To illustrate this conflict, the present article examines the opinions about Lope that we can find in the work of two eighteenth-century Hispanists, John Talbot Dillon (1739-1805) and William Hayley (1745-1820). Studying them in the context in which they were written, and contrasting their sources and criteria, we explain the meaning and importance of these texts in their European context, and we offer in an appendix a translation so that specialists can compare them with the work of the well-known English lopistas of the nineteenth century (Lord Holland, Shelley, etc.).Keywords: Lope de Vega, John Talbot Dillon, William Hayley, english lopismo, Herder, good taste.","PeriodicalId":39608,"journal":{"name":"Edad de Oro","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44488169","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Un analisis indica que todos ellos derivan de un solo ascendiente comun ya defectuoso, probablemente un pliego anterior hoy perdido. Se elabora, pues, una edicion critica del poema, seguida de un estudio. El romance usa imagineria que se extiende en la literatura peninsular en lengua vernacula a partir de su introduccion en la poesia devota, en concreto en las Coplas «De vita Christi» de fray Inigo de Mendoza, cuya primera redaccion es datada en el ano 1474, y La Passion trobada de Diego de San Pedro, compuesta durante esa misma decada. Un estudio de las posibles fuentes para los episodios narrados apunta a que el autor se baso o bien en la Coronica troyana (un traslado al castellano de la Historia destructionis Troiae de Guido delle Colonne, conservado fragmentariamente y aqui identificado con el debido al canciller Pero Lopez de Ayala) o la Cronica troyana impresa por primera vez en 1490 (un texto que combina las Sumas de historia troyana atribuidas a Leomarte y la Coronica troyana recien mencionada). A pesar de la ausencia de pruebas definitivas, lo mas probable es que hubiera hacia 1491 una primera moda de romances troyanos inspirados en la Cronica troyana impresa. En tal momento debio de componerse «Reina Elena, reina Elena», asi como el contemporaneo «Por una linda espessura», que se hicieron rapidamente populares y entraron en la tradicion oral sefardi.","PeriodicalId":39608,"journal":{"name":"Edad de Oro","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41936758","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With a date of 1639-1640, it constitutes a kind of poetry songbook or anthology prepared by this author with the aim of spreading the work of Gongora, canonizing it and, in turn, position himself, with respect to the large gallery or cast of commentator scholars, in a privileged place of the Republic of letters. However, despite challenging the previous editors of Gongora and even enter into interpretative discord with other prominent actants of the literary polemic, for its ambitious fuste, the project would end unfinished and without reaching a good publishing port.
