Edizioni, especializada en cómics. El taller se llevó a cabo dentro del marco de la asignatura de Traducción Directa Español-Italiano del último año del Grado de Mediación Lingüística Intercultural de la Universidad de Bolonia, siendo su principal finalidad el desarrollo de la competencia traductora entendida como proceso dinámico de tipo cognitivo, social, comunicativo e intercultural. Al comienzo de este artículo se verán el enfoque metodológico y la organización del taller en sus distintas fases; a continuación observaremos los principales desafíos relacionados con la traducción del cómic y, en concreto, con este ejemplo de escritura polifónica y estilo polifacético. A nivel traductológico, se analizarán los principales problemas de traducción en relación con el encargo, el público meta y la complejidad del iconotexto, caracterizado por la abundante presencia de culturemas visuales. Por último, se hará hincapié en el bagaje experiencial y en la creatividad de las aprendices, no solo en la resolución de problemas lingüístico-textuales, extralingüísticos y pragmáticos, a lo largo del proceso de trasvase, sino también en la promoción mediática del libro en entrevistas, blogs y eventos no presenciales en las redes sociales.","PeriodicalId":40318,"journal":{"name":"Estudios de Traduccion","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2021-06-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46793441","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Transgenres are discursive patterns that develop in recurring intercultural situations and are recognized and used by a community. Based on the reiteration of communicative purposes and individuals’ roles in translated situations, interactions are conventionalized to streamline cooperation between cultural and social groups, thereby engendering a distinctive set of taken-for-granted assumptions and meaning-making mechanisms and signs which are particular to a translated event. The paper will first argue how this concept takes a step beyond the existing proposals from cultural, social, and linguistic approaches, especially the third space, the models of norms and laws of translation, and universals and the language of translation (translationese), by focusing on the situatedness of textual, interactional, and cultural patterns and providing a means to model and measure the development of translation as a discursive practice, as such influenced by historical, cultural, social, cognitive, ideologic, and linguistic issues. Then existing applications of the concept and new possibilities will be identified and discussed. The results of existing studies show translations build a third space of intercultural discursive practices showing tensions with both source and target systems. The legal translator is at home in this third space, resulting from their own cultural practices, which are linked to translators’ specific function in a broader multicultural system.","PeriodicalId":40318,"journal":{"name":"Estudios de Traduccion","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2020-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41557979","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Por esta razón, en 1942 se creó, en el seno de la Sección de Política Cultural del Instituto Nacional del Libro Español, una Oficina para el Visado de Traducciones en la que colaboraban activamente los miembros del recién creado Cuerpo de Inspectores Técnicos de Traducción. De esta manera, la publicación de versiones españolas de obras extranjeras no solo requería la aprobación previa de su contenido y valor moral por parte de la Sección de Censura de Libros de la Delegación Nacional de Propaganda, sino también la valoración positiva de su calidad y pureza lingüísticas por parte de la Oficina para el Visado de Traducciones. En el presente trabajo, se propone una aproximación a ese nuevo mecanismo que pretendía erradicar toda influencia extranjera sobre el idioma español.","PeriodicalId":40318,"journal":{"name":"Estudios de Traduccion","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2020-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42539228","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Elewa","doi":"10.5209/estr.68334","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.5209/estr.68334","url":null,"abstract":"It is argued that legal language should be formal, precise and clear to avoid ambiguity and/or misunderstanding. As rights and duties are communicated through modals, clarity and precision in drafting and translating them is crucial. Otherwise, there is a possibility of conveying loose messages in the source text or different and/or inconsistent messages in the target text. However, the drafting of Arabic modal expressions does not follow clear guidelines, and their translation differs from one translator to another. This paper investigates how deontic modality of obligation and prohibition is used in The Leeds Annotated Parallel Corpus of Arabic-English Constitutions in comparison to The Leeds Monolingual Corpus of English Constitutions. More specifically, the paper presents a classification of these modal expressions and investigates the different lexical variants expressed in a Corpus of Arabic Constitutions. The paper uses corpus-based tools to analyse the different lexical forms used for deontic modality of obligation and prohibition in Arabic and how they are rendered into English. Results of such analysis are compared to a non-translated Corpus of English Constitutions to find out whether the deontic meaning of the modals is comparable to the set of deontic modals used in the constitutions originally drafted in English. The corpus-based analysis gave a detailed classification of a variety of modal expressions used in the Arabic Corpus. It also showed that the translation of deontic modals of obligation and prohibition from Arabic into English is influenced by the source text lexical variations; however, the corpus techniques employed in the study managed to capture some comparable modals in both corpora.","PeriodicalId":40318,"journal":{"name":"Estudios de Traduccion","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2020-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43644377","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
