To address this issue, we present in this work a middleware for multi-client and multi-server mobile applications. We assume that the middleware at the server side has no resource restrictions, whereas at the client side it is light and does not incur much overhead to the applications, since the mobile device has several limitations. Offering a transparent communication API and allowing applications to divide their work amongst server and client sides, the proposed middleware becomes a viable alternative for development of distributed and mobile applications. This is in contrast with conventional MIMO systems, which typically assume multiple independent antenna elements at the transmitters and receivers. This paper focuses on an arrayed-MIMO communication system operating over a frequency-selective fading channel and employs MC-CDMA as the modulation scheme. However, in a departure from conventional MC-CDMA systems, cyclic prefixes or guard intervals are not used for the MC-CDMA system employed here so that valuable bandwidth is not wasted on cyclic prefixes or guard intervals. The feasibility of the proposed system is supported by simulation results.","PeriodicalId":403213,"journal":{"name":"2007 2nd International Symposium on Wireless Pervasive Computing","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124973167","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We use the design of experiments software named Design-Ease to establish the mathematical model for analyzing the set of simulation results from ns2. A variety of important parameters for network performance including routing protocol, node density, node speed, traffic load and pause time are considered to capture the vital factors and interactions for network performance by measuring the packet delivery ratio, average delay, discovery time and recovery time in which latter two are the crucial metrics for ad hoc self-organising performance measurement. With the simulation and analysis results, we conclude the key factors and interactions which influence the specific network performance and suggest which aspects the designers should focus on for improving the given network performance","PeriodicalId":403213,"journal":{"name":"2007 2nd International Symposium on Wireless Pervasive Computing","volume":"115 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122041003","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As known, maximum ratio transmission can maximize the received SNR under sum power constraint (SPC) (T. Lo, 1999). Multi user downlink beamforming problem with per-antenna power constraint (PAPC) is considered in papers ((F. Boccardi and H. Huang, 2006), (Wei Yu and Tian Lan, 2006)). In this paper, a general power constraint named user's power constraint (UPC) is placed on each antenna in distributed antenna system, which limits antenna practical power for desired user not higher than the constraint. The optimum transmit weight designing problem is investigated under both sum power constraint (SPC) and user's power constraint (UPC) in DAS. The weight designing problem under SPC and UPC is formulated as a nonlinear optimization problem, and we find the optimum weight vector have the same phase as MRT. After that, we transform the primal problem to a convex optimisation problem, and numerical method can be used to get the optimal solution. Furthermore, an algorithm named gradient-MRT is proposed to find the optimal solution","PeriodicalId":403213,"journal":{"name":"2007 2nd International Symposium on Wireless Pervasive Computing","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116553370","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We present a new architecture for supporting rate compatible array LDPC codes that uses an offset-based min-sum decoding algorithm instead of the BCJR. The proposed architecture utilizes the value-reuse properties of min-sum and block-serial scheduling of computations, along with TDMP. This novel architecture has the following features: removal of memory needed to store the sum of the variable node messages and the channel values, removal of memory needed to store the variable node messages, 40%-72% savings in storage of extrinsic messages depending on rate of the codes, reduction of routers by 50%, and increase of throughput up to 2times. Implementations on our test-bed FPGA achieve decoded throughputs up to 1.36 Gbps and 2.27 Gbps for each iteration for (5,k) and (3,k) array LDPC codes, respectively. ASIC implementation achieve decoded throughputs up to 5.9 Gbps for each iteration for (5,k) array LDPC codes.","PeriodicalId":403213,"journal":{"name":"2007 2nd International Symposium on Wireless Pervasive Computing","volume":"86 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134299812","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The network is divided in several regions. The algorithms ensure (i) the selection of a common data aggregator sensor within each region, in charge of the collection of local data, and (ii) the selection of a unique super-aggregator sensor, in charge of the collection of global data, among all the aggregators. Both selections are achieved by implementing the Omega failure detector, which provides a self-organizing and fault-tolerant leader election service. We also introduce a battery depletion threshold to provide wireless sensor network QoS.","PeriodicalId":403213,"journal":{"name":"2007 2nd International Symposium on Wireless Pervasive Computing","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130272765","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a consequence, the need for location-management middleware is widely recognized and actively researched. Location management is frequently offered to the application through an API where the location is given in the form of coordinates. It is the opinion of the authors that a localization API should offer localized data (e.g. direction to the nearest pharmacy) directly through a transparent and integrated API. Our proposed middleware for location and context management is built on top of Mobispace. Mobispace is a distributed tuplespace made for J2me units where replication between local replicas takes place with a central server (over GPRS) or with other mobile units (using Bluetooth). Since a Bluetooth connection indicates physical proximity to another node, a set of stationary nodes may distribute locality information over Bluetooth connections, and this information may be retrieved through the ordinary tuplespace API","PeriodicalId":403213,"journal":{"name":"2007 2nd International Symposium on Wireless Pervasive Computing","volume":"136 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133751330","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
