In fact a direct adaptive controller based on a radial basis function neural network used as an on-line approximator to learn the time-varying characteristics of process parameters is developed and then is compared with a classical linearizing controller. The controller design is achieved by using an input-output feedback linearization technique. A realistic case study, which consists of a complex bioprocess resulting from the association of a recycling bioreactor with an electrochemical reactor, is fully analyzed. Computer simulations are included to demonstrate the behaviour and the performance of the proposed controllers.","PeriodicalId":393739,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE International Conference on Automation and Logistics","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133734177","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has been proved that combination of multiple features can increase the robustness of a tracking system. By considering the characteristics of these features, we propose the approach of employing the color and topological properties of the target in tracking. First, the target is segmented into fragments. The color of the target is represented by a Gaussian Mixture Model(GMM), with every fragment corresponding to a Gaussian model. The topology of the target is represented by a tree-liked structure constructed from the spatial information of the fragments. During the tracking procedure, we extract the foreground by comparing the GMM of the target, and represent it using a GMM as well. After that, color and topological properties of the target are integrated in order to determine the association of the target's fragments with the foreground's fragments. The tracking result is the fragments of the foreground, which are associated with the target's fragments. At last, the color and topological properties of the target are updated by the tracking result. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of this algorithm, even though when the locomotion of the target is unpredictable.","PeriodicalId":393739,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE International Conference on Automation and Logistics","volume":"75 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130304571","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, selecting the optimal parameters for the PTS is very complex since it requires an exhaustive search of all possible weighting factors whose number grows exponentially with the number of subblocks. An improved particle swarm optimization (PSO) based PTS algorithm is proposed to reduce the complexity by choosing the weighting factors suboptimally. The evaluation shows that the proposed algorithm performs very closely to the optimal PTS in many cases with much lower complexity.","PeriodicalId":393739,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE International Conference on Automation and Logistics","volume":"209 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116242877","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The requirement for the due date of the product is flexible and is described by trapezoidal fuzzy number. On the basis of qualitative possibility theory, a measure of schedule robustness is defined to optimize the worst-case performance. The robust optimization criterion is established by combining the robustness measure and the satisfaction degree for the most plausible performance. A genetic simulated-annealing algorithm is used to solve the fuzzy robust JSSPs. An extensive experiment was conducted to testify the effectiveness of the used algorithm and to demonstrate the advantages of the proposed robust optimization model.","PeriodicalId":393739,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE International Conference on Automation and Logistics","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123305758","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A sufficient condition of such controller is presented in LMI forms. The controller parameters can be obtained by solving the LMI. A numerical example is then given to illustrate the effectiveness of the designed method, that is, the designed nonfragile guaranteed-cost controller ensures the NCS asymptotically stable and the upper bound of the cost function value in expectation can also be obtained, while the NCS controlled by the robust guaranteed-cost controller will be unstable with respect to the uncertainties in the controller gain.","PeriodicalId":393739,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE International Conference on Automation and Logistics","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127191630","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Traditionally, factors, such as cost and distance, will usually be considered. However, different handling reliability and the ability of recycling wastes, packaging materials for example, in some transition points could affect the performance of the network. The objective of this paper is to propose a genetic algorithm to determine the flow and route of products in a distribution network. It simultaneously considers various factors such as cost, distance, the handling reliability, and recycling ability in different transition point. A numerical example is presented to illustrate the conflicts between the different factors to the performance of the distribution network under study, and thus how the proposed algorithm can handle the trade-off in such a multi-criterion decision making problem.","PeriodicalId":393739,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE International Conference on Automation and Logistics","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127955993","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
