SLU consists of User Intent Detection (UID) and Slot Filling (SF) modules. The accuracy of these modules is highly dependent on the collected data. On the other hand, labeling operation is a tedious task due to the large number of labels required. In this paper, intent labeling for two datasets is performed using an unsupervised learning method. In traditional methods of extracting features from text, the feature space that is obtained is very large, therefore we implemented a novel architecture of auto-encoder neural networks that is based on the attention mechanism to extract small and efficient feature space. This architecture which is called Bi-LSTM CNN Cross Attention Mechanism (BCCAM), crosswise applies the attention mechanism from Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) layer to Bi-LSTM layer and vice versa. Then, after finding a bottleneck on this auto-encoder network, the desired features are extracted from it. Once the features are extracted, then we cluster each sentence corresponding to its feature space using different clustering algorithms, including K-means, DEC, Agglomerative, OPTICS and Gaussian mixture model. In order to evaluate the performance of the model, two datasets are used, including ATIS and SNIPS. After executing various algorithms over the extracted feature space, the best obtained accuracy and NMI for ATIS dataset are 86.5 and 91.6, respectively, and for SNIPS dataset are 49.9 and 43.0, respectively.","PeriodicalId":398727,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Advances in Artificial Intelligence","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114911978","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Today's employers require employees to have soft skills in addition to technical skills. Therefore, this study was conducted to gain clear perceptions of four populations including students, teachers, employees and employers of the importance of soft skills at work. The results revealed that most of the participants emphasized the necessity of good soft skills. According to the employers, it is advisable to possess advanced soft skills in order to work effectively and productively. However, some of them expressed their disappointment to the employees who owned great technical skills but lacking of basic soft skills to adapt to a new working environment and company culture as well as to solve the problems arising at work. This issue is supposed to be closely correlated with the lack of soft skills training at university. Consequently, an obvious implication to universities in general and public universities in particular was grasped. It is important for higher education institutions to be aware of the need for soft skills for today's workplace so that they can provide essential soft skills training courses for their students.","PeriodicalId":398727,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Advances in Artificial Intelligence","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123484947","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It happened soon before the national university entrance exams, which caused a huge number of challenges to the Ministry of Education and Training in particular. Consequently, the Vietnamese Government decided to apply social distance in various cities and provinces to hinder the pandemic. At the same time, the Government required the Ministry of Education and Training as well as educational institutions in every level of education to come up with a lasting solution to deal with the alarming situation to ensure the continuity of teaching and learning. Hence, synchronous e-learning with its obvious advantages has been employed more commonly throughout the country compared to the first wave of the pandemic. This survey study was conducted with a large number of students in some public universities in Vietnam to investigate the importance of synchronous e-learning implementation during the pandemic. A graphic organizer is a visual and graphical representation of the relationships between facts, terms, and/or concepts in a learning task. Additionally, graphic organizers are referred to as knowledge maps, concept maps, storey maps, cognitive organizers, advanced organizers, and concept diagrams. The purpose of this study was to ascertain students' perceptions of the effect of GOs on their reading comprehension abilities. Fifty freshmen in two reading classes of a private university in Ho Chi Minh City who were undertaking the English Preparation Course with the reading skills took part in this study. In order to understand students' perceptions of the use of GOs on reading comprehension, quantitative and qualitative data were collected and analyzed in a survey and a post-interview. The findings indicated that students found GOs practical and helpful for improving their reading comprehension skills and other abilities such as summarizing the long texts, comparing and contrasting two concepts or notions, especially their critical thinking skills in questioning themselves. Also, some recommendations regarding the assessment scheme and how to use GOs more effectively in the learning process were offered by students to increase the potentially actual value of GOs for the EFL students in reading comprehension skills as well as in their future majored course.","PeriodicalId":398727,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Advances in Artificial Intelligence","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121135922","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The transition from traditional method to online learning method has been occurring in every country in the world, especially in today's context where the pandemic of the COVID-19 is still affecting the world's education. In this study, the author analyzes and compares students' academic results of Customer psychology course employed traditional method and online learning method at a vocational institution in Hanoi, Vietnam. The author uses a simple statistical method to process the data. The secondary data used in the analysis are collected from the Department of Academic Affair at the studied institution. The research results show that the traditional teaching and learning method brings good learning outcomes for students. Specifically, the pass rate is high, the fail rate is low and so is the ineligibility rate. With online learning method, the academic results are a bit worse compared to traditional method regarding the pass rate and fail rate, but the percentage of students who are eligible to take the test is higher than the traditional method. In general, the online learning method with its prominent benefits still brings positive results for students. If the institution continues to implement this method, it is necessary to make some adjustments. © 2021 Association for Computing Machinery. This transition has brought both pros and cons to students and teachers. Teachers and students who previously did not consider online learning to be authentic education have now got a taste of it. Faculty members acquired new technological abilities. Large numbers of emergency remote courses were deployed almost simultaneously by institutions with a small online footprint, illustrating the potential for scalability in the online learning method. However, this transition was planned and carried out fast, necessitating urgent redesigns of courses that were originally designed for live instruction, causing various challenges for both stake holders. One of the most significant challenges is the lack of student engagement in online environment. This study was carried out to investigate students’ perceptions of factors influencing their engagement in online classes during the pandemic of Covid-19. Data was collected from 157 students from different majors. The questionnaire was designed with Google form using a five-point Likert scale. The results show that students have positive perceptions of the factors that influence their participation in the lesson including the quality of the learning management system, teacher personality and availability, teachers’ lecturing skills and teacher activation of students in classes.","PeriodicalId":398727,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Advances in Artificial Intelligence","volume":"124 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122093344","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Famous in the present era is steel fibers which has been used as reinforcement to increase shear resistance of beams and reduced crack widths. Using the following parameters such as beam height (h), effective depth (d), width (bw), cross sectional area of longitudinal reinforcement (As), shear span-depth ratio (a/d), compressive strength of concrete (f'c), fiber volume fraction (Vf), fiber length (Lf), and fiber diameter (df), a shear strength model was developed using a backpropagation neural network. The model with the best R value of 0.99098 and MSE value of 0.03575 is the governing Artificial Neural Network (ANN) shear strength model. Moreover, Garson's Algorithm was utilized in the sensitivity analysis to show and describe the influence of each parameter to the shear strength of reinforced concrete with steel fibers. Performing the algorithm, the relative importance of parameters was ranked based from its significance to shear strength of beams with steel fibers. The ranking of importance is fiber length<beam width<fiber volume fraction<beam height<compressive strength of concrete<shear span to depth ratio<beam effective depth<area of longitudinal reinforcement.","PeriodicalId":398727,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Advances in Artificial Intelligence","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121676301","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is one of the first visual symbols a company creates in the early stages of planning for this business. The logo must be unique and captures the idea of that business to make it easier for the common people to figure out what this business is about from the logo. With logos and trademarks details are very important where every element in the logo would make a difference including the colours used, shapes and fonts. Many efforts were made in last few years to detect, recognize or match similarities between logos; Moreover one of the major challenges faced was finding the correct dataset that include different local and international clear logos to test on . Thus, this paper presents a new dataset that would help in these types of machine learning project which provides 10K logo images with 2000 unique logo.","PeriodicalId":398727,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Advances in Artificial Intelligence","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123946605","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
