We find that the treatment did not noticeably affect second year retention rate or student academic performance, though the intervention may have changed parental beliefs in promising ways. The ranking is based on the analysis of the bibliometric data of the Russian Science Citation Index. The author substantiated the composition of indicators that, in the author’s opinion, provide the most objective approach to evaluating the importance of the title in the scientific community, are the most transparent and make it easy to verify the results obtained. The ranking is based on an integral index calculated by the method of multidimensional comparative analysis. The index was calculated with the use of standardized coefficients, by normalizing the bibliometric indicators relative to the maximum values of the indicators under comparison. The data thus obtained helped distinguish the core consisting of ten leading journals in economics and related disciplines among those published by economic institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences. These journals include publications with significant citation metrics and a wide range of contributors and readers. An online survey was designed and distributed across academic staff and postgraduate research students at different universities in Great Britain. Respondents (n = 202 - 244) identified the likelihoods of six different (quasi) hypothetical occurrences causing them to doubt or question work they have published in peer reviewed journals. They are: two objective and two semi-objective citation based metrics, plus two semi- objective metrics based on verbalised reactions. Only limited support is found from this study to suggest that the authors of primary research would agree with any judgements made by others about their research based on these metrics. The occurrence most likely to cause respondents to doubt or question their previously published research was where the majority of citing studies suggested mistakes in their work. In a multivariate context, only age and nationality are significant determinants of doubt beyond average likelihoods. Данная работа посвящена теоретическому и эмпирическому осмыслению тенденций последних лет. Теоретическая часть обобщает основные подходы к роли коммуникации в формировании городской среды через призму городских сообществ, а также городских пространств различного типа, которые могут становиться как источниками преодоления инаковости, так и способом установления социальных границ. Эмпирическая часть основана на анализе актуальных тенденцией развития коммуникационных форматов в Ярославе, городе, известном новаторскими проектами в этой сфере. В работе содержится детальный анализ существующих в городе площадок, генерирующих коммуникацию горожан, приведена их типологизация, выявлены и описаны лучшие практики, а также существующие ограничения развития таких проектов. \u0000 \u0000English Abstract: Urban environment creates communications that can either serve as a \"melting pot\" and to work for the maintenance of social distance in a limited physical space. This work is devoted to theoretical and empirical understanding of trends in recent years. The theoretical part summarizes the main approaches to the role of communication in shaping the urban environment through the prism of urban communities, as well as various types of urban spaces that can become as a source of overcoming alterity and manner of establishing social boundaries. The empirical part is based on an analysis of current trends and communication formats in Yaroslav, a city known for innovative projects in this area. They generate an energy transformation in such a way that it cannot be used to add value to a function other than that implicit in the object’s purpose. They are transforming systems; therefore, they have a high entropy level. Their quality assurance systems are quite basic to be reliable. Their failures result in considerable energy losses. That is why their purpose should be clearly defined as well as the analogous and homologous fields where the energy transformation is produced. The maximal strategy of systemic objects is to generate the transformation of energy that is needed to add value within the use of a quality assurance system. The maximal strategy implies that the energy consumption and waste of energy are minimized in order to provide the maximal added value accepted by the client with the minimum cost. Nunziata","doi":"10.2139/ssrn.2575060","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.2139/ssrn.2575060","url":null,"abstract":"We use European Social Survey and Labour Force Survey data to estimate the causal effect of education on European natives' opinion toward immigration exploiting reforms in compulsory education in Europe in the 1960s through the 1990s. Our findings show that higher education leads to a more positive attitude toward immigrants. We also investigate the mechanisms behind the effect of education on attitudes by evaluating both economic and non-economic channels. We find that higher education places individuals in occupations that are less exposed to the negative externalities of migration, although not in sectors/occupations where the share of migrants is necessarily smaller, suggesting that migrants and low-educated natives are complementary rather than substitutes in the labour market. In addition, education alters values and the cognitive assessment of the role of immigration in host societies, with a positive effect on tolerance of diversity and a positive effect on the assessment of immigration's role in host countries. Due to the increasing number of research projects that receive public funding and that are carried out with the support from various funds, special importance is attached to the issue concerning the analysis and comprehensive evaluation of scientific research performance and the choice of the most promising research topics. The article substantiates the necessity to develop a national information and analytical system of citation, which should become part of the system to assess the effectiveness and performance of Russian scientists and scientific organizations. The author uses the analysis of bibliometric indicators of the Russian Science Citation Index and shows the evolution of publication activity of organizations engaged in economic research and subordinate to the Federal Agency of Scientific Organizations of Russia. The results demonstrate that scientific organizations increase their publication activity in the RSCI, improve the quality of publications and their scientific and practical significance, as evidenced by the steadily increasing citation rates.
