The process description to produce activated carbon from African star apple includes removing and drying seed husks, grinding, and preparing activated carbon (AC). The plastic waste materials used for the catalytic pyrolysis process were waste Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE) and High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) plastic, which were sourced from Liberation Stadium Road, GRA Phase IV, Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The effects of activated carbon (AC) as a catalyst on fuel production and gasification efficiency were also evaluated. Proximate and ultimate analyses were conducted on the AC to determine its composition. The results showed that the AC had high fixed carbon content and low volatile matter and ash contents. The experiments also showed that the products' density, calorific value, cetane number, and kinematic viscosity were within the range of diesel fuel specifications. However, the water, flashpoint, acid number, ash, and nitrogen content were higher than diesel fuel. The addition of AC catalyst improved the properties of the pyrolyzed products by reducing the water content, acid number, and ash content.","PeriodicalId":402125,"journal":{"name":"Global Journal of Engineering and Technology Advances","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136343087","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of controlling dual-fed brushless induction generators is to achieve better performance. However, various control techniques applied to this machine have shown their limits in case of sudden fluctuations in rotor speed, relatively long response time, poor stability and high performance sensitivity to parameter fluctuations. Given its difficulty, research has focused on the most advanced technology in the world: artificial intelligence (AI). The main objective of this article is to list all the control techniques that have been applied to the BDFIG. It appears from our study that genetic algorithms as well as the multilayer perceptron have not yet been applied for the control of BDFIG.","PeriodicalId":402125,"journal":{"name":"Global Journal of Engineering and Technology Advances","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136271500","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Public procurement plays a crucial role in acquiring goods, services, and works essential for public service delivery and development. However, Nigeria faces multifaceted challenges including inadequate legal frameworks, corruption, capacity deficiencies, and weak monitoring and enforcement mechanisms. These challenges compromise transparency, efficiency, and accountability in the allocation of public resources. Despite these challenges, there are promising prospects for improvement. Legal reforms, harmonization of regulations, and technology adoption are key strategies. Strengthening transparency and accountability through e-procurement systems, whistleblower protection, and public participation is critical. Additionally, capacity building and professional development for procurement personnel, as well as collaboration with international partners, offer avenues for progress. Drawing lessons from successful cases such as Singapore and the United Kingdom, Nigeria can adapt international best practices to its context. By addressing challenges and embracing prospects, Nigeria can create a procurement landscape that ensures transparency, efficiency, and fairness, contributing to sustainable development and the well-being of its citizens. However, achieving this requires collective commitment, adoption of best practices, and a determination to enhance public procurement standards.","PeriodicalId":402125,"journal":{"name":"Global Journal of Engineering and Technology Advances","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136272377","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The use of technical factors to get a robust alarm management system is illustrated here by two case studies related to air-in-line detection in peritoneal dialysis and insulin pump occlusion management. Air-in-line sensors are usually very sensitive to the presence of small bubbles stuck on tubing and may therefore deliver false alarms. To provide a reliable estimate of the cumulated air volume pumped an IR sensor technology that is insensitive to small bubbles was implemented and tested. Another strategy was used to limit false occlusion alarms in an insulin patch pump. The piezoelectric actuator of this micropump was servo-controlled to the pressure sensor signal to allow insulin to flow into the patient despite the presence of a partial occlusion. The false alarm rate is thus reduced by using a self-adaptive occlusion detection threshold that has been evaluated using numerical simulations.","PeriodicalId":402125,"journal":{"name":"Global Journal of Engineering and Technology Advances","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114863228","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A lot of intrusion scenarios have been carried out by systems administrators or the internal workers over the years in different organizations and the external hackers are berated for it. Many deliberate inversions have happened from the internal actors with top management board members only swinging into actions to manage the effect of it without digging into the inversion to apprehend the actors or the source of the intrusion. So, this work has been designed to assist IT firms to effectively carry out the analysis of the impact of intrusion, especially those from the internal workers. In this work, we proposed a Machine Learning Enabled System for Intelligent Classification of Host-based Intrusion Severity. The proposed model is aimed at detecting the severity of intrusion problems, carryout source analysis and give security recommendation for effective management of intrusion problems. The model is divided into three phases; the detection of intrusion severity, source analysis and security recommendation using counterfacatual reasoning.We built a system that aided us to gather user interaction over time, we captured these interaction in the activity log, our dataset was extracted from these activity log data.We used Bayesian Network to design the intrusion severity classification system, source analysis is carried out immediately, then counterfactual model is employed to give security recommendation. The accuracy of Bayesian Network in the intrusion severity classification model is 82%. An API was generated and deployed to allow scalability.","PeriodicalId":402125,"journal":{"name":"Global Journal of Engineering and Technology Advances","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136272198","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The sweet potato slices were treated using blanching and salting with slices ranging from 3mm to 7mm. The study employed Response Surface Methodology (RSM) to analyze the results. The study found that the thickness of the sliced sweet potato had a linear effect on drying rate and weight loss. Additionally, the interaction between drying temperature and the selected pre-treatment (blanching and salting) was found to significantly influence drying rate and weight loss, when the significance level for the observed effects was set at p < 0.05. Conclusively the results of the investigation indicated that the cabinet dryer used in the study was capable of effectively handling the drying of roots and tuber crops, specifically sweet potato slices. This suggests that the drying process could potentially extend the shelf life of these agricultural materials.","PeriodicalId":402125,"journal":{"name":"Global Journal of Engineering and Technology Advances","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136277082","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Today, LNG represents a significant component of the energy consumption of many countries and has been profitable to both the exporting host countries and their energy company partners. The attention of LNG producers have now been directed towards improved production. All latest plants have been sized around this number. Some of them have been designed by optimizing existing layout, other brand new and few required the optimization of centrifugal compressors and so the introduction of some novelty to maximize production given a certain driver. Improvements in the aerodynamic design have been necessary to maximize efficiency and increase operating range; advanced rotordynamic design to handle more capacity, new casings to increase design pressure and reduce the number are some of the innovations introduced to advance LNG operations. Novelties have not been limited to main refrigerant compressor but also to auxiliaries such as Boil Off Gas (BOG), CO2, End Flash. Eventually also new drivers have been qualified for LNG plant operations and other are under study for its high efficiency and possible future application. Extensive application of modular construction techniques will reduce the time and cost of construction in remote areas of the world. This article aims to explain, in layman terms, LNG basic knowledge, exploration, production and advancement. Throughout the article, references have been drawn from a wide range of resources and author’s personal industry experience. It is intended to use the article as a vehicle to share oil & gas industry knowledge with a wide range of audience.","PeriodicalId":402125,"journal":{"name":"Global Journal of Engineering and Technology Advances","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136277090","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
