Similarly, gravel samples from three extraction sites of Paundi river were collected. Lab test for physical properties of sand and mechanical properties ofgravel were conducted on that sample to evaluate their quality for use in construction works. Lab testing were done as per IS 2386: 1963.After conducting the lab test of physical properties of aggregate, it is concluded that sand samples from Marsyangdi and Paundi river meet the standard value of specific gravity (>2.6), water absorption (<5%) and bulk density (1450–2082 kg/m3). Sieve analysis results showthat samples from Marsyangi river are poorly graded (Cu<4) whereas samples from Paundi river are well graded (Cu>4). Depending mainly on grading zone, Marsyangdi river sand lies in Zone II and III and can be used for concreting, plastering, rendering and screeding works. Similarly, Paundi river sand lies in Zone II and can be used in concreting works. On the basis of silt and clay content, Marsyangdi river sand samples are within the standard limit (5%) and Paundi river sand samples does not comply with the standard limit (5%) for use in construction. From result and analysis of Paundi river gravel samples, it is seen that gravelsamples lies in grading III and IV of Standard Specifications “For Road and Bridge Works-2073”. The particle size of gravel becomes finer as we move from upstream to downstream. Aggregate Impact Value (AIV) of all samples meet the criteria (<40%) of subbase material of class I and class II road construction works as specified by DoR. AIV decreases from upstream to downstream which means gravel quality in terms of strength increases as it move downstream. Comparing with standard specification of DoR, all samples have California Bearing Ratio (CBR) value greater than 30% which means it can withstand heavy loadswithout deformation.Keywords: Gravel Samples, Lab Test, Aggregate Impact Value, California Bearing Ratio How to cite this article:Subedi B, Banstola R, Baral NP, et al. Apart from that, it also helps to provide performance assessment of structures duringthe earthquake. The 2072 Gorkha Earthquake destroyed most of the buildings with high importance (schools, hospitals, monuments,etc.) and was the reason for the decrease in strength of most of the standing ones. This weakened existing buildings need to be retrofitted in order to withstand future earthquake of similar or greater magnitude. For evaluation, pushover analysis via ETABS is used to obtain the capacity demand curve, which provide the performance levels of structures following the guidelines of FEMA356 and ATC 40.Also, seismic evaluation will help determine the most vulnerable and weak components and determine the deficiencies of a building during earthquake. This evaluation aims to improve the seismic performance and correct the deficiencies by increasing the strength capacity andstiffness and improving the connection joints.Keywords: Pushover Analysis, Plastic Hinge Formation, Capacity Demand Curve, Fema 356 How to cite this article:Das BC, Adhikari S, Gupta DK. This study finds that factors replace with the rapid expansion of residential areas, increasing population, steeper slopes, changing lifestyles, natural hazards, technical and management leakage are major contributors to the growing water shortages in the area, leading to a situation of water instability. However, the study also identifies that factor such as precipitation, geology, soil types, potential water sources in the area offer opportunities for stabilizing the water supply in Dharan Sub-metropolitan. This study highlights the combined effect of these various active factors that led to an increase in per capita demand of water from 71 to 100 lpcd. This increasing water demand and shrinking of surface water led to Interrupted Water pumping and overexploitation. Additionally, the study indicates that due to high level of Non-Revenue Water (NRW) up-to 40%, certain parts of the city’s residents are facing major difficulties in accessing clean drinking water. The study also finds that positive changes in precipitation, supportive soil types and geology in the city of Dharan increases the potential for water recharge and harvesting. In order to achieve a sustainable and climate-resilient water supply, the study recommends implementing Water management tools likewise protective measures for critical water zones, stabilizing stream banks and gullies for surface water source improvement, artificial recharge of the city through Climate Adaptive Recharge Pits (CARP) and slope interception methods, as well as community-based water harvesting for groundwater source improvement. Furthermore, the study suggests establishing R&D unit involving national and local level experts and stakeholders for better planning and management.","PeriodicalId":402805,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Advanced Research in Civil and Environmental Engineering","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126984785","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We use condensation and temperature difference of the ground. The water vapour in the atmosphere is used to convert water vapour in liquid form. These all process is done with the help of various components such as air funnel, VAWT, the duct (pipe), the tube to pump water outside and most important the metal casing which is present 8 ft below the soil. This metal casing actually creates a tem-perature difference. After the removal of water vapour from the air, the air becomes dry, this dry is then used to separate argon, nitrogen, oxygen and carbon dioxide. The energy generated with the help of HAWT and solar panels can be used to recharge our home appliances and to separate these gases from air.","PeriodicalId":402805,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Advanced Research in Civil and Environmental Engineering","volume":"97 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124164547","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The model components were calibrated and validated using monthly river flow and hydraulic head data for the 1979-2017 period. Our results demonstrate that the average annual groundwater discharge is 2.43 m3/s. Seasonally, the average groundwater discharge is 2.73 m3/s during Summer and is 2.13 m3/s during winter. We observe that the maximum (6.9 m3/s) and minimum (0.036 m3/s) rates occurred in September-October and March-April, respectively. We also find that the average runoff fraction (i.e., runoff/ precipitation) varied from 0.34 to 0.72, and the ET component varied from 0.24 to 0.547 of the total precipitation within the SWAT model. The yearly fluctuation in TWS varied from ± 9.9% to ± 58% of the total precipitation. The Aquifer thickness varies from 16m to 57 m, and the specific yield in the Sunsari district varied from 0.12 lps to 890 lps. In the southern part, we see the water level declines from 2-4 m from July to August, where the bottom water slowly declines in September. The recharge of 1380 l/sec is observed in the Sapta Koshi area in the Bhabar zone. There is substantial underflow from hills simultaneously, resulting in the total recharge in the Sunsari district of 1.98 MCM/yr. At the same time, the total discharge, including surface, sub-surface, and spring water discharge, is nearly 29.2 MCM/yr. This study shows that the Sunsari district’s water resources have many groundwater and surface water, properly managed for future use.","PeriodicalId":402805,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Advanced Research in Civil and Environmental Engineering","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121824887","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The overall objective of the research is to assess the strength of concrete in existing structures using Nondestructive Tests at Kachankawal Rural Municipality, Jhapa District of Nepal.Rebound hammer test and ultrasonic pulse velocity tests were used for determining the compressive strength of concrete. The existing Reinforced Concrete Cement culverts were used for 9 existing structures. Average rebound number were taken and calculated from each sample. From the average rebound number were taken to determine the grade of concrete along with corresponding compressive strength. Similarly, the Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity tests were done on same existing structures and path length and time were noted for assessing the corresponding compressive strength and the quality of concrete. Triangulation among rebound hammer test, ultrasonic pulse velocity test and proposed initial grading were validated using chi square test. Relation between compressive strength with rebound hammer and ultrasonic pulse velocity were analyzed using linear regression model. Chi square confirms variation in compressive strength between calculated compressive strength and standard compressive strength. The relation of compressive strength (y) at R² = 1 with rebound number (x) and ultrasonic pulse velocity (x) could be expressed as y = 0.9306x - 2.7233 and y = 2.904 x + 10.119 respectively. The study is a guiding tool for concern authority and professionals to make effective decision regarding further structural development and budget allocation of the existing structures.","PeriodicalId":402805,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Advanced Research in Civil and Environmental Engineering","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134294602","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
