Three words in this dialect, b‘š, b‘šwn’, and mb‘šwn’, which are variant derivations of b’š, have puzzled scholars for more than a century. In addition to another set of ‘incorrectly spelled’ words, these were considered doubtful in the first dictionary, grammar, and text editions, but they turned out to have sound explanations and etymological origins.","PeriodicalId":40269,"journal":{"name":"Collectanea Christiana Orientalia","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2021-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42468856","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nyss., Steph. I, ed. O Lendle, 1990, 97,4 - 105,21), una de sus más brillantes representaciones literarias. La hagiografía del santo se desarrolla siguiendo las normas del discurso imperial, teorizado en los dos tratados “Sobre los géneros epidícticos” atribuidos a Menandro el Rétor, en los cuales se hace hincapié en los τόποι ἐγκωμιαστικοί respecto al panegírico del personaje alabado. En la primera traducción al castellano, que presentamos a continuación, se pone un particular énfasis en esta innovación: el obispo de Nisa consigue transformar el relato neotestamentario en un discurso de fuertes matices propagandísticos, en el cual los aspectos más corrientes del personaje (patria, educación, actos) se convierten en virtudes y gestas de un arquetipo cristiano a seguir.","PeriodicalId":40269,"journal":{"name":"Collectanea Christiana Orientalia","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2021-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42537133","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

En este artículo se aborda el estudio de una figura literaria que hasta ahora era prácticamente desconocida en el panorama de la literatura árabe en general, e incluso en las monografías dedicadas a los autores cristianos. Se trata del poeta sirio iraquí Zabīnā Ibn Isḥāq al-Naṣrānī, que vivió en la época de mayor esplendor del Califato Abasí. Para ello se recopilan todas las noticias que nos han llegado sobre su persona, deshaciéndose de camino una grave confusión que arranca ya en los autores árabes y que lo presenta como una poetisa cristiana de al-Ándalus. Después se edita, traduce y comenta el breve Diván poético que se ha conservado de su obra literaria, la cual no está exenta de valor, pues según argumenta un crítico literario del siglo XI, algunos de sus versos pudieron servir de inspiración al gran poeta neoclásico al-Mutanabbī.","PeriodicalId":40269,"journal":{"name":"Collectanea Christiana Orientalia","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2019-07-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47322860","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An intrinsic aspect of the exchange between Jews and Christians refers to attitudes towards pagan communities in their shared environment as a common discourse pertaining to a symbolic construction of the “Other”. More specifically, a persisting topos was the implication of “pagan” communities and their respective religious specialists in illicit magical practices including necromancy. In the following, a discussion of testimonies regarding variants of necromantic practices in ancient, rabbinic and Christian sources will explore the dissemination and special characteristics of the different necromantic accounts in Late Antiquity and contextualise this peculiar practice of a divinatory “talking head” as evidenced in contemporary Jewish and Christian traditions.","PeriodicalId":40269,"journal":{"name":"Collectanea Christiana Orientalia","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2019-07-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46898377","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
