The main aim of the survey was to determine the influence of selected breeds and crossbreed variants on the basic semen traits in the station boars. The studies comparised 25 787 ejaculates taken by the manual method from 205 the station boars: 26 PWL (wbp) boars (3353 ejaculates), 124 PL (pbz) boars (14711 ejaculates), 16 crossbreds hampshire × pietrain (2081 ejaculates), 16 crossbreds duroc x pietrain (2313 ejaculates), 9 crossbreds pietrain × duroc (1082 ejaculates), and 14 pietrain boars (2247 ejaculates) used at the Sow Insemination Station in Kraśnik and Bialka near Radzyn Podlaski. A significant effect of breed and crossbreed structure of the crossbred boars was shown on most analysed semen traits. In the purebred boars group the highest semen volume was found for PWL boars (226 ml). Significantly the smallest volume was found for PL ejaculates (221 ml) and pietrain ejaculates (216.8 ml). In the crossbred boars the highest semen volume was for hampshire × pietrain boars (261.8 ml), the smallest semen volume had duroc × pietrain boars (182.7 ml). The studies confirmed the negative correlation between semen volume and the concentration of spermatozoa. A highly significant difference was revealed in the number of alive spermatozoa in ejaculates of different crossbreds of boars group.","PeriodicalId":397658,"journal":{"name":"Annales Umcs, Zootechnica","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122588072","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Primary sequences designed for microsatellite loci in the domestic dog genome (FH2054, CPH3, FH2168, FH2164, FH2097), which were used in this study, also allowed for the amplification of the corresponding loci in white and standard Raccoon dogs. In these groups the frequency of alleles, observed and expected heterozygosity, the polymorphic information content and the probability of parentage exclusion were analyzed. The studies allowed to define the expected degree of polymorphism of five microsatellite loci in the two color varieties of Raccoon dogs. All of the five selected microsatellite sequences may be used for checking the origin of Raccoon dogs and the construction of genetic maps within the canids. The obtained values of genetic similarity and genetic distance shows that there is a high genetic similarity between the groups of white and standard Raccoon dog genetic, and thus the small genetic distance. This suggests only small genetic differences between white and standard Raccoon dogs.","PeriodicalId":397658,"journal":{"name":"Annales Umcs, Zootechnica","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128365865","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study was aimed at comparing the offers of equestrian centres in selected areas of Lublin region, with expectations of people taking advantage of horse riding. The analysis included 23 stables of leisure horses which work in protected areas. Information was collected using two types of questionnaires consisting of twenty similar questions (for centre’s owners and for potential tourists). The answers were expressed in percentage. Analogous issues in both polls were compared. It was found that the offer of horse-ride tourism covers the expectations of the people concerned. The greatest discrepancy referred to: the low level of ecological knowledge of leisure organizers, partly improper selection of leisure horses, as well as the lack of additional attractions and qualified guides during several-days’ excursions.","PeriodicalId":397658,"journal":{"name":"Annales Umcs, Zootechnica","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129302334","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study with pigs in the complete reproductive cycle was accomplished in five periods: pregnant sows, nursing sows, piglets, young fatteners, and fatteners. Four experimental groups were established in the experiment, including two controls: positive control (PC), where dicalcium phosphate additive was used as a source of phosphorus, and negative control (NC), where solely plant-based feed mixtures were the source of phosphorus. The other two groups were as follows: MP – in which pigs received the same feed mixture as in the NC group but supplemented with microbial phytase, and the EP group in which the animals were fed the same feed mixture as in the NC group but with the addition of a multi-enzyme preparation which included both microbial phytase and enzymes participating in the hydrolysis of nonstarch polysaccharide fractions (xylanase, β-glucanase, cellulase). The addition of microbial phytase either alone or with the enzymes hydrolyzing the non-starch polysaccharide fractions contributed to increased contents of phosphorus, copper and zinc in sows’ milk. In contrast, it did not evoke any significant changes in the content of calcium, magnesium, iron, or in that of protein, fat and lactose in the milk of sows. The feed enzymes contributed to a significant increase in the concentrations of minerals (except for magnesium) in blood plasma of piglets and fatteners, whereas so significant changes were observed in the blood plasma of sows.","PeriodicalId":397658,"journal":{"name":"Annales Umcs, Zootechnica","volume":"2013 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121757533","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
