on dc motors, which receives commands from the computer to perform the actions described above. With this system we avoid the contamination of the user with toxic substances released from the marker and we obtain greater speed and efficiency in the erasure of the whiteboard.","PeriodicalId":403519,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE Engineering International Research Conference (EIRCON)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123184733","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most of the exoskeletons designs in which soft technologies are incorporated do not allow movement of the thumb. Our design allows their user to flex and stretch the index finger, the middle finger and the thumb repeatedly with the possibility to train their memory movement by picking and releasing. This was achieved through a soft exoskeleton-like glove design fabricated with a 3D printer with flexible materials. The overall weight of this Soft Exoskeleton-like glove 155 g, not including the battery of 6V, the electronic components and the microcontroller which are placed in the forearm and have total weight of 159 g. Our device is able to provide the forces of 3,9N in cylindric grasp position and 1,6N in precision grasp. These movements are possible because the thumb can move according to the grasping. This could allow future users to train and rehabilitate outside of a specialized center for more frequent training by doing repetitive exercise.","PeriodicalId":403519,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE Engineering International Research Conference (EIRCON)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125577056","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the problems as-sociated with cleft lip patients is that, despite undergoing a surgical procedure, they lose the ability to correctly pronounce certain phonemes, words or sentences. For this reason, the developed solution seeks to support these patients through the remote management of speech therapy sessions in three different stages: grimaces, phonemes and vocabulary. Both the grimaces and phonemes stages will be qualified by a doctor through a web application that will receive the multimedia files sent by the patients from a mobile application. While, in the vocabulary stage, the grading will be completely automated thanks to the integration of speech recognition technology in the mobile application. It should be noted that, in order to achieve consistency on the patients' side, recreational activities will be implemented that enliven the learning of therapy sessions.","PeriodicalId":403519,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE Engineering International Research Conference (EIRCON)","volume":"274 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122861266","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective of this research was to compare the extreme solar irradiance between a fixed PV system and a solar tracker in the Peruvian highlands. The extreme solar irradiance of the fixed PV system and the solar tracker was determined with two calibrated cells, connected to a programmable logic controller (PLC), being monitored and stored in real time. A solar tracker with two degrees of freedom was used. The results show that during the experimental period, the maximum extreme solar irradiance was 1303.54 $W/m^{2}$ in the fixed PV system and 1506.93 $W/m^{2}$ in the solar tracker, an event that occurred on days with partial cloudiness caused by the transitory passage of clouds of less than 10 seconds. Therefore, extreme solar irradiance is a factor that significantly influences the operation of the photovoltaic system, even more so in the solar tracker because it follows the path of the sun throughout the day.","PeriodicalId":403519,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE Engineering International Research Conference (EIRCON)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126361842","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
