The correct body-weight balance allows the rider to smoothly change the riding positions. While observing the riders on the jumping courses we can note a wide variety of riding positions in the distance ride as well as approaching the obstacle. The research was conducted during competitions in show jumping. The analysis was based on 80 riders participating in 4 competitions, 27 of which were not of Polish nationality. The total of 93 horses was taken into consideration. Special attention was paid to the sitting position in different elements of the round (arches, turns, lines etc.). There were three dominating riding positions: half seat – HS – 1, light seat – LS – 2, full seat – FS – 3. In order to show more detailed characteristics of the aforementioned riding positions three last fouls before the jump are presented in a so-called “sequence”. The most effective sequence in approaching verticals and double bars was sequence II (full seat – full seat – light seat), in case of oxers the least fault-prone was sequence I (3 full seats). The analysis showed that the best riders chose a light seat most frequently. However, it was the full seat that was chosen most often and the correlation between this riding position and the number of faults is significant.","PeriodicalId":397658,"journal":{"name":"Annales Umcs, Zootechnica","volume":"66 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131317241","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Twenty-four White Improved male goat kids were fattened until 95 days of age. After slaughter, we collected samples from the longissimus dorsi muscles to determine its chemical composition and the fatty acid and cholesterol content. We found that the addition of 10% crushed linseed to nutritionally rich feed increased the unsaturated fatty acid content and slightly increased the cholesterol level in the muscle tissue lipid fraction; this increase is potentially beneficial with regard to human nutrition.","PeriodicalId":397658,"journal":{"name":"Annales Umcs, Zootechnica","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129501272","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An increasing amount of wastes associated with poultry raising in highly intensive farming environment has been the growing cause of concern. Huge, modern poultry farms face grave problems concerning the disposal of poultry litter, noxious odour emission, pollution of water, soil and air. The objective of the present research was to determine the effect of layer hens` age on quantitative and qualitative contamination of litter. The experimental material was constituted by the litter samples collected from three hen facilities (three age groups) in the farm of laying hens of Hy-line. The microbial analysis included: meso- and psychrophylic bacteria, bacteria from coli group, thermotolerant, proteolytic, etc. In the indoor sampling sites, there were also measured chosen microclimatic factors. The microbiological evaluation revealed the highest microbial contamination of litter, analyzing three age groups of laying hens, in the hen building K3 (birds aged 54 weeks), followed by K2 hen house (30-week-old birds) and the lowest in the K1 (6 weeks of age).","PeriodicalId":397658,"journal":{"name":"Annales Umcs, Zootechnica","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124143884","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The result of the collapse of agriculture and rural depopulation is the wilderness of mountain meadows and pastures, which may prevent even limited sheep grazing. The studies compared quantitative and species composition of 10 experimental fields grazed and non-grazed by animals. Test results indicate that even limited sheep grazing (400 sheep on the area of 300 ha) effectively stops the invasion of shrubs and trees, and it also has an influence on the botanical composition of pasture.","PeriodicalId":397658,"journal":{"name":"Annales Umcs, Zootechnica","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115324867","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective of this study was to identify the characteristic features of trees and shrubs utilized by the European beaver in the Jamy Forest District. A total of 273 trees and shrubs cut down by beavers were analyzed to identify their species, diameter and distance from the watercourse bank. Tree species which were most frequently felled by beavers were the grey alder, black alder and pedunculate oak. At the three monitored sites, beavers showed a preference for trees with a diameter of up to 15.0 cm. Beavers were most likely to utilize trees and shrubs situated at a distance of up to 15.0 m from the watercourse bank.","PeriodicalId":397658,"journal":{"name":"Annales Umcs, Zootechnica","volume":"426 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116006628","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
