The paper helped to identify the trends and development in the research area in the context of the Indian hospitality and tourism sector. The study selected 1821 research papers of Indian origin from the Scopus database published in 22 years (2000-2021). The selected publications were analysed using different bibliometric methods of analysis using biblioshiny and VOS viewer within the scope of several parameters. The entire period was divided into three distinct timeframes to study the research trends during that time frame. The maximum number of articles have been published in recent years, i.e., 2020, while the minimum number of article publications was observed in 2001. 1241 citations were received in 2019 and received only 110 citations were seen in 2005. \"Worldwide Hospitality and Tourism Themes\" and \"International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management\" have been reported to be the most productive journals. At the same time, 'Singh S.' is the most effective author with a maximum number of articles, while 'Jauhari V' has the most citations for the work. Sustainability and Conservation are the themes of common interest irrespective of timeframe, while the role of social media, covid 19, are recent trending topics for researchers. Despite contributing significantly to the hospitality and tourism literature in the Indian context, the study has a few limitations. The present study did not include publications other than articles like conference proceedings, book chapters, dissertations, etc. Selection of tools used and the keywords chosen for the study also limit the outcome. The findings of the analysis are helpful in better understanding the direction of research themes in the hotel and tourism sector. Evaluation of prominent authors and their work helps to focus on the trending themes in the sector among researchers. Additionally, it aids future researchers in determining the trends in the hospitality and tourism sector. To the best of the author’s knowledge, the sample used for this study was the most extensive group of publications published in India’s hospitality and tourism sector. By outlining the current research orientations and trends in hospitality and tourism, this study significantly contributes to the existing literature.","PeriodicalId":402404,"journal":{"name":"Atna Journal of Tourism Studies","volume":"2012 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114631313","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Simple checklist approach along with Likert scale techniques was employed as a response format to collect primary data from the sample of 300 tourists. Simple statistical techniques were used to analyse the so-collected data. This study indicate that the sample tourists were more satisfied with the scenic beauty of the places, transportation facilities, availability of food & beverages. They were also satisfied with the cleanliness, and accommodation facilities. But they were relatively less satisfied with the state of sanitation & safe drinking water, health facilities, and safety-security of the area. The study revealed that the marital status, household’s income, travel distance, and cost of accommodation had a significant positive association with the tourists’ satisfaction. Strangely, this study found significant negative association between per capita expenditure of the tourist and level of their satisfaction. This study revealed that the service-wise levels of satisfaction were highly sensitive to social, demographic as well as visitation characters of the tourists. It is expected that the findings of this study would be very useful in appropriate policy making for tourism development.","PeriodicalId":402404,"journal":{"name":"Atna Journal of Tourism Studies","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132510770","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Globalisation has been providing opportunities to people in every area, including health, but it also has harmful effects on people, health systems, and health services. The researcher conducted a systematic literature review to gain insights into the link between globalisation and health. The keywords used for the searches are “Globalisation and Health System”, “Globalisation and Health Services, “Globalisation and Health Tourism”, and “Globalisation and Medical Tourism”. A total of 47 articles were identified as pertinent for inclusion. The study pointed out that the focus of the literature is shifting toward the role of international agencies in healthcare, international relations’ role, global governance in healthcare, more complex nature of social determinants of health (SDHs), etc. The findings of this study will assist health tourism marketers in identifying their target segment of health tourists.","PeriodicalId":402404,"journal":{"name":"Atna Journal of Tourism Studies","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133173083","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Adoption of a combination approach where demographic variables are amalgamated with the psychographic constructs can be utilized to segment the women on a domestic business trip. This will yield enlightening results for the hospitality marketers which will eventually enable them to design marketing mixes and products suited to fulfil the requirements and preferences of this particular segment of women. Using online surveys along with qualitative techniques for collecting data and analysing them through multivariate statistical techniques may take the hospitality industry to the next level of success.","PeriodicalId":402404,"journal":{"name":"Atna Journal of Tourism Studies","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128089622","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thirty-one papers were downloaded with keywords such as “environment friendly,” \"customer satisfaction,\" \"customer loyalty,\" and \"sustainability\" from various online research databases like Google Scholar, Science Direct, ResearchGate, and Emerald Insights from 2000 to 2020. These papers were critically analysed in terms of the different variables associated with the environmentally friendly measures used in hotels. The study will assist hospitality industry managers in developing