As a result, cyber security is best understood as a process designed to keep cyberspace safe from potentially known and unknown threats. Therefore, cyber security awareness is vital as it plays an important role in preventing these cyber attacks due to the increasing use of information and communication technologies (ICT) as well as e-learning platforms in universities. Therefore, the paper assesses the key factors influencing cyber security awareness in the fight against cybercrime in the context of Kenyan public universities. A survey tested academic staff from 31 public universities for the variable cyber security awareness, the variable cyber security self-perception, and the factors influencing cyber security awareness. The results show that a significant number of respondents do not have adequate cyber security training. The paper also highlights that most public universities do not have a mandated cyber security policy, as well as adequate infrastructure for ICT cyber security practices.","PeriodicalId":403005,"journal":{"name":"International Research Journal of Innovations in Engineering and Technology","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130325052","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main aim of this study is to develop a seismic fragility curves showing the probability of exceeding a damage limit state for a given structure type subjected to a seismic excitation. For the purpose of this study, three distinct buildings namely, seven-story, eleven-story and sixteen-story, with typical floor plan were proposed as the case study. Each building cases are explicitly modeled as a bare frame and HCB infilled model with varying percentage of infill configurations. All building models under the case study were analyzed using Seismo-Struct software to assess seismic vulnerabilities. Non-linear dynamic time history and pushover analysis were employed to generate fragility curves. 30 generated artificial accelerograms were employed in the nonlinear dynamic time history analysis. Accordingly, for developing a fragility curve, nonlinear dynamic analyses of 30 building models for each case are conducted and the maximum roof displacement (ID) for each ground motion is recorded. Results of the study showed that bare frame has a highest probability of failure and building models with a larger percentage of infill configurations have lesser failure probability than slightly infilled building models. Basically these infills have significant contribution in arresting large lateral deflections and results in lower and most tolerable story displacements under excited earthquake motion and eventually reducing the structure’s probability of failure at life safety and collapse prevention limit states","PeriodicalId":403005,"journal":{"name":"International Research Journal of Innovations in Engineering and Technology","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116296267","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most research studied the punching shear stress, but none of them studied the distribution of punching shear stress, which was assumed to be linear in different codes. Verification models have been used to simulate existing experimental data. Two factors were taken into consideration for their influence on the punching shear strength of the concrete: the slab aspect ratio, column aspect ratio, and other factors are constant. Therefore, twenty-one models of different slab and column dimensions were investigated, and a comparison between the results obtained by the finite element analysis and the numerical results was made. Also, a comparison between shear stresses computed using two different methods in the Egyptian code, the simplified method, and the detailed method, and compare them with the Ansys models.","PeriodicalId":403005,"journal":{"name":"International Research Journal of Innovations in Engineering and Technology","volume":"71 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126344943","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is a new understood in which brings computational resources proximity to edge node network which permits the computation of tasks which triggers the program carry out as a reply for assigned events. The purpose of this research is to investigate diverse methods relevant to scheduling tasks in serverless edge computing. Consequently, these methods are classified depending on their objective functions, precisely, reducing execution cost, low latency, reducing of makespan, scalability, offloading, and intelligent scheduling. The trade-off and dependency among the goals play a critical role in make decision to determine the scheduling policy efficiently. These trade-off and dependency may be led to waste of resources. This issue can be resolved by integrating among the above objectives. Serverless edge computing is predicted to have a substantial influence on the process of the scheduling. Using serverless edge computing, we can run the fine-grained requests on serverless platform by scheduler within coordination item. This allows in expanding size of the resource's utilization due to the optimal use of the scheduling process. An extension of the constrained time limit of objectives by cloud providers will permit the execution of the entire tasks, and get ridding of the rescheduling issue using a serverless edge computing mechanism.","PeriodicalId":403005,"journal":{"name":"International Research Journal of Innovations in Engineering and Technology","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131362003","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Vortex generators make it possible to mix hot and cold fluids to be more optimal than not using them. Therefore, the current study aims to investigate the thermal-hydraulic of each case of a delta-winglet type vortex generator in a circular channel using numerical simulations. This modelling is carried out by varying the angle of the vortex generator type delta-winglet, namely, 90°, 105°, and 120°, which are arranged in a line, and the angle of attack in all cases is 30°. The Reynolds number is set from 4,000 to 12,000 with an interval of 2,000 and using the k-ω turbulent SST model. The working fluid used in this study is water. This fluid was chosen because it has better thermal conductivity than air, even though it has a higher viscosity and results in increased flow resistance. This study found that the highest heat transfer was a deltawinglet vortex generator at 90°, 105°, and 120°. But the delta-winglet, which has the highest heat transfer, will impact the increased flow resistance. Furthermore, the best thermal-hydraulic results were achieved in the case of the delta-winglet vortex generator at an angle of 120° of 2.47.","PeriodicalId":403005,"journal":{"name":"International Research Journal of Innovations in Engineering and Technology","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130454257","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
