The system is configured to accept a pre-assigned driver's head tilts for the speed and steering control actions. The head tilts are recorded using an accelerometer, which is mounted on a head-band that fits the driver head. The head tilts collected data are transmitted via a Bluetooth transmitter after being interpreted using a Fuzzy Logic based interpreter. Once the data is received by the vehicle's on-board Bluetooth module, it passes to the steering and speed servo-controllers. Both Fuzzy Logic controller and a conventional PID controller are used to carry out the transmitted commands. The driving aid system is first implemented on microcontroller Platform and is verified for proper operation using software. Furthermore, the complete integrated system is tested for functionality and performance.","PeriodicalId":397467,"journal":{"name":"2017 10th Jordanian International Electrical and Electronics Engineering Conference (JIEEEC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125203933","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We use a stochastic geometry framework to model the WSN, in which the sensor nodes send their local decisions and data to the fusion center over a shared communication channel employing a contention based MAC protocol. We first derive the mean and variance of the contention delay. Then we approximate the distribution with a negative binomial via moment matching. This statistical characterization is then used to find the optimum medium access probability to minimize both the mean and the variance of the total delay. Simulation results almost exactly follow our theoretical results.","PeriodicalId":397467,"journal":{"name":"2017 10th Jordanian International Electrical and Electronics Engineering Conference (JIEEEC)","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128927103","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed algorithm increases the probability of rendezvous (RDV) within a single cycle by allowing CR nodes to meet more often according to intersection property of quorum systems (QSs). Our proposed algorithm is called Adaptive quorum-based channel-hopping distributed coordination scheme for cognitive radio networks. The main idea of our algorithm is to dynamically adjust the selected QS by CR users according to the varying traffic loads in the CRN. The proposed algorithm decreases the average time to rendezvous (TTR) and increases the probability of RDV. We evaluate the performance of our algorithm through simulations. The performance of our algorithm is compared with two different schemes. The results show that our algorithm can reduce TTR, increase the RDV, and decrease the energy consumption per successful RDV.","PeriodicalId":397467,"journal":{"name":"2017 10th Jordanian International Electrical and Electronics Engineering Conference (JIEEEC)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121205279","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
