The research intended to ascertain the association between the religious index and risky sexual behaviors among adolescents of the University of Bohol in School Year 2018-2019. The study utilized the descriptive normative survey method. There were 378 respondents included in this study within the age range of 18-21, taking a 95% confidence interval with 4.88 degrees of error. The research study used a tool modified from the national survey on the University of the Philippines Population Institute’s (U.P.P.I.) research on Young Adult Fertility Study (Y.A.F.S.). The researchers ensured the utmost confidentiality of the data. The overall religious index of the respondents is relatively high (3.06). Results revealed that the age and sex of the respondents are directly proportional to premarital sex. Premarital sex also increases with age. In particular, results showed an inverse association between the sex of the respondents and premarital sex, sex of the respondents and unprotected sex, sex of the respondents, and multiple sexual partnerships. It also showed that the overall religiosity index was not significantly correlated with premarital sex, unprotected sex, multiple sex partners. There is a need to establish a concrete connection between religious beliefs and religious practices in coming up with the respondents’ sound decisions on their sexual behaviors. Still, sound decision-making needs to be anchored on firmed-up distillation between religious beliefs and religious practices.","PeriodicalId":399018,"journal":{"name":"University of Bohol Multidisciplinary Research Journal","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133187500","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Mental health is a state of well-being in which individuals can cope with the normal adversities in life (WHO, 2004). Good mental health is crucial for students as it could lead to satisfactory academic performance. This study aimed to assess the mental health status of the University of Bohol College of Nursing Students. It delved into the demographic profile and the mental health of the respondents in terms of psychological, physical, and emotional aspects; and looked into the correlation/association between the respondents’ profile and mental health status.  It utilized the quantitative, descriptive-correlational research design aided with a modified questionnaire adapted from an article entitled “Here to Help, Body Image, Self-Esteem, and Mental Health” by the Canadian Mental Health Association. Two hundred randomly selected nursing students from the University of Bohol who were enrolled in the 2nd Semester, SY 2021- 2021 were included in the study. Results revealed that respondents have good mental health in terms of psychological, physical, and emotional aspects. When data were subjected to Spearman’s rank test of correlation and chi-square test of association, results revealed that age is significantly correlated to mental health and that the gender and year level has no significant association to mental health.","PeriodicalId":399018,"journal":{"name":"University of Bohol Multidisciplinary Research Journal","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122070552","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research engagement utilized the quantitative method, using a descriptive-normative survey in gathering the data. The inclusion criteria in this particular study were the randomly selected 17respondents of the 30 top management and the 161 of the 370 rank-and-file and job order employees of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Panglao at 95% confidence level and 5% degree of error. It underwent an ethics review to ensure that the “do-no-harm” was observed in the study’s entire conduct. The result shows that respondents often used the unmediated or interpersonal method in communicating with the higher-ups. The unmediated method of face-to-face is moderately effective. In lateral communication, the unmediated face-to-face and mediated methods of SMS/text messaging are very effective. Furthermore, respondents in all groups have moderate affective, continuance, and normative commitment levels. A significant correlation is found between the level of communication effectiveness on both affective and continuance organizational commitment. However, an inverse correlation between the level of communication effectiveness and normative organizational commitment was found. Although proven repeatedly in research, communication effectiveness and organizational commitment are directly correlated but not always directly correlated. In the context of the study, that term limit affects such. Of the three dimensions of organizational commitment, only the affective and continuance commitment reveals a significant direct correlation with communication effectiveness.","PeriodicalId":399018,"journal":{"name":"University of Bohol Multidisciplinary Research Journal","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122509343","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Ancillary functions are additional responsibilities other than the mandated teaching load mandated by the department manual. The study looked into classroom performance and ancillary functions among secondary school teachers in the 3rd district of Bohol. It also determined if a correlation exists between the two variables. It utilized the descriptive-normative method with a survey tool to gather data from administrators, coordinators, and faculty among selected secondary public and private schools in the 3rd congressional district, Bohol. Overall, there was a 440-sample size from a 505 population with a 1.68 margin of error at a 95 percent confidence interval. It used frequencies, percentages, weighted mean, and nonparametric statistical treatment utilizing Spearman Rho, Fisher’s Exact Test, Pearson’s Correlation Coefficient, and Paired Sample Test. Freidman Test of Difference. Findings revealed that the overall performance in announced observation was “Outstanding” while unannounced observations were rated “Satisfactory.” Results revealed that teachers were partially involved in ancillary functions. A significant correlation was found between each of the nine indicators of classroom performance and the level of ancillary functions. Hence, when the given indicators of classroom performance are leveled up, the teachers are more likely to be engaged in ancillary functions. Teacher respondents in private schools obtained higher