License Plate Recognition (LPR) is one of the control schemes which can be used to ensure road safety using video sensors. Moreover, from installation point of view, it is cheaper than Radiofrequency Identification (RFID) system. Automated LPR is adopted to reduce human involvement which causes loss in accuracy and reliability in reading license plate. The extracted information from LPR can be used in various schemes, such as electronic payment system, traffic surveillance and extracting vehicle trajectory. In this paper, we are presenting an offline dynamic LPR system, which uses geometric properties of Bengali alphabets stored in alphabet template database to recognize license plates from video. The system comprises of three main components: 1) License Plate Locating (LPL), 2) Character Segmentation (CS), and 3) Geometric Character Recognition (GCR). In this regard, the image is converted into a binary image considering morphological operations and color modification. A new ratio-based detection algorithm has been proposed for the segmentation of license plate. Finally, the alphabet template database and the character extracted from detected license plate are correlated to recognize alphanumeric character which deduces the plate number. Thus, the plate number can be utilized for further action.","PeriodicalId":403005,"journal":{"name":"International Research Journal of Innovations in Engineering and Technology","volume":"104 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132261484","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thermal and electrical degradation properties in an Insulation paper has been inspected to improve reliability and to enable preventative maintenance technology in transformers. This paper deals with the experimental studies on the electrical and mechanical properties of aramid paper with different concentrations of polyester (0%, 30%, 50%, 60%, and 70%). The dielectric strength (kV/mm) of aramid/polyester was tested in several thermal conditions such as 25, 70, and 100°C, and the dielectric strength of aramid/polyester was tested after being exposed to thermal aging for 24 hours in high temperatures (150°C and 220°C). The electrical resistivity (ohm. cm) was carried out. Also, a tensile strength test was applied under different aged conditions to check the various properties of aramid/polyester samples. The results showed that the electrical and mechanical properties of the insulation paper modified by adding polyester. Maximum values of AC dielectric strength, electrical resistivity, and tensile strength were obtained from 60% of polyester content.","PeriodicalId":403005,"journal":{"name":"International Research Journal of Innovations in Engineering and Technology","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115999496","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Man’s quest to reduce human drudgery became exerting, and his wish that he could wake one day and get everything (including his sleep) done with the help of computers intriguing. This quest is as a result of the internet. In the world of e-commerce, since the formal launch of the internet in 1995, auctioneering became the first-child driven from the comfort of man via the use of computers connected together in a network (internet). Before the birth of e-shopping, dozens of eauction systems were developed and launched in 1995, including on sale (the first ever e-auction site), Auction Web, Esty, eBay, Yahoo, Amazon, etc. Auctioneering, derived from a Latin word augeo meaning \"I increase\" or \"I augment” is driving the world of e-commerce till date. The benefits of electronic auctioneering cannot be over emphasized. Compared with e-shopping, e-auction allows buyers to bargain price that suit their taste and desire- the reason it is widely patronized. In spite of its numerous benefits, e-auction is on a daily basis facing fraudulent activities- which the researchers see as a green snake in green grass. The paper x-rays the benefits of e-auction at a glance, and takes an explicit/concise look at the various eauction frauds with simplicity of styles to help participants of e-auction understand how these fraudulent activities are perpetrated at each stage of the auctioneering process by fraudsters, and proffer measures that will help auction participants avoid being scammed or victimized.","PeriodicalId":403005,"journal":{"name":"International Research Journal of Innovations in Engineering and Technology","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122127499","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This salinity sensor consists of four electronics units: the power, input (sensor), gain (amplifies the output signal), and output units. Each unit/block utilizes various low-power integrated circuits. The calibration equation of the salinity sensor was 1055.6exp -1.062 ml/mg/volt (correlation coefficient r = 0.9897). The performance and the coefficient of efficiency of the constructed sensor were compared with a standard sensor, showing the Mean Bias Error (MBE), Root Mean Square Error, and Standard Deviation of -0.5535, 1.3825, and 3.4839 ml/mg, the error margins were relatively small, indicating an excellent performance by the sensor. However, the negative MBE suggests a slight underestimation of the standard. Conclusively, the sensor is efficient in hydro-meteorological studies, capable of monitoring solution conductivity and measuring salinity (and total dissolved salt) in the ocean or brackish water.","PeriodicalId":403005,"journal":{"name":"International Research Journal of Innovations in Engineering and Technology","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128594660","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The experiments have done include uniaxial compression test, indirect tensile test, ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV) test, saturation porosity for porosity and direct shear test. Engineering properties of brittleness, Schmidt’s rebound number, fracture index and drillability index are calculated from empirical equations based on the tensile strength and uniaxial compressive strength available in published literature. The various moduli are also calculated from equations based on the P-wave and Swave velocities from UPV test. The average values of the investigated physical properties include bulk density (2199kg/m 3 ), porosity (8.47%). The average investigated mechanical properties values include uniaxial compressive strength (16.41MPa), tensile strength (1.61MPa), Elastic modulus(31.62GPa), cohesion(133.33kPa) and friction angle (410). The P-wave and S-wave velocities are 4797m/s and 2288m/s respectively. The results presented in this work highlight the influence of rock porosity as an inherent structural feature that affects intact rock properties. The results are discussed with a focus on the variation of properties with porosity, with the conclusion that empirical relationships developed for porous rock should include porosity as a parameter which contributes to variations in rock properties. This paper presents the first published geomechanical data of coral limestone from the reef coral rock formation making up Kenya’s coastline.","PeriodicalId":403005,"journal":{"name":"International Research Journal of Innovations in Engineering and Technology","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127407816","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A grim assessment of sectoral quality assurance was adopted purposely to give