{"title":"Formanty kategorialne – ich miejsce w (semantycznej i formalnej) strukturze języka","authors":"Zuzanna Topolińska","doi":"10.11649/SM.1693","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.11649/SM.1693","url":null,"abstract":"Category formants – their place in (semantic and formal) language structure The author argues that the so-called category some of the grammaticalized segments of the corresponding semantic fields that are especially important for successful linguistic communication. She presents semantic categorical paradigms in Polish and in Macedonian, along with their formal correlates, i.e., categorical markers. She states that in the course of time, the old postpositional bound markers, suffixes and infixes are often eliminated, while the prepositional markers (prefixes, prepositions, verbal particles…) multiply. The Macedonian situation demonstrates that this type of evolution is accelerated in multilingual environment. Formanty kategorialne – ich miejsce w (semantycznej i formalnej) strukturze języka Autorka dowodzi, że tzw. formanty kategorialne należą do tych gramatycznych segmentów pól semantycznych, które są szczególnie ważne dla pomyślnej komunikacji językowej. Przedstawia semantyczne paradygmaty kategorii w języku polskim i macedońskim oraz ich formalne, tj. kategorialne, wskaźniki. Stwierdza, że z biegiem czasu stare, postpozycyjne, związane wskaźniki, sufiksy, infiksy, partykuły werbalne są często eliminowane, a wskaźniki przyimkowe (przedrostki, przyimki, cząstki słowne…) multiplikowane. {"title":"The sacral function of language, literature and the Bible in the context of Borislav Pekić’s novel \"The Time of Miracles\"","authors":"K. Kulavkova","doi":"10.11649/SM.1592","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.11649/SM.1592","url":null,"abstract":"The sacral function of language, literature and the Bible in the context of Borislav Pekić’s novel The Time of Miracles This essay promotes the thesis about mythogenesis as a form of cosmogenesis. It also addresses the sacral function of language in literature and in the Bible. It follows an approach according to which Biblical myths are constantly re-created (Lk. 11; Jn. 9) and their archetypal schemata – actualized. Specifically, the paper demonstrates that through the actualization of the mythical narratives from the Bible, the universal archetype of the Miracle (mystery, secrecy) is essentially actualized. This interpretation is made on the basis of two illuminative fragments from the novel The Time of Miracles (1965) by the contemporary Serbian writer Borislav Pekić (1930–1992).Borislav Pekić reads the coded language of the mytho-biblical mysterious vision of reality with meticulous, historical, social, political, and psychological attention, and yet, instead of submitting it to a radical parody of hyper-realistic qualities, he demythologizes them only to re-mythologize the most sensitive sacral places in the mythical-biblical matrix: the miracles of Jesus. Pekić creates a mythopoetic chronotope of a “time of miracles and deaths”. In contrast to the usual categories – mythical time, historical time, time of dreams, he introduces the category of “time of miracles” or, in other words, “miraculous time”. “Time” itself, understood as a replica of the Being, initiates the question of miracle creation as a radical type of mythogenesis. Connecting Christian miracles with death, Pekić actualizes the archetypical vision of the resurrection. He knows that the modern world, whose humanism is put at stake, needs a spiritual renaissance (resurrection). Only upon the foundations of the renewed spirituality can a more humane civilization be established.Pekić’s novel, sensitive to the antinomies of reality and of the human psyche, reaffirms the principle of the fictional, regardless of whether it has been based on biblical narratives. Contrary to the stereotypical Christian perspective of the miracle, Pekić creates an individual performance of the miracle, both sceptical and emphatic, both biblical and imaginary. Pekić demystifies the Christian story through the prism of pre-Christian consciousness, subtly pointing to the need of renewal of free, non-canonical thought. This context implies the affirmation of the vitality of the multifocal and carnivalized pagan matrix, without rejecting the importance of the Christian one. Gagro","doi":"10.11649/sm.1663","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.11649/sm.1663","url":null,"abstract":"Theatre workshop as a foreign language teaching tool: advantages of “trivial literature” in the dramatic-theatrical approach The aim of this paper is to demonstrate the advantages of dramatic-theatrical approach to foreign language teaching as exemplified by the use of popular culture, namely an adapted television format (soap opera). In order to achieve this aim, the paper presents the characteristics of the genre that render it useful in foreign language education. The genre’s usability in practical work is exemplified by two successfully implemented theatre workshops. The first one was organized in the Croaticum Centre for Croatian as a Second Language at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Studies, University of Zagreb, in 2006, for students of Croatian as a foreign language. The second workshop was held in 2010 at the Institute of Western and Southern Slavic Studies at the University of Warsaw for students of Bulgarian as a foreign language. Both workshops achieved excellent results in raising language competencies of foreign language speakers. Considering the continued presence of the mentioned genre in popular culture, its use in teaching does not lose its relevance. Warsztat teatralny w nauczaniu języka obcego: zalety literatury popularnej w podejściu dramatyczno-teatralnym Celem artykułu jest wykazanie zalet dramatyczno-teatralnego podejścia do nauki języków obcych na przykładzie kultury popularnej, czyli adaptowanej formy telewizyjnej – telenoweli. Aby osiągnąć ten cel, przedstawiono cechy gatunku przydatne w nauce języków obcych. Przykładami użyteczności podejścia w praktycznej pracy są dwa pomyślnie zrealizowane warsztaty teatralne. Pierwszy z nich został zorganizowany w Centrum języka chorwackiego jako obcego „Croaticum” na Wydziale Nauk Humanistycznych i Społecznych w Zagrzebiu w 2006 roku dla studentów języka chorwackiego jako obcego, a drugi w Instytucie Slawistyki Zachodniej i Południowej Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego dla studentów języka bułgarskiego jako obcego w 2010 roku. Oba warsztaty osiągnęły doskonałe wyniki w podnoszeniu kompetencji językowych osób posługujących się językami obcymi.