ratings in unannounced classroom observations.","PeriodicalId":399018,"journal":{"name":"University of Bohol Multidisciplinary Research Journal","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127563012","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It was tested on the 35 school heads and 315 public school teachers in the districts of Dimiao, Lila, Sevilla, Loboc, and Loay. It used a quantitative standardized survey instrument to determine the school heads' leadership styles. Findings revealed that school heads were mostly 41 to 60 years old, mainly female, mostly married, most had MA units, had Principal 1 designation, and had been in the service for 11 to 15 years. As assessed by the school heads themselves and the teachers, the majority of school leaders were going through a transition phase as to leadership styles, with a few using delegative and authoritarian styles, and none applying the participative style. Results revealed significant relationships between the self-assessed leadership styles and age and civil status, while statistically insignificant results in the relationship between the leadership styles and sex, educational attainment, designation, and length of service. As to the teacher-assessed leadership styles and the school heads' profile, the relationships were statistically insignificant. Furthermore, there was no association between the self-assessed and the teacher-assessed school heads' leadership styles.","PeriodicalId":399018,"journal":{"name":"University of Bohol Multidisciplinary Research Journal","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123177248","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the Department of Education administered a set of examinations like the National Achievement Test which is designed to determine the learner's achievement level, strengths, and weaknesses in five curricular subject areas at the end of the school year. The study intended to look into the relationship between academic performance in Mathematics and NAT results. There has been a purposive universal sampling design. It is purposive because the research is only studying the academic performance in Mathematics, and universal because the subjects of the study are all the grade six pupils of Victoriano D. Tirol Advanced Learning Center for four consecutive school years. Documentary analysis was used as to the data of existing records on the academic performance and National Achievement Test results in Mathematics. The association between academic achievement and NAT outcomes in Mathematics was investigated using correlation analysis and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). The analyses revealed that there is a significant correlation between the pupil's academic performance and NAT results. Also, there is a significant degree of variance in the student's performance as to National Achievement Test Results in four consecutive school years.","PeriodicalId":399018,"journal":{"name":"University of Bohol Multidisciplinary Research Journal","volume":"197 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121330374","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Both positive and negative events can impact how people live their lives and how they manage stress emotionally, socially, and spiritually. Clinical teachers face a variety of stresses, particularly when the academe transitions to a new normal.  This study aims to determine the stress management practices among clinical instructors at the University of Bohol. This research utilized a descriptive quantitative method. It included all 19 regular and contractual clinical instructors from the college of nursing of the University of Bohol. A self-constructed questionnaire was used to conduct the online survey, utilizing the google form for the respondents' responses. The questionnaire was of two parts; demographic profile and stress management practices categorized as spiritual, emotional, and social. The questionnaire was validated through pilot testing using Cronbach’s Alpha test to assess its reliability and obtained a more than accepted reliability result of 0.70. The study's findings indicated that clinical instructors are more inclined to spiritual activities such as talking to God and going to church as the best way to manage stress. It also showed that doing diversional activities and getting along with friends contribute to managing stress. The finding also revealed that the demographic profile does not influence the level of stress management practices. The study further concluded that clinical instructors utilize stress management practices and found it useful to maintain a strong, healthy workplace culture conducive to creativity and productivity.","PeriodicalId":399018,"journal":{"name":"University of Bohol Multidisciplinary Research Journal","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134322716","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study further sought to find out the perceived level of attitude and motivation of the respondents in the aspects of integrative and instrumental motivation. The study utilized the quantitative descriptive method, and the process of data collection was done through an adopted and modified questionnaire. The respondents answered the three-part questionnaire under the guidance of the researchers. The results of the study disclosed a composite mean of 3.11, described as High Motivation which indicates that respondents were of a high level of integrative motivation towards learning the English language. Moreover, the level of instrumental motivation had a composite mean of 3.29 with the interpretation of “Very High Motivation,” which also signifies that students are motivated to study the language because of extrinsic motivation. The result further showed a direct relationship between students’ attitudes and motivation toward learning the English language. Hence, students are highly motivated because they have a positive attitude towards the language. Finally, the results indicated that there is no significant degree of difference between intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. Recommendations have been presented to enhance the student's level of interest in English language learning.","PeriodicalId":399018,"journal":{"name":"University of Bohol Multidisciplinary Research Journal","volume":"132 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114765792","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
