An occupancy model of channel occupancy in the frequency and time domain was developed. A robust algorithm is proposed to allocate white spaces within a channel group with by primary users. The algorithm statistically identifies which channels can be used with a higher probability of having a white space, so minimizing the possible collisions. The simulation results indicate clearly the good potential for cognitive radio secondary use in this band.","PeriodicalId":395359,"journal":{"name":"2013 SBMO/IEEE MTT-S International Microwave & Optoelectronics Conference (IMOC)","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122567989","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We analyzed the backscattered signals of two types of dipole: wire dipole at the operating frequency 1.8 GHz and microstrip dipole operating frequency of 900 MHz. The experimental results showed that the receiving antenna dipole wire showed a better reflection of the backscattered signal compared to the microstrip dipole. The dipoles presented higher gain than broadband microstrip antenna, can be a good options for backscatter radio reader.","PeriodicalId":395359,"journal":{"name":"2013 SBMO/IEEE MTT-S International Microwave & Optoelectronics Conference (IMOC)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126825195","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An optical pre-filtering optimization at the transmitter side was performed, evaluating different filter profiles. A 33-GHz Nyquist-like optical filter was found to be the best solution to improve both 112-Gb/s and 224-Gb/s systems performance. We also performed a back-to-back evaluation in order to obtain the OSNR performance for the optimized systems. The specific circuits under investigation are driven by the radio and the airbag Electronic Control Unit (ECU) and have the right rear speaker and pre-tensioner, respectively, as loads. The occurrence of this kind of interaction, known as crosstalk, is sub-divided into two classes: inductive and capacitive coupling. These phenomena are related to magnetic and electric fields couplings, respectively, and they are usually inseparable. Nevertheless, one of these effects can be predominant in relation to the other. Obviously, none of them is desirable and, when noticed, can lead to anomalies in the vehicular operation. The methodology of this work is based on harnesses' time and frequency domain voltage measurements, monitoring of airbag ECU's operation and a prediction of inductive and capacitive contributions to the overall coupling between the systems. These tasks have required the use of an oscilloscope, the information from the On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) terminal and the simulation software Ansys® Q3D Extractor. Some worst-case harnesses' spatial dispositions schemes have been proposed and tested. Finally, some modifications in the vehicle's design have been proposed and tested with the purpose of decreasing the probability of error occurrence due to crosstalk.","PeriodicalId":395359,"journal":{"name":"2013 SBMO/IEEE MTT-S International Microwave & Optoelectronics Conference (IMOC)","volume":"258 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115874409","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the approach presented herein, it is only considered the fundamental TM mode to calculate the propagation constant. This one is determined for a frequency range from 0 to 20 GHz, for both structures. It is shown that the values of constant propagations for a cylindrical structure are different to a rectangular structure when the relationship between the dimensions of the waveguide and the via hole is lower than 200.","PeriodicalId":395359,"journal":{"name":"2013 SBMO/IEEE MTT-S International Microwave & Optoelectronics Conference (IMOC)","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115172256","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By simply adding the symmetrical and asymmetrical stubs, a transmission zeros and a pair of transmission zeros are generated at both sides of lower and upper transition bands, respectively, and sharper selectivities and additional in-band transmission poles have been obtained without increasing the filter order and recalculating filter parameters. Group delay peaks have been found as the ones shown in the transition bands of elliptical function type filters. The levels of in-band transmission poles are increased by this new technique without additional couple line sections. A 3rd order conventional parallel coupled line BPF with a fractional bandwidth from 0.75 GHz to 1.35 GHz and the identical BPFs with two symmetrical and asymmetric stubs have been fabricated. Measurement results show that the technique using asymmetrical stubs improves the skirt slopes of the lower and upper transition bands 14.9 dB/50 MHz and 7.8 dB/50 MHz, respectively. The BPF with the stubs shows insertion loss lower than 0.5 dB and return loss better than 10 dB in the passband and additional in-band transmission poles.","PeriodicalId":395359,"journal":{"name":"2013 SBMO/IEEE MTT-S International Microwave & Optoelectronics Conference (IMOC)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115316408","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
