RSM is a tool used to develop models based on the input of independent and response variables, to which it predicts the output of the response with high accuracy. Therefore, the objectives of this research are to optimize the mix designs of green ICEB by using RSM and to study the engineering properties of green ICEB. The softwares used in this research are Design Expert Version 11, and Minitab 19 which is used for validation. The independent variables are cement and Spent Bleaching Earth Ash (SBEA), while the compressive strength and water absorption are the response variables. Based on the results, Design Expert Version 11 has the capability of developing a significance mathematical model equation to predict the response variables. The 2-D contour plots and 3-D plots are able to present the engineering properties realistically based on the actual experimental data. According to the RSM, the best mix for green ICEB with SBEA to provide the highest compressive strength is 94.6% cement and 5.4% SBEA, while the lowest water absorption is 90% cement and 10% SBEA.","PeriodicalId":394166,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Research in Engineering Innovation","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125465698","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Seismic performance of timber structure is quite satisfying, because of its capability to withstand earthquake forces, and timber has been used from traditional house to high rise building. A multi story construction of timber material that still stand strong until now is Maimun Palace, which is a cultural heritage in the city of Medan that must be preserved. So it is necessary to do an analysis to determine the concept of the structure of the Maimun Palace. As a royal palace, Maimun is such a large timber house with complex architecture, so that a comprehensive survey must be done. Surveys carried out include interview with palace guard and royal descendants. The Maimun Palace structure is also modelled into frames and 3D models. The result of Maimun Palace research is that this palace applied the concept of earthquake-resistant building structures which are also outlined in the Indonesian technical guidelines.","PeriodicalId":394166,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Research in Engineering Innovation","volume":"124 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133048904","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It involves identifying potential forms of harm, their effects, causal factors, and the level of risk associated with them. Systems are always vulnerable to mishaps, hazards, or risks that result in system failures, resulting in injuries, loss, and damage. Even though previous studies have made a significant contribution to the study of hazard analysis, little effort has been made to give an overview of the common HA techniques, highlighting their responsibilities, advantages, and disadvantages. Thus, this paper aims to focus on and feature the existing HA techniques along with their respective functions. An overall picture of the advantages and disadvantages of listed HA techniques is presented as well in this paper. Such a study may be utilized as a guide to aid researchers and practitioners in understanding hazard analysis. The investigation is conducted using a process-oriented approach that consists of three steps: formulation of the research questions, the gathering of related studies, and the analysis of the extracted studies. The study revealed a total of 22 HA techniques. A further study is to propose and carry out a systematic literature review to identify to what extent the hazard analysis techniques have been implemented and evaluated in case studies.","PeriodicalId":394166,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Research in Engineering Innovation","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125791578","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The traditional houses in Indonesia are generally able to resist the earthquake. They have a non-engineered structural system that was handed down from ancient traditions. Most of the damaged or collapsed houses were made of concrete. Meanwhile, the traditional house is made of wood or bamboo tend to survive. Karo and Toba regency is one of the areas in Indonesia which is known to be prone to earthquakes. Because it is located near Sibayak Mount and Sinabung Mount which is an active status. But the traditional houses there are still withstanding now. In this paper, we will analyze the traditional houses against the earthquake with the case study in Karo and Toba. These structures will be analyzed by the MDOF method and using SAP2000 software. The results are the structural concept of the traditional houses is relatively the same, only the type of the roof is significantly different. The traditional houses have symmetrical structures. There is no horizontal irregularity, but vertical irregularity exists. Furthermore, the earthquake performances show that the structures of the traditional houses in Karo and Toba are safe in terms of the period, the base shear force, the friction force, and the story drifts.","PeriodicalId":394166,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Research in Engineering Innovation","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115843148","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

