U istraživanju je sudjelovalo dvadesetero mladih koji su se liječili od nekog oblika maligne bolesti (akutne limfoblastične leukemije (ALL), meduloblastoma, osteosarkoma, Ewingova sarkoma, Non-Hodgkinova limfoma i aplastične anemije). Primijenjena metoda prikupljanja podataka bio je anketni upitnik, a dobiveni su podaci analizirani metodom tematske analize. Generirane su tri glavne teme istraživanja: 1) saznanje o bolesti, 2) zahtjevni aspekti liječenja i 3) percipirani negativni i pozitivni ishodi oboljenja. Rezultati izvješćuju o reakcijama na dobivanje dijagnoze i o razumijevanju prirode bolesti. Upućuju na to da je za mlade tijekom liječenja bila zahtjevna socijalna izolacija, odvojenost od članova socijalne mreže, određeni medicinski postupci i nerazumijevanje od strane okoline. Bolest je utjecala na njihov tjelesni izgled i uzrokovala gubitak samopouzdanja i bezbrižnog djetinjstva, smanjenu mogućnost obrazovanja, smanjeni izbor aktivnosti slobodnog vremena te slabljenje društvenih kontakata. Unatoč nepovoljnim posljedicama bolesti prisutne su i one pozitivne koje mladi prepoznaju kroz povećanu zrelost i osobnu snagu te angažman u organizacijama civilnog društva koje se bave vršnjačkom podrškom oboljelima. Dobivene empirijske spoznaje sugeriraju potrebu za sveobuhvatnom psihosocijalnom podrškom oboljelima, tijekom i nakon aktivnog tretmana liječenja u područjima informacijske podrške, tjelesnog i mentalnog zdravlja, obrazovnih postignuća i vršnjačke edukacije.","PeriodicalId":39824,"journal":{"name":"Hrvatska Revija Za Rehabilitacijska Istrazivanja","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69359106","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The EU member states, including Croatia, invest in higher education through different operational programmes to increase access to education for all citizens. Equal access to higher education for all is at the core of EU education policies for inclusion. Moreover, the education policy importance rises on the European agenda as the concept of knowledge society becomes central to European competitiveness on the global market. This paper aimed to examine how professionals employed by support services for students with disabilities perceive the respect of the right to higher education for students with disabilities at the University of Zagreb. The paper is based on qualitative research from 2019, which involved semi-structured interviews and thematic analysis of data. The research included 10 professionals employed by the support services for students with disabilities at the University of Zagreb. Although the results indicated certain good practice examples of respecting the right to higher education, they also pointed out the challenges that ought to be addressed in line with contemporary inclusive practices in Europe. In the future, improvements are recommended in the following areas: standardising assistance and transportation, adapting infrastructure, continuing training of the teaching staff, raising student awareness and human resource development at the Office for Students with Disabilities.","PeriodicalId":39824,"journal":{"name":"Hrvatska Revija Za Rehabilitacijska Istrazivanja","volume":"56 1","pages":"61-82"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69359036","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

More recent understandings of resilience define it as the capacity of a dynamic system to successfully adapt to disruptive factors that threaten the sustainability or development of that system. The present study aimed to examine the relationships between psychological trauma, depression and certain factors of resilience in a clinical sample of children (N = 103). To test the hypotheses, the following measuring instruments were used: the Trauma Symptom Checklist (TSCC), Beck Youth Inventories - Second Edition, Child and Youth Resilience Measure (CYRM-28), as well as assessment of psychotraumatization. The results were not quite consistent with previous studies of resilience, so that the hypothesis that abused, non-traumatised children would have significantly higher scores on the resilience measure than abused children was not confirmed. The results do suggest that abuse is more likely to occur among children whose caregivers do not provide care for their physical and psychological needs. It has also been confirmed that caregivers’ neglect of psychological needs is related to more significant negative psychological outcomes than caregivers’ neglect of physical needs. Additionally, the study found a greater negative correlation between resilience and depression in traumatised children than in non-traumatised children.","PeriodicalId":39824,"journal":{"name":"Hrvatska Revija Za Rehabilitacijska Istrazivanja","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69358977","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Također cilj istraživanja bio je i ustanoviti koji od sociodemografskih