After the 2008 global financial crisis, global economic growth slowed. President Xi Jinping introduced the BRI in 2013. The initiative’s purpose is to energize and strengthen China's economic progress and advance cooperation between countries connected by it. This article considers the BRI's consequences and impacts on Gross Regional Product (GRP) development in some of the Chinese provinces most influenced by it. The data shows diminished GRP development in coming years. However, expanded highways, railways, and different components linked with framework projects demonstrate that the BRI will cast an optimistic effect on GRP development in the region. Despite this, there has been limited research done with an ecocritical approach to the Victorians’ interactions with the environment. Further, only a handful of scholars have analyzed Victorian novelists’ representations of their time’s ecology. This article discusses the relationship between man and nature as represented in Thomas Hardy’s novel “The Return of the Native”. Analyzing this work helps us understand Victorian ecological and social criticism of the linkage between man and environment, often considered at the time to be psychologically and biologically strange and intriguing. Analyzing the novel’s different characters and their qualities and interactions with the environment helps us to understand the link between man and his environment today. This article explains how and why Hardy portrays the place of man in the world using the setting of Egdon Heath. Digitalisation and cybernation of social, scientific and cultural life have caused the emergence of new forms and means of communication. That induces shaping some specific behavioural profiles and manifesting negative traits on the web that sociocultural shifts drive. Cyberbullying has become a highly unwelcome epiphenomenon in social media communication. The inevitable transformation of rapidly changing worldview paradigms, cultural sets and stereotypes actualise the processes determining it. Language reflects those processes and objectifies the modes of communication in cyberspace. They require new research strategies within an interdisciplinary approach. Nonverbal forms of cyberbullying are also fairly common; they combine with language structures to form syncretic patterns. The article discusses the theoretical bases of circulation of those patterns in the multimodal aspect as that approach moves beyond merely language analysis and reveals the polymorphism and multidiscursivity of online communication. Depending on the type of cyberbullying, using various verbal and nonverbal techniques may be of interest in controlling a cyberbully. Clarifying the strategies for representing cyberbullying contributes to a greater understanding of one of the most crucial aspects of social media communication. Parental supervision is required to counter the issue. This study identifies an association between online gaming disorder and family functions by studying university students in Karachi, Pakistan. It is a cross-sectional study and 350 university students were selected through a multi-stage stratified sampling technique. A validated and structured questionnaire assessed family functioning and internet addiction. Data was analyzed using a multivariate logistic regression to identify associations between family function and online gaming disorders. In total, 66 per cent of students were found to be addicted to videogames and 39 per cent of students were deficient in their role in the family. The decreased problem solving skills (Adjusted Odd Ratio AOR 2.02, 95 per cent CI 1.35-5.96, p-value 0.002), decreased roles in the family (AOR 2.99, 95 per cent CI 1.23-5.75, p-value 0.004) and bad communication skills (AOR 0.91, 95 per cent CI 0.59-2.94, p-value 0.567) were associated with severe online gaming disorder. The objective of this study is to compare the prevalence of Medical Student Syndrome among pre-clinical and clinical year medical students at public sector medical schools in Karachi, Pakistan. A cross-sectional study was conducted at a public sector medical school. A total of 316 students were selected through multistage stratified random sampling. A validated and structured questionnaire was used for data collection. Any student with a known psychiatric disorder was excluded from the study. Data, with a chi-square test, determined the difference in syndromes between pre-clinical and clinical years of students. A p-value of 0.05 was considered statistically significant in the analysis. We found that Medical Student Syndrome is more prevalent among clinical year students than pre-clinical students and this difference is statistically significant (Mean Rank: 23.6 2.42 vs. 29.8 1.98, p-value 0.005). Differences in clinical and pre-clinical year students related to different items of the anxiety scale, such as stress affects, physical and mental health (P-value-0.032), and disease interfering with daily activity (P-value-0.031). Clinical year students are more likely to self-medicate, seek psychiatric counseling, and be concerned about their health. There is need for a counseling system which will reduce the burden of this syndrome. The constitution of India does not recognize it in any form—not even home privacy which is recognized as the right to be secure against unreasonable search and seizure. In case [2011]8SCR725, the Supreme Court of India first recognized the “right to privacy as an integral part of right to life”. Since then, India has made four attempts to secure a right to privacy through legislation. Recently the revised Personal Data Protection Bill (2019) was introduced and is still under review. This article explores the perspective of India on the right to privacy from a historical and contemporary perspective, in two aspects: judicial and governmental. In doing so, more than 39 judicial judgments on the right to privacy and four major draft enactments are analyzed. People need to commit to lifelong learning in the workplace in order to cope with changing professional requirements. However, corporate training in China currently suffers from a low return on investment, unsatisfactory training outcomes, limited duration and poor coverage. To improve this, the purpose of this study is to investigate the implementation of self-directed learning (SDL) in the Chinese workplace, following an interpretivist research paradigm with qualitative methods, including interviews of company managers and staff. A Chinese company was used as the research subject and the article’s three main points can assist similar companies make decisions on SDL. The three central contributions of the article are showing how to develop an SDL system in the workplace from the perspective of an organization; showing an elemental model of SDL in the workplace from the perspective of learning theory; and discussing an operational model of SDL program development in the workplace from the perspective of training managers. SDL should consider educational, psychological and sociological perspectives, but this article lacks a sociological perspective, leaving space for future research. Although “diasporic identity” is mentioned often in diaspora studies, it is crucial when investigating it to consider relevant political, social, cultural and economic contexts. This article investigates, compares and analyzes the similarities and differences in place-making and ethnic identity construction by the Vietnamese diaspora’s second and third generations, over different periods of residence, in northeast Thailand. Participant observation, in-depth interviews and desk research methodologies were utilized in this research. The findings reveal that second and third generations of the Vietnamese diaspora underwent dissimilar processes when constructing their hybrid ethnicities (as Vietnamese Thai) due to differences in their migration experiences and levels of social embeddedness in their home and host countries, and because of changes in the geopolitical context in the last 70 years. The differences in identity construction between the two generations reflects their journey from migrant group to diaspora community, their cultural continuity and fragmentation, and their ongoing negotiations to culturally adapt within the host country, and at the same time, maintain attachments with their home country. The study is cross-sectional with a consecutive sampling technique used to select 211 workers. A structured and validated questionnaire was filled out by participants, with questions on personal characteristics and knowledge and practices. Data was compiled and analyzed using SPSS and logistic regressions were used to determine the association of risk factors with knowledge and practice levels. A majority were found to have inappropriate knowledge (71%) and unsafe practices (82%). After adjustment of the covariate in multivariate analysis, the variables of female gender, illiterate, and work experience of 1-10 years, were significantly associated with inappropriate knowledge and unsafe practices towards HBV and HIV.
