However, the device size, low cost and low energy are the main problems in the design of WSNs. In this paper, a high gain CMOS LNA for 2.4 GHz WSN application is proposed and simulated in 0.18 um CMOS technology. A novel energy efficient technique along with the current bleeding PMOS devices is employed to improve both the NF and power gain of the LNA design. Furthermore, the folded cascade is improved by combining the Partial Source Degeneration (PSD), shunt feedback and boosting inductor. Simulation results show that the proposed LNA approach outperforms the conventional fold cascode LNA in terms of gain (S21) and NF. Also, the proposed LNA achieves a forward gain of 31 dB with a NF of 2.66 dB, while drawing 9.75 mW from a 1V source supply; and a linearity Input Third-Order Intercept Point (IIP3) of −2.5 dBm.","PeriodicalId":397467,"journal":{"name":"2017 10th Jordanian International Electrical and Electronics Engineering Conference (JIEEEC)","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133780907","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The method involves choosing a high order local boundary conditions in frequency-domain and implementing it on the surface of the scatterer to find the normal derivative of the field numerically for applications such as the calculation of the radar cross-section and the surface current. We consider the two-dimensional problem for a perfectly conducting cylinder. Its numerical implementation and its performance in a wide range of frequency problems are demonstrated and compared to the frequency-domain integral equation for the scattered field. The advantage of the new method is that the On-Surface Radiation Boundary Conditions (OSRBCs) is applicable to a wide range of frequencies. A series of numerical tests demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of these conditions to a wide range of frequencies. Both the exact solutions as well as the high order local boundary conditions solutions are compared.","PeriodicalId":397467,"journal":{"name":"2017 10th Jordanian International Electrical and Electronics Engineering Conference (JIEEEC)","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125470723","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It consists of two frame segments (Segment 1 as a main radiator and Segment 2 which acts as a wave trap). The main segment works as a shorted monopole antenna (PIFA-like antenna) with a modified shape. By combining different modes of the shorted monopole and loading stubs, a hexa-band operation is achieved. The antenna is analyzed and optimized in terms of the reflection coefficient and the current distribution. The final design is made and tested and the results show that this design covers a hexa-band and is particularly suitable for such as GSM850/ DCS1800/ PCS1900/ UMTS2100/ LTE2500/ LTE3600 mobile applications.","PeriodicalId":397467,"journal":{"name":"2017 10th Jordanian International Electrical and Electronics Engineering Conference (JIEEEC)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131917182","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The target is to minimize the transmission losses, enhance the voltage profile, determine the optimal value of control variables such as generator voltage magnitudes, tap setting of the transformer and number of compensation devices and also maintain a reasonable system performance in terms of limits on generator real power and reactive power outputs, bus voltages and power flow of transmission lines. In order to reduce the total active power loss, improve power system voltage, enhance reliability and increase power transfer limits. We propose also the optimization of the placement of FACTS devices in the power system (STATCOM). The proposed method is examined on IEEE 14-bus and modified IEEE 30-bus power systems. However, if flux saturation effect was ignored, reductions in the reliability of the control of the IM and degradation in performance are expected. In this paper, the MATLAB SIMULINK d-q model of the three — phase IM is analyzed, and a d-q control schematic of the IM is applied. Results of torque and speed responses to the reference inputs were obtained in two separate cases; the first one supposes that the stator current is linearly proportional to stator voltage at all times (no flux saturation exists), and the second case, which is more practical, involves the mutual flux saturation. A comparison between the two cases in terms of torque and speed performances of the IM is yielded.","PeriodicalId":397467,"journal":{"name":"2017 10th Jordanian International Electrical and Electronics Engineering Conference (JIEEEC)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126522309","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Instead of that the total cost of the drive system (Motor-Inverter-Control system) has become an important element which cannot be ignored in the market of automated working mechanisms and modern drive systems. It was necessary to get rid of the position sensor which was the basic unit in the drive system of the Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM), and to replace it by a digital estimation system of the position depending on artificial intelligent technology to reduce the cost of the drive system in one hand and to qualify this motor to work in very high-speed range on the other without causing mechanical problems. This appears clearly in low-power applications like pumps and fans. Therefore, a study has been applied on a drive system of three phase (SRM) of 6/4 type without external position sensor. It was based on Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) technique with only measuring stator phase currents and fluxes. Whereas the resulting drive system includes neural network estimator acting on closing the motor control loop. This system is described by its performance strength and its high ability to estimate the rotor angle of the SRM after completing the training of the neural network on the data set of (the stator fluxes, stator currents and the rotor position), including different cases which the motor may experience in practical conditions of the environment operation of the studied system, and depending on the neural network method. The results of simulation of the drive system in the presence of neural network estimator have shown a strong performance of the estimator and a high ability to estimate the SRM rotor angle in the speed range for the motor operation in both the linear and non-linear regions and with/without load.","PeriodicalId":397467,"journal":{"name":"2017 10th Jordanian International Electrical and Electronics Engineering Conference (JIEEEC)","volume":"44 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132897377","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The converter hub can integrate renewable energy sources such as wind turbines, photovoltaic arrays, fuel cells, etc. for provision of different output voltage levels. The advantage of energy sources integration is that the required output voltage levels could be made up from a range of sources. The designed converter has the advantages of a simple configuration, fewer components, high conversion ratio and high efficiency. The regulated output voltage levels are achieved via classical PID controllers which utilise the concept of closed-loop voltage mode control. Design of the converter control system requires comprehensive knowledge of the converter structure, its operation principle and the small-signal model for continues conduction operation mode. The validity of the converter's control performance is demonstrated through software simulation.","PeriodicalId":397467,"journal":{"name":"2017 10th Jordanian International Electrical and Electronics Engineering Conference (JIEEEC)","volume":"219 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127607614","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Devising ways for handling problem optimization is an important yet a challenging task. We look for techniques that are efficient, accurate, and applicable. The search space could have any nature and could have discontinuity or multi-local optima. In this paper, we address this challenge by offering an algorithm that combines the random search techniques with both an effective mapping and a dynamic adjustment of its search behavior. Our proposed algorithm automatically builds two types of triangles over the unity intervals: principal and marginal. These triangles guide the search within both the effective regions of the search domain that most likely contain the optima and the marginal regions of the search domain that less likely contain the optima. Experiments with our prototype implementation showed that our method can effectively find the global optima for rather complicated mathematical functions chosen from well-known benchmarks and perform better than other algorithms.","PeriodicalId":397467,"journal":{"name":"2017 10th Jordanian International Electrical and Electronics Engineering Conference (JIEEEC)","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130234695","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