PMs in engineering research projects shall be able to select the right option to mitigate scope variability during critical junctures like project continuity. On-the-shelf DSMs are leveraged to overcome their shortcomings with more effective and relevant solutions. The proposed DSM is a consolidation of on-the-shelf DSMs and methodologies such as Balanced Scorecard, Quality Function Deployment, Analytic Hierarchy Process, Strength, Weakness, Opportunities and Threats, and Agile methodology, leading to a Decision Support System (DSS). The application of the DSM into a DSS is done using Progressive Web Applications. The input was collected through interviews with PMs who have significant expertise in managing research projects. Performance indicators were then developed to be reviewed by industry experts to verify their applicability. Based on the feedback obtained, it is shown that the DSM and its application as DSS is effective as the surveyed PMs state that it is useful in certain situation. The developed model contributes to the engineering research industry as it mitigates common challenges that PMs face, by efficiently providing a solution-seeking guideline.","PeriodicalId":394166,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Research in Engineering Innovation","volume":"231 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131013259","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although fossil fuel provides on-demand power, its application on these type of islands has its drawback in terms of operations and logistics. Today, Renewable Energy technologies is becoming cost-competitive with fossil fuels and can be deployed on large scales. For these islands community’s power demand, renewable energy is an option, but unfortunately, it cannot cover the demands at all times. In such cases, a hybrid energy system is recommended. This study, focused on the performance analysis of different combinations of Diesel – RE hybrid system in terms of the lowest cost of energy, renewable energy fraction, and carbon emission reduction. The analysis has been performed using HOMER Pro, in which for a Diesel – RE hybrid system in Cuyo Island, the most suitable is the Diesel/Wind Hybrid Electrical System, which gives the lowest cost of energy of about $0.113/kWh, renewable energy fraction of about 72.8% and emission reduction of 71.8%. This system can support additional future load as much as 88.6% of the existing load demand and has a significant impact on mitigating carbon footprint. Wind Turbine and Solar PV array’s Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE) are $ 0.029/kWh and $ 0.053/kWh respectively. With a 40-year wave hindcast data from MetOceanView, Wave Energy Converter (WEC) performance was also assessed using the Hydro module of Homer Pro Software. Assessment has been made with single and multi – WEC combined with diesel and other RE’s. Results show that the LCOE for WEC is about $0.66/kWh, which is within the range of $0.20 - $0.90/kWh levelized cost for wave energy at present. With the continues evolution of RE Technologies and cost – competitiveness is becoming less of an issue, electrifying isolated island communities through hybrid electrical system will be more feasible in the future.","PeriodicalId":394166,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Research in Engineering Innovation","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123365834","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Scientists are increasing the exploitation of renewable energy resources across the board as a substitute for fossil-fuel-based technologies due to concerns about future petroleum depletion. Because ships are a vital mode of transportation, diesel oil is required to power their engines and generators, which provide electricity to ships and planes alike. In the past, renewable solar energy was considered the best choice. This is a substitute for fuel in ships that uses it. A solar-powered boat will be developed using the latest solar energy research presented in this paper. The best boat for utilizing solar power while underway is a catamaran. A yacht design with a flat top that allows for the installation of solar panels or photovoltaic (PV) modules. It's only been possible to make a mini prototype of this catamaran due to budget and other constraints. As a whole, it's expected to better inform the public about the advantages of solar energy generated from renewable natural resources and to save on ship operation costs as well.","PeriodicalId":394166,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Research in Engineering Innovation","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124515533","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study focuses on evaluating the effectiveness of various damping devices in a high-rise building. Type of damping devices evaluated are Viscoelastic Damper (VCD) and Rotational Friction Damper (RFD), with study case of a 15-story reinforced concrete apartment building with a dual system (column-beam and shear walls). The analysis used is a nonlinear time history analysis with 11 pairs of ground motions matched to the Indonesian response spectrum based on ASCE 41-17 and ASCE 7-16. In this analysis, each damper will be varied with a different position, namely the first model, the damper will be installed on the entire floor and in the second model, the damper will be installed on the 5th floor to the 9th floor, which is the floor with the largest drift. The results show that the model using both dampers increase the level of structural performance globally and locally in the building, reducing the level of damage to the structural elements. But between the two dampers, the coupling beam that uses RFD is more effective than using VCD in improving building performance. The damper on the coupling beam has a good role in dissipating earthquakes and in terms of ease of installation.","PeriodicalId":394166,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Research in Engineering Innovation","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114745296","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