a clear understanding of the status of sectors in the Sierra Leone’ economy as a result of the negative impact of the Covid-19 scourge that ravage the all regions in the country. The study reveals that, it was during the first quarter in 2020 when Sierra Leone recorded its first Covid-19 pandemic case as the most recent in a series of natural and artificial disasters Sierra Leone has faced taking cognizance the 11 years civil war that spanned from 1991 to 2002, cholera in 2012, Ebola in 2014, flooding and a mudslide in 2017. Since the inception of the virus to June, 2021, 5,887 confirmed cases and 109 death cases were recorded in the country. The emergence of the Covid-19 on the economy in Sierra Leone has incubated a systemic/country risk effect creating quality Assurance challenges in economic sectors with huge tendency to reverse gains especially in businesses - both in the private and public sector. Worthy to note also from the study was that despite the negative ramification of Covid-19 to all economic sectors has created an unfriendly environment in the economic sectors with quality assurance challenges, it gives rise to digitization in some facets of life especially the educational and commerce sector adopted the Learning Method System (LMS)- zoom Cloud e-learning platform and Podcasting that stimulate unlocking the potentials of businesses, academic staff, administrative staff and students.","PeriodicalId":403005,"journal":{"name":"International Research Journal of Innovations in Engineering and Technology","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130502562","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Samples of lateritic soil were collected at varying depth from 0.5m into1.0m at a borrow pit along Ado Ikere road). The samples were air dried. Varying proportions of cement and glass power were used to prepare the mixture and these were expressed as percentage of the dry weight of soil sample. The results of these experiments showed that adding these additives resulted in a considerable reduction in the proportion of fine passing the various sieves in the grain size distribution study. These addictive substances were found in soil samples that were graded and classified properly. Furthermore, when these additives were used on soil samples, the results showed that the specific gravities were larger than in natural soil. The use of these chemicals resulted in lower C.B.R values in the samples than in the natural sample, according to the tests. Maximum dry density (MDD) decreased as the optimum moisture content was reduced, as evidenced by the compaction characteristic (OMC). The recommended value for cement soil stabilization with soil classification sand/gravel is B at 6%. Analysis of the additive showed Ca, Mg, Na and K. values which can be used as partial replacement materials in cement. The use of glass powder as a partial replacement for cement in soil stabilization was found to be ineffective in all geotechnical tests.","PeriodicalId":403005,"journal":{"name":"International Research Journal of Innovations in Engineering and Technology","volume":"92 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123176193","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The tomatoes of the different substrates have a high water content (94.83- 96.37%). Regarding the technological properties, the results recorded are for saccharin index (1.15%), saccharin coefficient (121.5%) and acidity coefficient (8.29%). The sensory study of the tomatoes reveals that the tasters perceived sensory differences between the tomatoes. Their overall perception of the tomatoes confirms their good acceptability. Also taste, colour, shape and consistency are important criteria of fresh tomatoes. At the end of this study, it was found that the C100 substrate presented the best physicomorphological parameters. We all know that these concepts are prevalent in Nigeria as a developing country. It is certain that Nigeria is an independent country, but it does not possessed the trappings of an independent country since the super structures that formed the society and State are controlled from outside the shores of Nigeria. Literally, Nigeria is independent but in practical terms, Nigeria is dependent on foreign influences of our colonial masters who tele-guide everything Nigeria does politically, economically, socially and culturally. Politically, Nigeria adopted British style of governance and currently American style. Economically, Nigeria adopted capitalism which is controlled by foreigners and has contributed in crippling Nigerian economy, socially and culturally. Nigerians copy foreign ways and values and our own ways and values are pushed to the background and suffer inferiority complex to the foreign ways and values. Nigeria falls back to the western Nations for loans and grants which have made us debtor and dependent nation to the west. One can go on and on without end. This paper therefore, attempt to look at the case of Nigeria as it relates to the concepts of underdevelopment and dependency. The paper adopted the Historical/ Descriptive and Prescriptive approaches in the discussion. The aim of the research was to assess the impact of credit on agricultural production with specific objectives to determine its effect on farm size, labour employment and quantity of inputs as well as output among small-scale farmers in Kori Chiefdom Moyamba District and to determine any significant difference, if any between borrowers and nonborrowers. Structured questionnaires were administered to respondents. Seven respondents were targeted from each of the fifteen (15) villages, which give a sample size of one hundred and five (105) respondents from the chiefdom. The sample consisted of age (youth and elderly), sex (male and female) and rice farmers using the stratified random sampling technique, and the data obtained were summarized into tables, pie and bar charts with percentages and frequency. Secondary data were obtained from both published and unpublished literatures. Results showed a significant difference between borrowers and non-borrowers in farm size, farm output, income status and quantity of all inputs used (except family labour, fertilizer, hoes/cutlasses and animal traction). According to the research, farmers in rural areas had difficult access to agricultural credit and loans. In the research area, only 38 out of 105 farmers (36%) received microcredit for farming, compared to the majority (64%) who did not. Based on the analysis' results, borrowers had farms that were significantly larger than those of non-borrowers; the majority of them (86.6%) had between 6 and 10 acres, while just 13.40% had between 1 and 5 acres. Neither borrowers nor non-borrowers had farms with a size between 11 and 16 acres and above (0%), while the majority of non-borrowers (91.40%) had farms with a size between 1 and 5 acres, 5.60% had farms with a size between 6 and 10. This suggests that the rise in farm size that borrowers experience is more significant when financing to small-scale farmers. The study shows therefore that, access to microcredit over a long period of time impacts positively on agricultural production. Government and the organized private sector should provide credit regularly and timely to farmers.","PeriodicalId":403005,"journal":{"name":"International Research Journal of Innovations in Engineering and Technology","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126565840","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