pokazatelja pridonose samoprocjeni znanja o radu s učenicima s autizmom, ali i inkluziji općenito. Za potrebe ovog istraživanja osmišljen je upitnik Samoprocjene znanja o inkluziji i autizmu (SZIA) koji se sastoji od 2 subskale. Prva subskala, Samoprocjena specifičnih znanja o autizmu, mjeri samoprocijenjeno znanje o radu s učenicima s autizmom, dok druga, Samoprocjena općih znanja o inkluziji, mjeri samoprocijenjeno znanje pomoćnika u nastavi o inkluziji općenito. Sastavljen je i Sociodemografski upitnik kojim su prikupljeni ostali podaci o sudionicima istraživanja. Prema dobivenim rezultatima početni motiv za rad te godine rada s učenicima s autizmom statistički su značajno pozitivno povezane, a završena edukacija za pomoćnika u nastavi te iskustvo rada s ovim učenicima statistički su značajno negativno povezani sa samoprocjenom znanja o radu s učenicima s autizmom, no nemaju bitnu ulogu u samoprocjeni znanja o inkluziji. Također među sudionicima istraživanja postoje statistički značajne razlike pri samoprocjeni znanja o radu s učenicima s autizmom. To se posebice odnosi na početni motiv za rad, završenu edukaciju za pomoćnika u nastavi te iskustvo rada s učenicima s autizmom, dok godine rada u ulozi pomoćnika ne čine statistički značajnu razliku. Na koncu pokazalo se i da samoprocijenjeno znanje o inkluziji statistički značajno pridonosi samoprocijenjenom znanju o radu s učenicima s autizmom. Ovakva istraživanja imaju izuzetan potencijal za dobivanje boljeg uvida u znanja i kompetencije pomoćnika, a samim tim i u kvalitetu rada istih.","PeriodicalId":39824,"journal":{"name":"Hrvatska Revija Za Rehabilitacijska Istrazivanja","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69359052","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this study was to investigate the role of disability acceptance in terms of the quality of social relationships among women with spinal cord injury. Social relationship quality was conceptualised as a construct that included two indicators, namely strength of relationship and social support. Ninety (N=90) women with spinal cord injury completed the Strength of Interpersonal Relationships Questionnaire (Zbieg and Słowińska, 2015), Social Support Scale (Kmiecik-Baran, 1995), and Multidimensional Acceptance of Loss Scale (Byra, 2017). Such methodological tools as descriptive statistics, correlation analysis (Pearson’s correlation coefficients) and progressive stepwise regression analysis were used. The study showed that the most important value for the surveyed women was the time devoted to relationships. The most frequent kinds of received support were informational and emotional. In addition, the most common change in the perception of disability acceptance was the containment of its effects and a transformation from comparative value to asset value. A significant correlation between the included variables was observed. It is also well worth mentioning that the two subscales of disability acceptance entailed a predictive function in explaining social relationship quality; however, the two subscales explained a surprisingly low percentage of observed variance. It is reasonable to suggest other ways of explaining this phenomenon.","PeriodicalId":39824,"journal":{"name":"Hrvatska Revija Za Rehabilitacijska Istrazivanja","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47422244","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to diagnose an intellectual disability, it is important not only to demonstrate an overall level of intelligence that is at least two standard deviations below the median score, but also to take into account the concurrent criterion of developmental age. Moreover, as discussed in this article, defining an intellectual disability also requires addressing limitations in adaptive behaviour, i.e. cognitive, social and practical functioning skills. These diagnostic criteria are met by the “Adaptive Behavior Assessment System” (ABAS), published originally in 2000 by Harrison and Oakland. Its third edition came out in 2015. ABAS-based evaluations find a wide variety of uses, including assessing adaptive behaviour of people with intellectual disabilities, diagnosing and classifying disabilities and disorders, documenting and monitoring progress over time, and determining entitlement to disability benefits. The instrument has many strengths, but it also exhibits limitations. For example, comprehensive examination is only possible if the localised adaptations of ABAS are suited for people in the age bracket of 0-89 years. The effective use of this instrument is also dependent on its compatibility with the formal disability assessment system and with the strategies for working with students who have intellectual disabilities. The level of this compatibility should be no less than the American variant. Only then will ABAS-3 be fully adaptable to the purpose for which the assessment is developed, and the results obtained