appropriate marketing strategies that include green measures in order to achieve guest retention, which will result in increased profits and goodwill for the hotels. In addition, the study sheds light on different variables such as demographics, willingness to pay, and visit intention in relation to green practices and guest satisfaction. The findings reveal that the environment-friendly green initiatives adopted in hotels have a positive effect on customer satisfaction. Moreover, the study emphasises how green practices play a key role in achieving customer loyalty through the mediating effect of customer satisfaction. A model of the positive effects of hotel employee training on environment-friendly practices has also been proposed. The willingness to pay for the environment-friendly initiatives reflect a rather contradictory result since a majority of the guests expect hotels to bear the cost of the green initiatives implemented.","PeriodicalId":402404,"journal":{"name":"Atna Journal of Tourism Studies","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129805628","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The current research aims to find out major determinants and measure the awareness and perception dimensions of ICT importance and usage from tourists’ perspectives of different age categories and education levels visiting the hill town of Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh India. The research is administered to 100 tourists entering through gateway destinations and visiting Dharamshala. ANOVA and Post-Hoc as a statistical tool indicate non-significant differences among different age groups in terms of online availability of tourism products but significant differences in terms of use of various mobile applications for travel purposes. Our results strongly imply creating a better digital tourism ecosystem with policy measures to help reduce digital disparities in the digital age.","PeriodicalId":402404,"journal":{"name":"Atna Journal of Tourism Studies","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132582435","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Lyngdoh","doi":"10.12727/ajts.27.6","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.12727/ajts.27.6","url":null,"abstract":"Tourism is an important economic sector in Meghalaya, contributing 7% (approx) to the state GDP. An inquiry into the tourism development of a destination presents a valuable insight into the nature of progress and acts as a base for the way forward. Accordingly, the current study aims at exploring the tourism development of Meghalaya. It is qualitative in nature, with a focus on interviews conducted with knowledgeable personalities in the field of tourism for input. The study found that tourism development can be viewed in terms of the last 45 years with nature-based beauty as the ‘unique selling proposition’. The stages are classified into inception (1980s-1990s) whereby tourism initiated from Sohra, setting-up (2000-2014) and take-off (2015-2019). The way forward requires a focus on sustainable tourism development, conservation of natural resources, promotion of community-based tourism, infrastructure development and an emphasis on service quality. Here, the role of regulation is seen as critical with the active participation of the stakeholders.","PeriodicalId":402404,"journal":{"name":"Atna Journal of Tourism Studies","volume":"89 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114843633","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study further investigates the nature of tourist spending with respect to different seasons - summer and winter. A survey method has been deployed to collect the primary data for the study. The regional and seasonal differences with respect to the expenditure pattern of the Jammu and Kashmir tourists are analysed with the help of ANOVA. From the ANOVA test, it is found that there is a significant difference in the mean expenditure of tourists visiting the three regions of Jammu and Kashmir. It was further analysed that the seasonal effect on tourist expenditure is stronger in Ladakh than in the Kashmir and Jammu regions and is stronger than the regional effect. The regression analysis has also been used to determine the impact of socioeconomic, demographic, travel-related, and expenditure-related variables on the total expenses of tourists. The regression results confirm that almost all variables significantly impact tourist expenditure. Still, travel-related variables have a more decisive influence than socioeconomic and demographic variables. This study enables the policymakers to obtain the necessary information to implement an adequate policy to attract tourists, who are heavy spenders. It is also beneficial for marketers and tour operators to know the attributes of tourists at a destination, provide them facilities accordingly, and offer them genuine, affordable, and attractive packages to boost their business and tourism inflow to Jammu and Kashmir.","PeriodicalId":402404,"journal":{"name":"Atna Journal of Tourism Studies","volume":"98 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121281379","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a result it leads to balanced and inclusive growth.  To tap the latent potential of the tourism sector, it is necessary to make integrated efforts from all corners of the economy.  One such effort focussed in this paper, has been initiated by the Indian Tax System.  The system has designed various special provisions to motivate the sector, but they are scattered in various Acts.  The knowledge of these provisions facilitate a sound tax planning.  This paper makes an attempt to put important tax provisions, relating to different players in the tourism sector scattered in various tax laws, in one place to provide a basic understanding.  It concludes that the sops offered by the exchequer are inadequate looking at the needs of the industry.  This sector is a cash-cow.  Its yields outweigh the sops and efforts.  Hence, this sector needs focused attention from the policy makers.  ","PeriodicalId":402404,"journal":{"name":"Atna Journal of Tourism Studies","volume":"92 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123031796","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
