Materials and methods: A quasi-experimental study conducted with 80 participants with a diagnosis of hypertension and diabetes mellitus, whose food intake was evaluated at the beginning of the intervention and at the end of the scheduled teleorientation and telemonitoring sessions. Results: At the beginning of the intervention, only 6.25 % of the participants showed an adequate food intake, which increased to 71.25 % at the end of the scheduled teleorientation and telemonitoring sessions. Conclusions: The implementation of a nutrition teleorientation and telemonitoring system in patients with hypertension and diabetes mellitus improves their food intake, thus confirming the efficacy of using ICTs in health interventions for the benefit of the population.","PeriodicalId":396953,"journal":{"name":"Horizonte Médico (Lima)","volume":"149 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124157069","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Materials and methods: An observational, descriptive and retrospective study. The research included a population of 248 patients aged between 1 month and 14 years 11 months 30 days with a diagnosis of UTI who underwent a urine culture. A data collection sheet was used and the results were processed using the IBM SPSS Statistics statistical software 23.0. Results: The infection occurred more often in female patients (82.26 %), with fever being the most prevalent clinical manifestation (83.87 %). The most widely used medical treatment was amikacin (49.19 %). E. coli was the most frequently isolated germ (70.57 %). The isolated germs showed sensitivity to antibiotics such as nitrofurantoin (70.16 %), ceftazidime (51.20 %), gentamicin (43.14 %) and amikacin (28.62 %). In contrast, they were resistant to sulfamethoxazole–trimethoprim (74.59 %). One of the most common findings in the imaging tests was unilateral pyelectasis (43.14 %). Conclusions: UTIs occur more frequently in women. The anamnesis and clinical examination, together with a complete urinalysis and imaging tests, are essential for the diagnosis and treatment of these patients. The definitive diagnosis must be established by a urine culture. The choice of an empirical therapy will depend on the patient’s history of sensitivity and resistance to antibiotics based on the urine cultures performed.","PeriodicalId":396953,"journal":{"name":"Horizonte Médico (Lima)","volume":"36 8 Pt 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125730826","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This was an observational cross-sectional study conducted in 482 theses approved between 2016 and 2018 in universities’ schools of medicine (25.10%), nursing (46.47%), nutrition (18.46%) and psychology (9.95%) in Puno. A greater proportion of descriptive (56.84%) and non-experimental research works (90.45%) were found. The priority topics were mental health (7.05%); human resources (6.22%); malnutrition and anemia (18.87%); maternal, perinatal and neonatal mortality (4.77%); tuberculosis (1.86%); cancer (5.80%); high blood pressure, dyslipidemia and cardiovascular diseases (3.52%); health policy and management (0.41%); diabetes mellitus (7.46%); and respiratory infections and pneumonia (5.60%). Traffic accidents were not considered in this group. It is concluded that over 50% of the theses from the universities in Puno address a health research priority topic.","PeriodicalId":396953,"journal":{"name":"Horizonte Médico (Lima)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121994668","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