will be useful and properly applied.","PeriodicalId":39824,"journal":{"name":"Hrvatska Revija Za Rehabilitacijska Istrazivanja","volume":"48 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69359089","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A sample of 173 teachers from Poland and 139 from Croatia completed the Scale on Quality Indicators for Inclusion – for Teachers. In general, teachers reported positive assessments of inclusion quality. Respondents from both countries gave highest ratings on the subscale Support monitoring and evaluation, while the lowest ratings were given on the subscale Teaching assistant support by Polish participants and on the subscale Resources for inclusive education by the Croatian sample. Poland teachers gave higher ratings than Croatian teachers on all the subscales except Teaching assistant support. The discussion makes an attempt to present how two different societal contexts shape the development and implementation of inclusion.","PeriodicalId":39824,"journal":{"name":"Hrvatska Revija Za Rehabilitacijska Istrazivanja","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69359045","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We have developed a set of tests that assesses preliteracy competence based on well-established foreign and Slovenian instruments or tools. A sample of 307 children aged from five to seven years were tested. A high Cronbach alpha coefficient (alpha = 0.87) indicates that the design instrument is an internally reliable instrument. This paper showcases and describes the differences in the development of preliteracy competence in different age group. The results show that children between 5 and 7 show the greatest development of the abilities to discern the initial sound, to analyse the sound, to notice the removal of sounds or syllables from a meaningless word, and to recall words on a given phoneme. Exploratory factor analysis with oblimin rotation revealed that preliteracy competence is best understood as a four-dimensional construct among children aged five to seven years. The first dimension is defined by higher-level phonological awareness, verbal memory, and rapid automatic naming, so it is metaphonology. The second factor, named perceptual language structure, expresses macro-linguistic structure (syllable, rhymes) and discrimination of words that sound similar. The third factor, named vocabulary, is saturated mostly by syllable analysis, vocabulary and word comprehension. The fourth factor is visual processing and capturing, which enable storage and refreshing of non-verbal information and the discrimination of symbols. The differences in development of preliteracy competency indicate intervention in the following areas: phonological awareness, verbal short-term memory, visual processing (discrimination and short-term memory) and vocabulary knowledge.","PeriodicalId":39824,"journal":{"name":"Hrvatska Revija Za Rehabilitacijska Istrazivanja","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69358959","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this paper was to evaluate reliability and validity of the self - reporting method in detecting functional difficulties among elderly persons with cardiovascular diseases. The Groningen Activity Restriction Scale was used to assess the limitations in functional capacity. The sample consisted of patients over the age of 65 with hypertensive disease, angina pectoris, ischaemic heart disease, degenerative valvular disorders, peripheral arterial disease, cardiac arrhythmias, cardiomyopathy and heart failure. The Cronbach’s alpha internal consistency coefficient was calculated for the total result. Differences in outcome with respect to age, educational level, marital status, and medical diagnoses of participants were compared by means of a t-test or one-way ANOVA. In the group of ADL, participants reported difficulties in climbing stairs (M=2.14, SD=1.07) and caring for feet and toenails (M=2.17, SD=1.27), while in the group of IADL, difficulties were present in performing heavier household chores (M=2.51, SD=1.31) as well as ironing and washing clothes (M=2.20, SD=1.29). Calculation of the Cronbach’s alpha coefficient points to a high degree of internal consistency for this scale on a chosen sample (α=0.95). The use of a validated self-reporting tool may be a valuable and reliable way for assessing the functional capacity of elderly persons with chronic diseases. The findings of this study indicate the possibility of using this method for prognostic purposes in patients with cardiovascular diseases. Introduction of instrumental support measures in a timely manner has a crucial role in delaying the progression of functional dependence.","PeriodicalId":39824,"journal":{"name":"Hrvatska Revija Za Rehabilitacijska Istrazivanja","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49194148","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
